Ive been here a few times and Giovani and his son that run it are always very polite, helpful and make sure we are well looked after. The "hotel" itself is really a B&B and could do with updating as it looks like it was last refurbed in the 1970's! That said, they do a hearty breakfast served in the...

The owner, Giovanni, is a delightful, welcoming host, as other reviewers have commented. Regretably, however, that cannot disguise the fact that the Alessandria desperately needs a facelift to bring it up to modern standards. By that I don't mean it needs fancy amenities (bar, pool, gym, etc) such as you'd get in a larger, purpose built hotel. Rather, it simply...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay with us, going by your description of the accommodation, I can only assume that you stayed in room 5, as this room has a free standing shower in the room itself, with an old building such as ours, we are limited on what we are able to...

Giovanni is a great host with a very warm hospitality. The rooms are clean and comfortable with an eclectic assortment of furnishings. The breakfast is served by Giovanni himself and he makes sure to know everyones name leading to a very welcome feeling. We have stayed here multiple times as we climb in Portland a lot. My favourite rooms are...

Four of us stayed here for one night in two double rooms. The rooms are definitely a bit dated but are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice, served by Simon who is very good with his guests, and takes pride in what he is doing. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the Alessandria for 3 nights, the owner and his son were perfect hosts, very welcoming and attentive, we were delighted with our en-suite room, it was basic in decor and a little old fashioned but it was clean and comfortable, what else do you need for a couple of nights away? Breakfast was excellent,...

A warm, very comfortable and clean, relaxed and welcoming place, with adequate facilities and a good breakfast, and a lovely friendly welcoming host. Convenient and quiet. Parking. A traditional, budget B&B. We turned up at the last minute on spec. and stayed one night. We will go back.

Very welcoming host, room and ensuite very clean and warm but dated. The breakfast was tasty and portions were a good size. Didn't spend a great deal of time in the room, but it was comfortable and suited me. I stayed for three nights.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights, we were lucky to find they still had a double room for us, the room was clean, basic and a little bit dated, but served us perfectly well for our needs, the bed was comfortable and the room was lovely and warm. Breakfast was delicious, a full English, it was too...

On the up side our host could teach most hoteliers a thing or too about hospitality. On the flip side this another portland establishment that offers shared bathrooms (or in our case a tiny en suite). Everything in the room was clean, and all the lights worked - but I it was rather cramped. Our breakfast was good. In an...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, whilst we are of course, delighted that you found some positives from your stay with us, we would like to point out, that we do not have a room 11, room 10 is a modern, standard single without en-suite facilities (one of three, all of which are sold at a...

Dropped into this B&B (it is not an hotel) hoping for an en-suite double room for the night. Simon happily gave us a family room at the double room rate as it was all he had available. Room was on the top (3rd floor) via the stairs. View was ok...the sea visible in the background. Bed was clean & comfortable...
