The room was on a main road. Unable to have windows open at night. Room was also above the function room and music blared away until late. Then guests smoked under our window so window again stayed shut. Asked for room change and told fully booked
Can not understand latest reviews as we have just returned from a two day break and we have had a marvellous time. Lovely room with walk in shower and comfortable bed. Staff are very pleasant and helpful and the best for us, with a small dog, three were a few tables for breakfast and dinner set aside where the dog can sit with you. Thank you for a great break.
This was not my first visit and always had a great experience when we arrived the room was anything but clean in a time that cleaning is a priority the bin was full of the last person's rubbish the dust above the bed was nothing more than disgusting and hadn't been cleaned in years let alone days and rubbish in the hall to our room that was there when we arrived was still there when we left so disappointed as used to be top notch
We travelled to Motherwell for a family funeral, and chose The Moorings as it was convenient for the church, planning to leave the car there and walk to the ceremony, then take a taxi thereafter. I was delighted and reassured to be invited to check in online three days before our arrival, so that all we had to do was, in their words, collect the room key from reception. Travelling some distance we arrived hoping to freshen up and compose ourselves. Instead we found that there was no room, but the management had taken the liberty of booking us into another hotel, which involved a trip along the motor way and was certainly not in the centre of Motherwell. Apparently they'd tried to phone mid morning while we were travelling, which is unsatisfactory. We were left with no option but to accept the other hotel, which did, at least honour the booking. Beware. .…
Looks impressive from the outside and in the bar/restaurant but I was located in room 41 which is a basement room so really hot with no air con plus it’s smells musty and damp. Plus the room need to be cleaned properly and maybe a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss
What a stay everyone so friendly and helpful stopped here while visiting friends for the weekend. What a nice place and bed was comfy to. Breakfast was brilliant and 10 out 10 for the service from the lady who served me. Will definitely stop here again when next in Glasgow only 2 min Wark to nearest train station. Perfect place to stay if don't want the hussle and bussle of city centre. A ++ guys keep it up
Ideal base to visit Glasgow within walking distance to the train station at a much cheaper price then a city hotel with the same standard of facilities, not so large so it is still friendly & quick for food/ drink service
I recently visited this quaint little Scottish Town expecting to find grim grime covered streets covered with ash from the steelworks. They shut in 1992 under the Thatcher (spit) government. The streets were bright and cheerful with friendly people everywhere. The shops were filled with affordable goods, well most charity shops are. Queues outside all the chemists with friendly locals greeting you with requests for a pound for a cup of tea. Absolute bargain at that price. Quaint working (except no one is) class pubs full of beautiful young women looking to show the unsuspecting tourist a good time around town. Clubs abound around town. There's the miners, no really, a coal miners club, just no coal miners in it. Then there's the ex Service Men's club, no ex service men in it. Both hives of hilarity and fun and again no shortage of helpful women. What a friendly place. I lost my wallet in one such club but as I knew would happen, a friendly local returned it to me. Minus my money, driving licence and credit cards. I was so grateful getting my wallet back that I didn't mind the fact my cards had been used to buy "Custom kitchens, colour TV's". I will always treasure my visit to Motherwell, well after the broken bones have healed and the bruises faded. That happened when I tripped and fell onto several young chaps boots a few times. I hope you will enjoy your trip to Motherwell as much as I have. 😊…
We have stayed here for a local Annual event for the last 15 or so years apart from 2020 and 21 due to covid. As always a very enjoyable stay in a reasonably priced hotel close to the town centre and all local amenities. Looking forward to returning next year.
Stayed here for one night with my sister as we were here visiting family. Rooms are lovely, nicely decorated, clean and the one we were in was very quiet. Everyone in the hotel, staff wise is very polite and the hotel itself is a gorgeous building. Breakfast this morning was pre ordered the night before which we totally didn't mind and it was great to be waited on. The lady in the restaurant (sorry didn't get her name) was extremely attentive and all the food was served hot and was fresh. Will certainly be returning next time we come up to visit. Thank you for a lovely stay!
