Delicious cream tea served in an elegant , relaxing environment. Melt in the mouth scones. Staff very welcoming, attentive yet unobtrusive. Dog friendly too. Wonderful, and great value for money. Highly recommended.

Two night stay for birthday celebration. This time in a room in the main building. Room 17, warm and bright, double aspect, with distant views of the moor from the bed, plus creaky floorboards! We decided to explore the Courthouse next door but found it noisy (two large TVs at full volume covering different football matches) and lacking atmosphere so...

Stayed here for 1.5 days and 1 night for an extended work meeting. The room we were given for the meeting was nice although a little on the stuffy side at the end of a long day but that was probably more down to our meeting length than the room itself! The price we paid was excellent value for what...

My husband and I spent two nights here for my birthday celebration in April. We're keen NationalTrust members so it's ideally situated for properties in both Devon and Cornwall. The hotel room was beautifully coordinated and comfortable with fantastic double aspect views as it was on the corner of the building. The property is steeped in history and could be...

Dear DorsetJayne I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and thought it great value. I am sorry about the water problem. This was a snag that we just not trace but eventually we have tracked it down to a blocked pressure reducing valve. This has now been fixed and we are back to have lots of...

It felt like staying with friends. The sitting room is lovely place to relax and read or play cards and the garden is a pretty quiet spot to have a cream tea. The bedroom was comfortable and nicely decorated.

We stopped for a night on our way back from Cornwall and it was a treat. This is the most relaxing hotel, it feels like you are staying with friends, with a lovely garden for a cream tea and the best hotel drawing room I've seen, full of armchairs and sofas. We will be back.

For the fishing, when visitors from overseas wanted to see the West Country as well as a treat for my parents wedding anniversary. The food and ambience is great, with the accommodation OK to good. Definitely not to be missed.

Booked last minute en route from Isles of Scilly to the Midlands. Arrived late and a lovely supper was brought to our room. Our young dog was so delighted when he saw a comfy bed, blanket, treat and meal waiting for him. Breakfast was excellent and would recommend even without a dog!
