We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Millbrook Cottages and had a truly amazing stay. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a good choice for our mini break.

The proprietors clearly know how to create a luxurious environment and have invested heavily to deliver a truly beautiful, tranquil and comfortable offering for their guests. We were completely blown away at the high specification and attention to detail within our accommodation and the surrounding estate. Bob, Kate and the team run a very slick operation that's totally focused on providing their guests with a priceless experience.

It's very rare that I feel motivated to review a venue but the Millbrook Estate deserves a special mention. It delivers on it's promise...'Heaven in Devon'!

In 2015 a customer came into Christine's shop and during conversation she (name unknown) mentioned that Millbrook was a special place to get married at. We were looking to get wed and had not found anywhere we liked; in January 2016 we were agreeing with this unknown lady as we got married there and have celebrated our anniversary there every year since.
23rd - 27th January 2020 our latest visit.
It is a really special place from the minute you drive through the gates you are in Magical Millbrook. A beautiful setting lovingly cared for and unspoilt.
We stay in the dog friendly Wheelroom as Sophie our border collie is always with us. We are greeted by spotlessly clean rooms, the smell of freshly baked bread, a gluten free chocolate cake for Christine as she is coeliac and a dog welcome crate containing treats, towels in case you use all your own, toys and a vetbed.
You want for absolutely nothing and any special requirements are never too much trouble for Bob, Kate and all of the Millbrook team, who are all extremely friendly and great to have a chat with.
The rooms have plush traditional feel to them with modern technology discreetly integrated throughout.
Outside there is 30+ acres of grounds to walk the dog with views of the Devonshire countryside, shared with Alpacas, goats, geese and a couple of very entertaining ducks.
It would be very easy to not leave the grounds but as land locked Salopians we usually visit one of the nearby beaches for a dose of sand and sea.
It has to be a special place to visit every year in January when the days are long and often grey and wet but that is what Millbrook is. Our winter ray of sunshine at the gloomiest time of year.
Would we recommend it. Yes without reservation.
Would we go back.....2021 already booked.
Chris, Christine and Sophie

We have recently returned from Millbrook were we held our 'Just for Two' wedding in the summerhouse on the 20th December 2020. A big thank you to Bob & Nicola for what was a fantastic stress free day and the weather even turned too!! So our photographer Rebecca was able to get some great shots around the magical grounds. We then spent the afternoon lazing in the hot tub, a perfect end to a perfect day.

The accommodation is to a very high standard with the lovely touch of freshly baked bread filling the air as you walk in. We stayed in Corncott which was spotlessly clean with a well appointed kitchen housing everything you need.

We wouldn't hesitate recommending Millbrook either for your wedding venue or as a base to explore North Devon. We will be back in the summertime to do exactly that.

We visited Millbrook on 23 December for a couples romantic bolt hole for Christmas. As soon as we arrived the location and accommodation made us feel special. We stayed in Lakeview, it has it own private hot tub which is romantically lit with fairy lights at night, we used this as much as we could even in adverse weather! Everything is very private whilst you still feeling close to amenities and any help you may need from the owners, Bob & Kate, who provided just the right amount of support and were such lovely people.

We were greeted by Zig & Zag the resident ducks, together with Ruby a beautiful Fox Red Labrador who our Pug made best friends with! It was all the little things that made our stay wonderful, the cake waiting us, dog treats ands toys and birthday banner! We brought lots of food & drink with us but there was an honesty bar so you could have had a gin without the need to lug a bottle with you! There are too many other things to mention, the beautiful Emma Bridgewater crockery, Sonos system and quality fixtures and fittings to name but a few...

On Christmas Eve we were brought a chocolate house which was a lovely touch, we joined the family to feed the Alpaca on Christmas morning too which was a unique experience. We had such beautiful weather on Christmas morning we walked around the estate and found some magical spots, this would be an ideal retreat for a family celebration or wedding. The location is walking distance to a small village with a really welcoming pub and a 15 minute drive to larger stores. We enjoyed a wonderful beach walk in Woolacombe over the period we stayed.

I would highly recommend this location, private enough for you to completely shut yourself away from the world and forget the daily grind but with enough close by to immerse yourself in all that the area has to offer. We will definitely be back!

Now that we are back home following our recent wedding we can give some well-deserved feedback and support to the people and businesses that helped make our wedding and time away very special.
What can we say – a picture paints a thousand words however even the wonderful website cannot do justice to just how beautiful this hidden gem is.
Our wedding was booked for 02nd Feb 2020 and the arranged stay was from Saturday afternoon to Tuesday morning. We stayed in the Wheel room with our furbabies and it was magnificent. Linda, Bob, Kate and Sam our wedding co-ordinator pulled out all of the stops to make sure that our experience was as relaxing and magical from the minute we arrived. Oh and not to forget the many Animals on site including Ruby, our girls were transfixed but mostly well behaved! – Our little “Asbo” Ati (mini Dach) was defending us against Zig & Zag the ducks and the Alpacas, just in case ha ha.
The entire process from initial booking to arrival was seamless with regular contact from Millbrook to ensure that we were happy and catered for at every turn.
This venue has an unassuming charm about it and there was no hard sell that you can experience in other venues as our wedding was very intimate we had time to time next year!!!
On the day of the wedding we had arranged for a local supplier @MewsCottage (Millbrook provide approved supplier lists) to provide and light wedding lunch and it was beautiful, we also booked use of the venue BBQ hut and as we had a Tesco shop delivered to Millbrook and purchased some top quality steak from a local butchers Hirons – we had a slap up Wedding Tea in the forest with Alexa picking up the play list.
The Sun came out on the day of the wedding allowing for an outdoor ceremony which suited with the dogs (bridesmaids) being present, the other days were hit and miss weather wise but that is February for ya!
Our wonderful photographer @MichelleLey (also from approved vendor list) was multi-tasking, holding dog reigns, taking snaps and trying not to slip into bushes – we had many, many laughs on the day 
All thanks to Bob, Kate, Linda and the very talented Sam as they are the true assets of Millbrook, it takes courage, determination, great communication and tons of passion to turn a venue into memories to last a lifetime. Keep up the great work and we will see you very soon.
Lots of love,
Carl & Andi Heywood and the girls 

Hi Carl, Andi & not forgetting your gorgeous girls! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely words, they really do mean the world to us and we love hearing how your time at Millbrook made you feel. You have captured exactly how we want all of our guests to feel. Its great that you loved our BBQ hut in the woods and sampled the steak from Hirons as well as the gorgeous wedding lunch from Mews Cottage. We are very proud of our approved supplier list as they all represent the standards we are so proud of here at Millbrook. We consider it such a privilege to be part of our couples special day and hope that you will think of your time with us fondly for years to come and even return for an Anniversary! Wishing you all the love and best for the future!

We have just returned from our 4th stay at the Millbrook Estate. Needless to say we absolutely love staying there. You feel like you are entering a world of tranquility as soon as you drive through the gates. Everything is there to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing, get away from all the stresses and strains of life. This time, for the first time, we also took advantage of the free gym / spa passes at nearby High Bullen which was very enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you to Kate, Bob and the team for continuing to maintain such a wonderful relaxing place to stay. We will be back, again, very soon.

Wow..amazing place hidden away.
We arrived and the electric gates opened and we were gobsmacked at how beautiful it was, just unreal.
We stayed at lakeview and had our very own private garden, with sun-loungers and chairs and hot tub and BBQ, all in the picturesque garden.
We entered lakeview cottage with love songs playing, rose petals on the bed and the smell of baking bread. It was spotless inside and everything you could wish for, really is a 5 star accommodation anyone who stays her will not be disappointed.
Our wedding was organised by Maddy, and again it was perfect she had thought of everything,it was an elope wedding and faultless, just perfect.
I must say Beca Roundhill was our photographer and she put us at ease, and took the most stunning natural photo's.
The day was perfect and we will definitely return for out anniversary,if we could give them 6 stars we would.
Well done Millbrook Cottages, for our perfect wedding.

Our weekend stay at the Millbrook Estate was truly exceptional, and we were thoroughly impressed by the meticulous attention to detail displayed by the hosts, Bob and Kate. The small touches made our experience truly memorable.

The accommodation was nothing short of fabulous and the grounds were beautiful which helped to make for a completely relaxing break.

What set our stay apart was the thoughtful consideration for our four-legged companions. Bringing our two dogs was a joy, as they were exceptionally well-catered for, adding an extra layer of comfort to our visit.

Bob and Kate have truly created a haven for those seeking a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and natural beauty.

We ran away to Millbrook for our intimate wedding and we couldn’t have wished for more. Our stay at Rose Cottage was so special and such a gem. Very tasteful and everything we needed for a relaxing weekend especially the freshly baked bread and cake 😋 It is such a lovely setting at Millbrook and was a magical place to get hitched, we loved every minute of it. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful and Linda who helped us all the way is our super star 🌟 If you get the chance treat yourself to the fine dining experience with Justine five stars all the way.
So all our love everyone at Millbrook for making our stay with you so memorable and fun. See you again soon.

This is our second time visiting Millbrook and again it doesn’t disappoint. Both times we have stayed in Lakeview as we like the coziness and private hot tub, albeit a little too cold and rainy to get in!
On our arrival we were greeted by another amazing cake (apple crumble) which was delicious. The accommodation was clean and homely and had all the mod-cons.
The jacuzzi bath is a must if you can’t get in the hot tub 😆.
It was lovely to see friendly familiar faces and everyone made you feel welcome. We will definitely be recommending (again) Millbrook to everyone and most certainly booking a 3rd visit

Is there parking at Rose Cottage? We ideally need off-street private parking.
Answer from KateBoothby
High Bickington, Devon154 contributions48 helpful votes
Hi, sorry for the delay, we have been away on holiday. Rose is in High Bickington, a very quiet village. There is no off-street private parking but usually, the space just outside Rose is available, it's not reserved but neighbours tend to keep it empty for our guests, if not the road behind Rose is very quiet and you should be able to easily park behind the cottage. Hope this helps

I’m not sure, as the apartment we stayed in had just one double bedroom. If you call Millbrook, however, they do have larger accommodation too. Believe me, the place is something very special!
