Detailed Reviews
I can't believe there isn't already a recommendation about The Shore B&B in Arran, in Lamlash! My husband and I stayed here a few years ago, and we loved it. We had the lower-floor room that has a partial (but ample) view of the water. It's a small room, but lovely. The bathroom was right outside the door to the room--literally 2 steps away.
The hosts were gracious, and the breakfast was EXCELLENT! My husband had the traditional Scottish breakfast and was very pleased, and I had the Vegetarian Scottish breakfast, which included veggie sausages that were not store-bought... they were delicious. The view from the dining room is glorious--with floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the Holy Isle.
----
And only £29 per person for a 4 star B&B... I would gladly stay there again.

This B&B was recommended to us by some locals on the island and it was, as promised, a lovely place to stay.
The breakfast was extrememy hearty and as a vegetarian, I was offered vegetarian sausages instead of the usual meat ones with my breakfast.
As long as you tell the host what your needs are, they will cater accodingly, which I thought was very good as you don't usually get that attitude.
Beautiful veiws can be seen over the bay and of Holy Isle and fantastic walks are close.
Would definately go there again.

+1
The Shore is among the best Scottish B and B’s that we have stayed in. We were there over a bright May weekend, ’06 and would go back.
The owner was helpful enough to phone us in advance to recommend that we booked the ferry due to the holiday being busy, and we were glad we did as it was full.
The room and bathroom were comfortable and clean and the house’s décor is calm with a mixture of modern and vintage pieces. The very bright ‘morning room’ with its full wall of windows giving a stunning view to the Holy Isle made us jealous this was not our holiday home.
The breakfast was 4 star. A large choice of traditional, vegetarian or smoked fish dishes, cereals, porridge, juices and teas etc. All beautifully cooked.
The owners, a calm couple who were relaxing hosts, booked a taxi for us and generally enquired after our trip. This was better than many Hotels and we’d recommend it without hesitation. The website photos give a good indication of it’s style.

I was extremely disappointed when I contacted this B&B to enquire about a booking for one night's stay this summer. I realise that this was not an easy request but was amazed to be told in a very arrogant manner that 'they would not contemplate such abooking at this time of year.' I can obviously understand this, However there are more polite ways of answering in order to keep future custom. This certainly is not what I expect of Scottish hospitality! Be warned this B&B is not interested in short stay bookings during busy times. Luckily the other two properties I contacted were far more professional and helpful in attitude.
