Had 3 nights early season, at fantastic value, at Kildonan Hotel. Yards from the dramatic shores at the south tip of Arran. Dramatic views, watching seals play on the rocks. The hotel rooms were comfortable. Staff were helpful and accommodating. There was a great folk music session in the bar downstairs. Breakfasts were massive, huge helpings. Choice of continental fayre...

We stayed for two nights 28 Feb and 1 March 2015. The stay was for my wife's birthday and the hotel kindly arranged for flowers in the room upon our arrival. We stayed in one of the suites on the first floor which has amazing views looking over the sea. When we stayed there was a bad storm however the...

This is our first night here and I must say it's very comfortable and cosy in our room. The food was very good and I loved the views across to the sea today. Had a very nice walk with the kiddies collection shells this afternoon. Would recommend for a relaxing break with family

Recently stayed here with my young daughter and her friend. Friendly staff. Good food. Big rooms. Beautiful beaches and views. A really calm and peaceful wee place but certainly came to life on the Sunday afternoon, loved the bongo's, guitars and song in he hotel bar, a really friendly fun atmosphere.

Got at a good deal on the internet for B&B. An excellent location right on the beach. So peaceful with great views and an abundance of wildlife. We upgraded to a superior room which was modern with a spacious lounge area, glazed wall to a balcony and an open sea view. The staff were very friendly and even phoned to...

Visited here for the 2nd time and was even more impressed this time. There are more modern hotels on the island but nothing compares with the views this one offers. Even on a cold, snowy January night it was a pleasure to sit outside and listen to the waves only feet away while watching the lighthouse on nearby Pladda lighting...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unwind and forget your troubles at our small, family run hotel. Built in the 17th Century, it is one of the 7th oldest licensed Inns in Scotland and historically a destination that families have aspired to visit for well over 100 years. Perched on the southern-most tip of Arran with panoramic views to die for, the hotel is located right on the seafront, the beach literally stone's throw away. Overlooking the Firth of Clyde we are right in the middle of a unique eco-system with a plethora of wildlife. We have seals basking daily on the rock jetties off-shore, otters feeding and playing on the rocks and gannets diving non-stop through the day. We are also fortunate to have occasional basking sharks and dolphins visiting in the summer months and an array of birds-of-prey including eagles, peregrines, buzzards and more... Pladda Island sits directly across the sound with its recognisable lighthouse and ever changing silhouette playing host to a large colony of seagulls and gannets. And of course the famous Ailsa Craig, 'Paddy's Milestone', a bird sanctuary now but is renowned for its granite which is still used for curling stones today. The interior is fully refurbished, still maintaining some the quaint characteristics of old, while the tasteful addition of extended bistro and lounge area with floor to ceiling windows allow residents and diners to gaze for miles over a cup of tea, breakfast or an evening meal. ... more   less
