Very nice food. With open log fire Very acceptable prices. Family of 4 with drinks under £40. Steak and ale pie is delicious. Roast beef also very good. I haven't stayed here but the rooms look nice a cosy.

This place is excellent for what we want...if like us you want a great local pub with friendly people who can't do enough to help you, good food and beer, a place you can walk out onto Dartmoor without seeing a road, a place that loves dogs, and with no frills camping - water/waste/electric hook ups...look no further...love this place...

Was on way home from Tavistock and the place caught my eye. Stopped and had tea. Was well presented and delicious. Priced reasonably too. Nice open fire. Had a game of pool too. Table was in poor condition though.

Pub number 34 as we work our way round all the pubs on Dartmoor. I have been here before after a long walk on the moor a few years ago, and I was keen to return. We were greeted with a warm welcome from a man who clearly enjoys his job, which contributed greatly towards the lovely atmosphere here. The...

Nice friendly pub serves food, which is really good, located on the roadside, very convenient for lunch. Try the cream tea, the home made sclnes were the best I've ever tasted. Serves lots of different ales. Lots of locaal drinking and eatung there, very good sign

A wonderful welcome and excellent customer service all through my stay. A warm, friendly and caring atmosphere with a homely feel. I had a tasty bar meal and there was a wonderful choice for breakfast. Dog friendly and excellent position for walking. Will return!

We started by having a Sunday roast, washed down with a local ale (well, I did at least). The food was fantastic, just what the doctor ordered, with a lovely open fire. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive, no complaints. The accommodation was reasonable and whilst we had no qualms with the rustic nature (it wasn't meant to be...

This is a great place to stay for those searching for cosy and simple. The family room was so warm and welcoming after a day out on the cold moors in November. The staff were friendly, rooms were nice and clean, the breakfast fantastic and we had a very enjoyable evening meal in the pub warming ourselves by the fire.

Made an impromptu visit hoping for a lunch on a Sunday while out walking with our Border Terrier. Although not having a booking mine host went out of his way to find us a table near the fire and welcomed the dog too ( we were prepared to eat in the garden). A comprehensive but unpretentious menu, very reasonably priced....
