Hotel management and staff should be commended. Running a hotel at the minute must be extremely difficult, with lots of added pressures, but an excellent job is being done here! ☺️
Accessible bedroom is spacious with a double bed, small table & chairs, fridge, kettle and low level safe. However, bedroom carpet is difficult to wheel on and wardrobe railings were out of reach. A member of staff kindly supplied a portable clothes rail during my stay. Bedside sockets are needed as current sockets are inaccessible due to large desk.
Features of accessible bathroom include a wheel-in shower, shower chair, reachable shower controls, removable shower head and emergency pull cord. Unfortunately, sink is high and difficult to use due to its deep surround. Bathroom mirror is too high. As shown in attached photos, soap dispenser is unreachable as pole under sink unit is blocking access. Bathroom door doesn’t close properly so cannot be locked; a previous review also stated this from several months ago. A shower curtain is required to protect a wheelchair from getting wet. Overall, this accessible bathroom was very disappointing with limited space.
Noise was an issue on our second night due to a dinner dance, this resulted in little to no sleep for our group. When music finally ended, guests proceeded to congregate in the corridor beside our rooms, this noise continued until 4.30am. A noisy industrial fan in the courtyard outside can also be heard each morning from 7.30am.
Please note, full rate is charged for this accessible double room regardless of number of occupants, which is unfair to disabled guests if they prefer their own room.
We had dinner in Nanny Kelly's Bar on both evenings, which has good food and a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful during our stay.
Felt very judged as soon as we tried to check in by the rude receptionist.
Service in the restaurant was also shocking, we stayed while the 1 hour 45 minute table time limit was in place we did not even wait for it to be up waitress was blatantly ignoring us.
Room was very noisy and unbelievably hot at night
Wouldn’t recommend at all.
Then an hour after getting to the room they called to tell us there was a mix up and it was at this point I realised that I was overcharged. Wasn't at the hotel much for the stay but when I checked out the next day the girl told us that she can't guarantee a refund and I could tell that she wasn't too bothered about the situation. This is not the language you use when you have overcharged someone for a 1 night stay. The wrong phone number and name was on the room and I told them that I would like for a manager to call us back and still have not got that call.
Overall a very good stay and we would recommend this hotel.
Staff are a real asset to this hotel. They deserve a lot of credit.
Very nice professional set-up, very comfortable place to stop. Great bathroom facilities, well stocked bar with quick service
We were assured that the simple pasta dish had no egg but when we reconfirmed it had egg.
When we finally agreed a dairy meal for a child- mash potatoes had milk.
All allergies and a plan had been agreed with the events officer Laura Brennan before we arrived.
