We stayed at the Alona Hotel for 1 night on a weekend trip visiting various places. It was a short notice decision getting it of booking .com the previous night. On checkin. This was very pleasant with a young "colourful" lady with lovely welcoming smile ...oh and great eyebrows. We were given our room which impressed us and we were glad to have chosen the alona. We were out dancing that night and before going to bed wanted a nightcap. We were not disappointed ad we were able to get a drink chargeable to our room. ( not all hotels have night service for drinks). Breakfast the next day was nice , could have been a touch warmer , but good food products. We took the opinion that we will be returning to the alona on our next extended visit in August and bringing our grandchildren when we attend the tattoo but also stay a few extra nights here... :)

Had lunch today with friends the meal was lovely.. one friend had unusual dietary requirements the chef couldn’t do enough to suit her needs. The staff were all very pleasant couldn’t fault them.. I believe they are going to look at offering different dietary requirements

Most friendliest hotel you could visit. Manager staff and chef all amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotless and we were welcomed every time we entered or left hotel. Breakfast we had asked for veggie full breakfast and gluten free full breakfast. We chose this hotel because we been so many and none offered gluten free sausages at breakfast. David chef cooked amazing breakfast fresh with delicious veggie and gluten free sausages. Best breakfast we have had. We took our dogs and they were spoiled too. Cannot rate this hotel highly enough. All staff credit to manager. We would not go anywhere else. 😎😎

My family, age range 85 to 5, had a most wonderful time at the Alona yesterday. Fantastic, food, entertainment and gifts. Fun train ride and excellent value for money. What made the whole thing sparkle was the enthusiasm of the staff. Youngest granddaughter asked her mum, "How was today so special?". That sums it up. Thank you. Great memories.

Awful place. 2-star! The foyer was so unkept, and dreary. There were dirty dog bowls and cat bowls left strewn around outside the conservatory and on the walkways. I was booked in for a few nights but left after the first one and went to a different Hotel. Staff seem to be doing multiple tasks in the bar on reception running around. The kitchen staff were very inexperienced and kept people waiting while they cooked the breakfast. The furniture was old and tired and lacked TLC. Definitely will not go back there.

We only popped in for a quick drink but we're appalled to be charged £6 for 2 small packets of Piper's crisps!! How can they justify a mark-up of that proportion. I bet Piper's themselves would be as appalled as we were by this blatant profiteering.

Stayed two nights. Central for the motorway network and massive car park, but in quiet location overlooking loch. Two very welcoming gentlemen on reception, even if their message was 2there is a mid week wedding in the marque'. They had placed me as far away as possible. Not a problem as the bed was so comfortable I drifted off as soon as my head hit the pillow. Very acceptable room with king size bed and desk to work at. Breakfast and evening meal excellent, with plenty of choice, particularly at breakfast. Everyone welcoming, particularly Garry on reception who provided extra tea bags as I was working late and insisted on getting me a jug of fresh milk as well. I will definitely return.

Overall, a good price for a good hotel. Areas for improvement: The hotel is a little basic and tired and the bathroom needed some work as the top part of the shower did not work, The bar staff were a little slow and when I asked for some tap water they could only get warm water. Positives: Gary was excellent at check in and let us check in a lot earlier than advertised. He was very welcoming and funny. The breakfast had a good choice and was nice and hot as we did arrive at 7.30am and were amongst some of the first to arrive. The beds were very clean and very comfortable. I was worried at being located at the back of the hotel near a marquee, that it would be noisy, but it was not. For me the best part was being inside the Strathcylde Country Park. The loch was 10 steps away and we enjoyed running and walking around it.

Loved every minute of our stay. We liked it that much we extended our stay. The hotel staff were outstanding, very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and location is superb. Pir grandchildren enjoyed the theme park right on the doorstep. Breakfast is one of the best we have ever had at a hotel. A special mention for Conor who was welcoming and helpful. Our grandkids loved him as did we. Thankyou Conor for making our stay so pleasant. We look forward to returning to the Alona Hotel 😀
