On first impressions I thought, at least we are only staying one night. We were welcomed by a very nice young lady who showed us up to our room and directed me to the long stay car park near the Police station. The room looked a bit dated but was clean and tidy with towels etc. Unfortunately the hot water...

We had dinner in the dining area. The food was freshly prepared, tasty and generous portions at a reasonable price. The service was good and quite prompt. The decor wasOK and clean but perhaps a little tired. We Would eat here again.

My husband, myself and our little dog are looking forward to spending a few days in this historic listed building in the heart of Wareham. As it is listed, it has restrictions on the changes and updates that can be made to it but it is full of charm and the staff are friendly. So I disagree with Peter A...

Firstly I'd like to say I'm writing this review as I notice nearly all the positive reviews on this hotel are completely made up! We stayed here for a Friday and Saturday night just to get some sleep for a wedding & it ended up being the worst nights sleep ever. First off we had the bar directly below us...

We stopped for lunch here a pleasant sandwich and baked potato. Staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed the sheltered outside seating area. We had an enjoyable drink here the previous evening but decided not to eat as a band was getting ready. We would come back, other pubs were not doing food or only serving roasts.

Following review is ONLY about the restuarant. Unusual set up when walking through the front door. Bar to your right which you can sit in, lounge dining area to the left and down the long corridor past the kitchens is a dining hall (schooldinners?) Started in the dining hall and changed to the lounge area due to excessive noise from...

Dated, but that's fair enough for the price. Bathroom was quite dirty, bathroom door had been kicked in at some point and badly fixed.didnt have breakfast. Thin walls meant noise from other guests getting in until 1am. Not ideal on a week night. Ultimately can't complain as it was very cheap!

We stayed 11 and 12 July, we arrived around 8 in the evening with the bar in full activity, the first impressions from the young woman who gave us our room key and took payment were not great, we had booked a double room but were given a twin, when we queried this the young lady said they would rearrange...

My partner and I plus our friends stayed in this hotel for a weekend while attending a wedding in Wareham. Great little hotel with great pub and beer garden. Close to shops, hairdressers and it really is a pretty little town. Best part of this hotel was the lovely lady who made sure we felt welcome from the minute we...

We as a family took over the Bear on the 8th October 2012 and have been busy refurbishing the rooms and generally giving the old place a facelift, but not losing its character in the process. So the new management team, Lyn, Allan, Beccie, Podge and Maz would like you to welcome you if you choose to come and stay with us. There are several beautiful beaches and interesting sights close by. Wareham is an old market town enclosed by the famous walls and hold many historical features. The boat trips from the quayside to Poole are very popular. We are also central to Dorchester, Poole, Weymouth, Swanage and Corfe Castle, to name but a few. ... more   less
