Have lost count of the amount of times we have eaten here in the 30 years we have been on holiday in the area.Lovely situation out in the Dorset countryside.Easy to get there after you have been once.Lovely staff, especially Sharon, who will advise you of the menu and wines and beers etc.Efficient but not obtrusive service even when busy, which is every...

The Marquis of Lorne is located in quiet corner of Dorset down a back lane though only a handful of miles from Bridport. A range of beers are on tap in a separate bar from the dining area. The menu features a selection of interesting dishes some with far eastern flavours, as well as variations on popular dishes. Our choices...

Very friendly staff, room very good clean & comfortable. Excellent Chef & a busy restaurant with a very good, varied menu, and a very good full English breakfast. The only downside it would have been nice to return after a day out and have a drink in the garden before the bar opened at 6.00pm.

Very warm welcome from all the staff. The food was so good that we had to return during our week's stay. My wife and I tried four different dishes over the two visits and it's hard to say which was best - they were all so good! Definitely recommend this pub for food or drink!

had one night here on a business trip to the area, was made to feel very welcome, rooms small but spotless and very comfortable. Homely. Restaurant is busy with locals and visitors a like and well deserves the support. The food is well cooked and well presented- menu is very good with good use of local suppliers

Not sure what to expect but from previous reviews,The Marquis of Lorne proved to be a quiet and relaxing stay. The room (room 3) was reasonably appointed with a view over the garden and the local countryside. The food in the restaurant was, however, absolutely fantastic. Beautifully cooked and presented with a choice of good wines. The hosts were welcoming...

Sunday lunch for 5 on the 2nd August - great roasts, beef, pork or lamb - all cooked fresh and hot with loads of vegetables and gravy - £11 for one course £16 for two. Highly recommended. A beautiful day so sat in the garden, peaceful and picturesque - what's not to like?!

Was in Dorset for one night and had the Marquis recommended as a good place to stay. Arrived early afternoon and was shown to a lovely room with 4-poster bed and wonderful views. Dinner menu had a great selection at reasonable prices - had a delicious haddock and chips washed down with couple of pints of well kept and very...

I only stayed for the weekend. I was there to scatter my ex Son - in - Laws ashes in West Bay, obviously a fairly sad occasion. However the owner and staff were very friendly and made us feel more than welcome. My room was extremely comfortable and spotless with excellent en suite facilities. It was located quite well off...

We visited the Marquis of Lorne for a short break, the rooms are basic but clean tidy and comfortable, the bar area is typical pre gastro pub, old country and is comfortable, warm and welcoming, local bear is very good. As for the food, well you have to sample it to believe it, absolutey brilliant, faultless, enjoyed every meal. The...
