This is a nice traditional pub with lots of character. We had a friendly welcome and ate some excellent home cooked food. Very reasonable prices too. We also enjoyed a couple of games of pool! We will definitely return.

We stayed at the Portsmouth Arms with friends for a couple of days before our wedding and had a fantastic stay. Can't fault it at all. We stayed in the cottages which were lovely - really nice and modern and it was great to have a separate downstairs living area separate from the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. We had a...

Never been to this quiet gem of a pub/hotel before, and my husband not been here for many years. What can I say? One of the best, if not the best, eating out places in the area. Restaurant was lovely and roomy and the food was so freshly cooked and delicious. This place was recommended to us and I can...

A stay in the cottages right next to the pub, is like having your own country getaway with a pub and restaurant right on the doorstep. Great value for money. The pub is a traditional old fashioned coaching Inn with excellent real ales and is run by a lovely...

Stayed here recently when attending a wedding. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Warm welcome, good food (breakfast was made to order) and the room was exceptional - very clean and fabulously furnished. The landlady even waited up for us to return from our wedding and enjoy a night cap. Would definitely stay again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in the Portsmouth Arms. accommodation was really comfortable, great nights sleep. The food is excellent, Dee is a great cook and the portions are really generous. We enjoyed meeting the locals, everyone is very friendly and would not hesitate to go back when we are down that way again.
