My daughter and I stayed here in October on a trip from the U.S. Chettle is a tiny, out of the way village with a peaceful old world charm. A very unique location, to be sure; but in the best of ways. It's places like this that make me so glad we planned our own trip. No packages, no tour...

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year, often eaten here, but never stayed. So glad we did, huge room, big bath room, I really liked the cast iron bath with ball and claw feet. Very nice to sip a glass of champagne in! Feels like you are staying in a private house with friends, they make you so welcome....

Negotiating the narrow lanes to get here is worth it.The feeling is one of being a house guest and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was tired, quaint and enormous but with a lovely view over countryside. The shower was an experience in itself but those with a sense of proportion will take that in their stride for the...

Went as part of a party of 12 for a 10th wedding anniversary. Amazing place, both inside and out, more like a country house hotel than an inn. My room was huge and beautifully furnished, the food was outstanding and the staff were warm and friendly. Would definitely go again.

This is a ’restaurant with rooms' quite unlike any other we've experienced. In a big, old house, large, un-modernised bedrooms and cosy sitting rooms with crackling fires surround a bright formal dining room where quite excellent food is served. This from ingredients from local suppliers and gardens, when possible, does not suffer from trying to be modern and adventurous, as...

We booked in for two nights on either side of an event we were attending at the Castleman... but what we had not realised was what a superb country stay it was going to be: olde worlde charm with welcoming hosts and a private house feel to all the public rooms, making you feel at home instantly. The cuisine was...

We loved this hotel. The first star is Chettle village which has delightfully not moved with the times. I took a four k walk before breakfast & it was quintessential rural England as so many of us love. The building is not luxurious but certain fits the ambivalent category of 'interesting' with several rooms for lounging. A big lawn for...

Enjoyed the room, service and food. Be careful some rooms have terrible mattresses and old beds which will really affect your sleep. The Wifi does not work in furthest rooms. Otherwise charming and peaceful. I would go there again

Having spent a pleasant 5 nights at this very unique and reasonably priced establishment so well summed up by previous reviews, we are very happy to endorse all the good things. We were made welcome in a large comfortable room and were astounded by the quality of both an extensive menu and cheerful service. The use by so many locals...
