Detailed Reviews
Travelled to St Andrews Forest lodges as a family (2 adults, 2 children age 6 & 4) and had a lovely long weekend in Sept. Stayed in a Lyle Executive lodge (2 bedrooms) which was very spacious, much bigger than expected.
Lodge was spotlessly clean and well furnished, hot tub was cleaned daily and we made good use of it. Location was good, I was worried it would feel a bit far away from St Andrews town but it was literally a 5min drive. There is nothing on site (just a tiny kids play area) but that suited us, the kids took scooters to play outside as the site felt very quiet and safe.
We would definitely visit again - things I would remember to pack would be extra toilet rolls (one provided per toilet which wasn’t quite enough), shower gel (no toiletries provided), a cafetière (no coffee making facilities) and hairdryer (none provided). There were dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid, antibacterial soap, a few tea bags and spare bin bags. Washer/dryer was there but no detergent included.
We used St Andrews Forest Lodges as a base and visited sights and restaurants around the area including: Forgans restaurant (highly recommend Sunday roast!), Hams Hame pub (recommenced) and Maisha Indian (not our favourite). Also visited Cambo Estate (nice walks), Cairnie Fruit Farm (great for kids, and pick your own strawbs), Balgove Larder (good scones) and St Andrews beaches.

We stayed for a weekend break in a Lyle Executive lodge which has 2 bedrooms both en-suite a hot tub and a sauna. The lodge is super spacious with the best of furnishings. The kitchen space is brilliant with everything you need for cooking, plenty saucepans, frying pans dishes etc. The fridge and freezer are full size so can easily fit food/drink for a party of 4 for the stay. Plenty cupboard space too for storing anything else. Large TV in the living space and it's perfect for streaming if you have a chromecast or suchlike as there is WiFi and you can use it for a wee YouTube session. The patio and hot tub area is brilliant! It was a little cold for us to sit out at the table and chairs but in the summer months this would be perfect for a bbq. The fence is shorter here and has lovely country and water views. The hot tub area itself is completely secluded with a high fence which is great for a bit more privacy, especially getting in and out. Sauna is very easy to use and you can set the temperature outside it and it will stay at the temperature. All in all a fantastic weekend was had, all staff were super friendly and kept in touch especially for check in as reception closed at 5pm. We will definitely be making this a regular break, especially as its so close to St Andrews, great value for money and it's ideal for that chill out time you need any time of year. Thank you to the team.

Spent four nights early September in a Lawrie Plus Lodge, located on a well maintained site in a nice country setting. The Lodge had a very well equipped kitchen, was very spacious and spotlessly clean. There were two large bedrooms, one double and the other with two single beds, both bedrooms en-suite with large walk in showers, and plentiful supply of soft, white towels. There was also a television in both bedrooms as well as one in the comfortable lounge. If you walk down to the main road, there is a cycle path/walkway and it’s a pleasant 50 minute walk to Balgove Larder, which is definitely worth a stopover for coffee/lunch. Another five minutes or so takes you into St Andrews. Liked the fact there were only 17 Lodges on site so very peaceful. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to return again.

I visited here for a week on 28th August for a week. This was for my partner’s birthday. Upon arrival we got a welcome note and that was it. No welcome pack like drinks or biscuits which we have received at other log cabins. For the full stay staff didn’t speak to us, obviously because of Covid social distancing was in place but doesn’t take much to speak to you. We paid a lot of money for this and didn’t feel we got value for money. The hot tub lid fell off which was one of the main attractions, it was very dated and not always warm. My biggest issue was cleanliness, we weren’t allowed to check in until 5pm as the staff needed time to deep clean the place which is understandable but we found toe nail clippings underneath the glass on the bed side table to say I was disgusted is an understatement. The only good part was getting out of the cabin and visiting St Andrews as there was lots to do. I will definitely not be back

The lodge looked exactly as pictured on the hoseasons website. The kitchen was well kitted out with a dishwasher and washer/dryer which was a bonus. There is an airing cupboard which is great for overnight drying. Hot tub was fantastic, we used it daily, the sauna got fair use too. The lodge was well equipped with good quality fittings and fixtures. Only small niggles we had were, water pressure in showers quite poor, 3 out of 4 of us found the beds uncomfy. The views were beautiful, would have been perfect if they could be seen from the outside seating area however the wall blocked this. The hot tub was serviced every morning and the grass was cut and windows washed, the site is well maintained and quiet.
I'd definitely book again as it's well placed for visiting the little villages of the East Neuk as well as St Andrew's being a 5 minute drive. A car is essential, nearest pub is the Guardsbridge Inn (sunday lunch recommended) approx 20ish min walk along a country road, not for the faint hearted and certainly not in the dark.

We got back last night after staying here for 5days and the one thing I regret is not booking it for longer! The site is very quiet and secluded, which is perfect for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It is situated perfectly, and is nestled amongst so many things to do. I'm the sort of person, that doesn't like to stay at the same place more than once but I'd definitely come back here again. Upon arrival, everything was very straightforward. Our 2 dogs came with us, and as we entered the lodge for the first time, sat in the porch was a towel each for the dogs, a dog treat for them both and a couple of dog bags. A very nice touch indeed!! I was amazed that each ensuite had a bar of soap, the kitchen had teas, coffee etc to help yourself to and also there was dishwasher tablets provided. The lodge was spotless, and I normally have an eye like a hawk when it comes to checking the cleanliness of a holiday property. In fact, this is probably the first place we have stayed out of many, that I haven't complained about the cleaning standards. The sauna and hot tub was a lovely addition. The site too is beautifully maintained. Whilst we were getting ready to check out, a man came to empty the hot tub completely, scrub it clean, change the filters to brand new ones, and refill and retreat the water. I'm assuming this is done after each time someone checks out which I think is brilliant! I thoroughly recommend this site, and we will be back again! Thank you to Grant and his team!

My partner and I booked a 3 day break and we were extremely pleased with the whole experience. Effortless check-in process and the lodge was clean and luxurious. A romantic stroll to the old Course was a highlight. The lodge has fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. The hot tub was very clean and hot. The hot tub is surrounded by a fence for privacy which we liked very much. Free wi-fi always helps too. Will book again in winter, if there is any availability.

Just returned from a weekend break at the lodges and I can honestly say it was a brilliant weekend in the best setting.
The lodge is situated in a fantastic location close to St. Andrews but it also felt extremely quiet and private. The grounds were well maintained and everyone was polite and friendly.
The lodge was immaculate and had everything that we needed for a weekend trip. The hot tub was unreal and I think it’s the cleanest hot tub I’ve ever been in.
We had a walk to Strathkinnes inn for a drink and I’ve heard the food is also good there. We also walked to the Old Course hotel and had drinks at the jigger Inn. This was one of the highlights of staying at the lodge as it was so close by.
The worst part was leaving! Can’t wait to return for another break

One week's stay beginning of September. Good first impression nice well kept site in beautiful setting, lodge lovely spacious and initially looked clean. As previously advised high touch items removed except one welcome note which looked well handled doesn't make sense if welcome packs etc removed why has this note not been laminated so it can be sanitised. Luckily I always travel with cleaning products because there were obvious finger prints on glass in the lobby door and on the nest of tables not good in this day and age,and long after reception was closed I went to make dinner and the oven was filthy the contents of previous renters gravy/sauce had overflowed and was all over the bottom in burned on sticky patches plus the sides and back were greasy and dirty, the cleaners had removed the grill pan and put in clean tin foil in it so must have seen the state of the bottom of the oven!! We did have an out of hours number but needed to eat so cleaned it myself. We also had a couple of other problems which were sorted promptly by very nice professional staff. It's a shame the cleanliness let this place down after finding these problems couldn't trust the cleaning so spent a good while wiping all surfaces switches handles etc to be safe not a great start to a break. I wouldn't moan so much but they are asking you to leave earlier and arrive later to give them time to clean so you shouldn't arrive to dirty ovens!!

+1
Came here with a view of relaxing and that we did. Didn’t arrive til nearly 7pm due to working but that was no problem as lodge was open and ready for us.
Lodge was spacious open planned layout with lovely hot tub and sauna. Nice welcome pack provided with long life milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, washing up liquid, tea towel, bin bags and dishwasher tablets. Kitchen had everything we needed and we just self catered in the lodge all weekend. Planned a night out in St. Andrews but cancelled it due to the weather and we were happy enough staying in.
Lodge was very clean and modern with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Found mattress a bit firm but that’s just my own opinion. Wifi had fab reception.
Felt nice and secluded in the hot tub with a nice temperature even though we did bring hats due to the temperature.
Enjoyed a nice walk round tentsmuir forest then back to the lodge to chill out.
Would definitely recommend a stay here for exploring St. Andrews and the east neuk.

Hi Doreen
We are operating a self check in at present. You will receive a text from us on the day of your arrival after lunchtime with the checkin procedure :)
Small play area at reception, grassy areas between lodges however generally parked cars nearby.
I would think that you will be able to use the hot tub no problem in August. We stayed in January and were able to use the hot tub every day.
"Parking in St Andrews can be a hassle ,as to food shopping there is a good number of supermarkets in the St Andrews area and an M&S food ."Read full review
