My husband and I have just returned from two nights away at the Kildonan hotel. The location of the hotel is wonderful, right on the beach. The hotel is nice we stayed in room 7. You can take your dog with you to the hotel. We had dinner in the hotel both evenings which was nice. The staff were friendly.

Visited here recently with family. Fantastic location with beautiful views of Pladda and Ailsa Craig. Great walk along the beach after lunch. Lunch was disappointing. Very lacklustre menu. Chips with everything....and not even good chips. It's a shame as this place could really be something. Just needs more passionate staff and a more inspiring menu. With this and a little...

We stayed next door at the horrific campsite this hotel was our salvation ,wonderful friendly staff who went above the call of duty to help and be pleasant towards us. Meals were fabulous too and the service grade 1 . Amazing views just beautiful to watch otters ,seals, and bird life in the bay.

Stayed here for 2 nights on our first visit to the Isle of Arran. The hotel is right on the coast. We had a room with a corner view, south eastern exposure overlooking the sea and the Island of Pladda, with Ailsa Craig in the distance. Fantastic. Dog friendly in the extreme, dogs were welcome in the rooms, in the...

I spent two days at the Kildonan Hotel with my friend. The room was lovely with a sea view and the food was delish. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful walk along the beach, I even saw a seal lying on the rocks. I will definitely be going back.

My niece's wedding reception in mid-February '17. Food excellent, accommodation very good and stunning and dramatic setting right on the coast. Most importantly, it felt as though the Kildonan staff really wanted to make the event special for my niece and her now husband. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had a brilliant time. Highly recommend.

I'm going to begin with the positive: friendly staff, pet friendly - which is always a bonus and a lovely view from the suite we were staying in. I am now going to be very honest about the accommodation and the food we had. Our accommodation was classed as a deluxe suite and cost £145 for one night. I didn't...

We stayed here early April, we had a great big room with a gorgeous view of Pladda, this place is stunning, we had a magical stay, the walking was great we even saw wild sea otters at breakfast and the whisky was great too. Breakfast and the meals we had were all lovely. I seriously cannot recommend this place enough...

We booked a room quite spontanously. The price was quite high, so were our expectations. The room was big and the bed very comfortable. But it was a little old, some tiles were broken and the bathroom was little shabby. The staff was very helpful and kind. In the bar you have a big range of beers, drinks and whines....

Our wedding anniversary this year fell on exactly the same date as our wedding day eleven years ago - Easter Saturday. We married at Brodick Castle and held our wedding reception at the Kildonan Hotel which Anne and Rod made absolutely perfect. All our guests enjoyed their stay at this hotel. It was wonderful to return (even though we have...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unwind and forget your troubles at our small, family run hotel. Built in the 17th Century, it is one of the 7th oldest licensed Inns in Scotland and historically a destination that families have aspired to visit for well over 100 years. Perched on the southern-most tip of Arran with panoramic views to die for, the hotel is located right on the seafront, the beach literally stone's throw away. Overlooking the Firth of Clyde we are right in the middle of a unique eco-system with a plethora of wildlife. We have seals basking daily on the rock jetties off-shore, otters feeding and playing on the rocks and gannets diving non-stop through the day. We are also fortunate to have occasional basking sharks and dolphins visiting in the summer months and an array of birds-of-prey including eagles, peregrines, buzzards and more... Pladda Island sits directly across the sound with its recognisable lighthouse and ever changing silhouette playing host to a large colony of seagulls and gannets. And of course the famous Ailsa Craig, 'Paddy's Milestone', a bird sanctuary now but is renowned for its granite which is still used for curling stones today. The interior is fully refurbished, still maintaining some the quaint characteristics of old, while the tasteful addition of extended bistro and lounge area with floor to ceiling windows allow residents and diners to gaze for miles over a cup of tea, breakfast or an evening meal. ... more   less
