Spent a night here a couple of weeks ago and very disappointed with the overall condition of the place. Carpets in the corridors were very dirty and the one in our room was grubby and stained ( couldn’t see the full extent of this until the morning as we arrived late and the lighting is subdued). Shower was missing the cap over the drain so could see and smell it was dirty when used. No toiletries in the shower dispenser. On arrival had to ask for extra pillows as only one per person provided, bedding creased and not welcoming but relatively clean . Had to clean bedside tables with wipes as sticky and dirty. Sofa was tired and stained - thank goodness wasn’t needed as an extra bed! Breakfast the following morning was very disappointing - dirty plates , cups and cutlery. Floor sticky and covered in crumbs etc from previous night( we were there at 6.45 am so couldn’t have been from breakfast service) When checking out I mentioned my concerns to receptionist but she said she was new and didn’t know what else to do other than note them on computer. Voiced these issues on a survey I received and received a perfunctory response saying these would be noted and passed on. Definitely won’t return.…
On arrival the check in was prompt and the room clean with everything we needed. That unfortunately is where the cleanliness stops. The lobby area was filthy, breakfast was very poorly organised. The tables were dirty, the cutlery was filthy. I had to ask for clean cutlery and someone to clean down the tables. The food was sparse and cold.
First off, I believe Americans will see this hotel differently than Europeans. As an American I found the hotel to be what you expect for a Holiday Inn express. The difference was the rooms are smaller. I know that is a European things so I wasn't surprised nor disappointed. The bathroom and room were very clean. We had adequate towels and received more upon request as needed. The staff, especially Nikki, was very helpful in suggesting places to go and foods to try. This hotel is in a public transportation desert so be ready to drive or call a taxi. We caught a taxi to the local train station and stayed out all day place to place. The amusement park and the lake are walking distance from the hotel, so it was a fun place to hang out in the evening. On he weekend you can catch boat races and soccer games behind the hotel or just have a picnic. Plan ahead getting to the airport because traffic is nuts like New York. Everyone was kind no matter where we went. The breakfast was good. We ate our fill of bacon and eggs. My daughter and I look forward to returning.…
We booked in this dog friendly hotel for one night , so pleased with our room and the breakfast was ok , did keep running out of things but eventually filled up . It’s in beautiful surroundings with a lovely lake just around the back of the hotel and straight onto the motorway to continue our journey . Will certainly stay again on our way to visit friends , highly recommend
We have just had a one night stay here and, after reading some very negative reviews, have been pleasantly surprised. We checked in very quickly and were welcomed by a very pleasant member of staff. The hotel is spotless. First impression was the fresh smell of cleaning products as we came out of the lift. Rooms are not huge but perfectly adequate for two people. Bedrooms seem to have been recently refurbished, bathroom with walk in shower and lovely big white fluffy towels was very good. Breakfast was piping hot, replenished frequently and the two young folk clearing tables and filling up food, crockery etc did a great job. Will definitely use hotel again.
Arrived with family and were allocated two rooms. My brother in law upon opening room door was surprised to find an open suitcase on the bed and personal items on the table. Immediately left room, returned to reception to explain situation which appeared to cause a panic with staff. No sensible explanation as to how this could have happened but another room was allocated. Rooms were clean and comfortable for our stay. Breakfast was a shambles. Although the hotel was busy there is no excuse for tables being left uncleared and cleaned for over half an hour, in fact some tables were not cleared in the time we were in the breakfast room. There appeared to be plenty staff but no management directing them. The hotel provides good value for money but it does appear to lack a leader who can manage to the standard required.…
Myself & family stayed here for a few days while visiting family on arrival we were greeted by Mark on reception who made us feel welcome. We were given two rooms on the second floor rooms were lovely and clean beds were comfortable, we didn't have an iron in our room and an ironing board in the other room went to see Mark on reception who was very apologetic and sorted it straight away nothing was to much trouble for him done everything he could to help. Breakfast buffet was lovely especially the scrambled eggs there was a variety of things to choose from I would definitely stay here again
Husband booked this monstrosity a convenient stop off traveling from Scotland to Wales. He didn’t check reviews. We arrived to the room but didn’t check it as we required an evening meal. The Carvery that he had been told was at the Hotel was across the car park and it was a Toby. Sadly although it was 18.30pm the Carvery had no food due to supply issues (another Brexit story and and all you can eat weekend). Returning to the room after we had eventually eaten, it was then noticeable that the room wasn’t clean. The bathroom was soiled & stained with red hair dye and possible shaving foam and tooth paste dribbles. There were questionable splashes on the outer of the shower cubical next to the toilet. The shower frame was a collection port for ‘gunk’. Quite shocking given that the bathroom looked like it had been fairly recently upgraded. Generally the room looked grubby and in need of a good clean to remove splash marks from walls behind tea & coffee area and bin area. Breakfast was included but by this time I had read the reviews so we didn’t bother. I don’t think I’m their target guest group tbh. The 2nd floor room was so hot overnight neither of us rested well despite the windows being opened to the full inch or so the safety locks would allow. Wild horses would not see me using a Holiday Inn again if this is the usual level of cleanliness & hygiene.…
A one night stopover on our way North, enjoyed the visit and must say that this is excellent value for money, only problem was a stained bed sheet which was duly noted by the receptionist, would stay again if accommodation needed in the area.
Stayed here for a family weekend as we were attending a local nearby event! Upon arrival first impressions were not great over flowing bin outside main entrance with seagulls eating in to it.. check in was quick & efficient & were given room 18 on ground floor, thought brill as we had a child with us, entered the room & the smell was unbearable it was like wet dog! Went to reception to ask for air freshener & given dehumidifier, on closer inspection of room pulled back curtains & under window was full of black mould… went back to reception asked to change rooms & told hotel full but will send my manager, along came a young lady blamed housekeeping & said she wouldn’t stay in that room & moved us to room 242 on 2nd floor, although this room smelt ok the cleaning of the room was definitely poor crumbs still on carpet bathroom mirror not clean.. the whole weekend somewhere in the hotel would be a foul smell never had this before… Now for our first breakfast not a clean table to be had even though majority had nobody sat at them, asked if someone could clean one for us & my husband was given a cloth & a bottle of cleaning spray and told “on you go pal” by this time I was gobsmacked the service was appalling all the areas around the food stations were disgusting plates cups etc that were supposed to be clean still with food stuff stuck to them & staff that were supposed to be working stood round talking about the football! Would never return to this hotel again & has made me question whether to use the chain again.…
