The hotel is very tired looking and could do with a major revamp, it was not worth the money. Breakfast did not start till 830!!! So if your working away this is no good and the staff are abrupt and not very helpful, The bath was all stained, the sink was cracked and it looked like it had been there...

Used the Royal Hotel as a base to attend an event in the area. I don't really have much to add about this hotel. The best way I can describe it is, its like someone walked out in the 1980's and this week I walked in and nothing changed. It is tired and dated. But it is clean and the...

My advice if you are thinking of booking would be to look for a B&B. Unfortunately the hotel is incredibly run down - ripped wall paper & carpets, rotten floor boards etc. It is shabby and needs a lot of investment. However, it is in a great location, it's clean and the staff are really good. A real shame.

We have just had two nights at the Royal Hotel and have mixed feelings. We were warmly welcomed by reception. Our room was clean but very dated. The bed was comfortable. The wallpaper was starting to peel in places and the woodwork a bit chipped. The bathroom was a throwback to the 1960's, again it was clean but there were...

the rooms were good, some people moan about the tv picture, but you don't go on holiday to watch tv. the amenaties were good, free swimming pool which they supply towels for you to use. breakfast was buffet style so u help yourself. plenty of choice of cereals, and full English. entertainment was fair, the kids enjoyed it.

Tired décor, inflexible meal times and an uncomfortable bed - not very inspiring but a very reasonable price so it really is a case of you get what you pay for. The staff were all excellent though constrained by the rules of the house.

We booked up with the Royal Hotel last minute as we fancied a weekend in Woolacombe, after reading reviews about it being dated and needing work etc, we decided to go for it, after all, it was £70 for a night with breakfast included... The staff were polite, the rooms were clean, the views were nice and there was ample...

Just had a one night stay here whilst on business in Devon. The best thing about this rundown place is that the sheets are clean and the breakfast was quite good. Unfortunately that's about it!!! The place is pretty grotty and run down. I had a room with a balcony, this was in a dreadful state and I wouldn't dream...

Wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are in a wheelchair as the access to the dining room is only up some stairs.there are also steep steps leading from the car park although there are disabled spaces outside the rear entrance just watch out for the potholes. The hotel is badly in need of an uplift.threadbare carpets everywhere and the whole place...

I booked a weekend break to take my mother away - What I wasn't advised about was a "themed weekend" of Line Dancing for the whole 3 days. Was pleased with the ground floor room near the restaurant as my mother has severe breathing difficulties, BUT our room was above the function room. The live bands and the continuous stomping...
