We have been here a few times before we moved overseas and this admittedly was our first visit in 8 years. Sadly it fell short of expectations as this used to be our favourite hotel. Whilst our room was beautiful and the food impeccable there seems to have been a shift away from the terribly discrete and professional staff who... More

We have been to Gidleigh park previously and have enjoyed the wonderful ambiance as well as the culinary offering of both the current and previous chef. We therefore arrived for Sunday lunch with a certain level of expectation. The only difference this time was that we were a party of 28. How realistic was it to expect a chef to... More

What an amazing part of the world, the property is set within the stunning Dartmoor National Park, while the hotel itself is set on beautifully maintained gardens, with rooms that match the beauty of the local area. The drinks selection and restaurant were second to none, and I am certainly glad we chose the tasting menu and left it up... More

The team at Gidleigh Park were professional, friendly and helpful they made our weekend very special. The grounds and surrounding countryside are breathtakingly beautiful. Perfect for short or long woodland walks along the cascading river Teign.

A wonderful hotel. Outstanding location. Service is efficient but still friendly. Rooms are lovely. Food is top class and exhibits flair, imagination and skill. Expensive, but worth every penny for those special occasions and definitely one for your bucket list.

Visited as we treated mum for her birthday to champagne afternoon tea. Building is stunning with sumptuous decor. We had afternoon tea in the lounge over looking the gardens and moor - simply beautiful. Staff were very attentive and tea was amazing. We didn't eat all our cakes so staff very happily boxed them up for us. Scones straight out... More

Wonderful room in a fantastic property in a magnificent setting. Room was spotlessly clean and very very well equipped, and comfortable in every regard. Staff, and I mean each and every one of them, were fantastic. Highly professional but thoroughly personable. To the food...breakfast was excellent, but the ten course taster dinner was at times almost indescribably good. I can... More

We stayed here for four nights in September. Everything about it was wonderful. The staff were always on hand to help with whatever was needed, without hovering. The food was just as you would expect. My husband has a few allergies . The kitchen more than coped with this with giving him a menu of his own every evening. The... More

A special place with attentive staff. For directions to this hotel look at hotel website first. The long narrow drive (with passing places) is well worth navigating. We went in the autumn when the surrounding woodlands are wonderful at this time of year.

Persevere with the seemingly never ending single track road up to the hotel - it will be worth it in the end. We came here for lunch and loved every minute of it.
