The Glenview Hotel & Leisure Club garners praise for its exceptional cleanliness, particularly the immaculate bathrooms, although there are occasional mentions of soap dispenser issues. While opinions on value vary, with some guests considering the costs high, the hotel's location is widely celebrated for its proximity to natural attractions and outdoor activities. The service is generally regarded as warm and efficient, despite a few reports of inconsistency. Guests enjoy the hotel's lively atmosphere and amenities, although some suggest the rooms could benefit from modern updates and repairs.

Excellent hotel with spectacular views! The staff of this hotel are absolutely exceptional - very friendly, helpful and professional. Hotel is absolutely spotless with hand sanitisers everywhere, your temp is also taken on arrival so overall we felt very safe. Pool and outdoor hot tub are fabulous - staff here were also great. Unfortunately didn't get to try the Spa but will definitely return and book in advance this time. Food is the Restaurant was absolutely gorgeous we had lunch, dinner and breakfast the following day and you couldn't fault anything. The only negative I would have is lack of a view from room as we were on ground floor. I would ask for a different room next time.

Was apprehensive about visiting due to covid, however once we were there all our worries were gone due to sanitisation stations located everywhere. Only concerns were that not one staff member was wearing a face mask or a face shield??? Stayed in other hotels in Ireland and staff were wearing face shields and masks and it just makes the whole experience a bit more relaxing. Bar was also confusing as government guidelines state bars cannot open and this bar was essentially running as normal? Of course we were not going to complain about a running bar but seems some of the covid rules do not apply to the glenview hotel. However, our stay was fantastic. We were in a newly furnished room which was clean and had all ammenties available. Have to book a slot to swim which can be done in reception and the swimming pool is great the kids loved it. Booking is also required for breakfast and restaurant. Food in restaurant was sublime and the desserts were also delicious and all very well prices for a high end restaurant. Location wise it cannot be beaten, just off the n11 and close to bray and greystones which are beautiful on sunny days. The gardens are also ideal to sit out in and have a pint. The gardens are very well maintained and clean. Any staff member we came in contact with was great, showing interest in the kids and having a laugh with us. Thanks to Vicki and Jack in the bar for some great cocktails and mock tails for the kids and good conversations too they were so pleasant and made us feel so welcome. Plenty of beer and cocktails to choose from in the bar although some cocktails are expensive but tasty! Would recommend sitting in the bar rather than the lounge as lounge has little to no atmosphere. Overall we had a great stay, we are definitely looking forward to coming back as a family soon. Thanks everyone

Hotel is set in a wonderful location and everything is just a short drive away. If you are booking a room make sure to request one at the front of the hotel as the view out the back of the hotel is a mound of dirt and the initial room was dull and dreary. I feel like attention to detail is really missing in this hotel and would make the world of difference- window areas in rooms and around hotel lack basic cleaning and this is so easily fixed.
The service in the bar was terrible with ridiculous waiting times and only a handful of people in the bar- constantly having to try and grab the attention of a staff member to get a drink! They just seemed so uninterested, not what you want on a relaxing get away. There were 6 cocktails on the menu, 3 of which we couldn't have because they had no RUM and still hadn't got some over our 3 night stay??
The one great thing in the hotel was the food, the evening meal was fab and the views from the restaurant are great. Has such potential but unfortunately lacked the service you'd like on a break away. Can't include the lads checking the temperature entering hotel each time, they were extremely friendly and mannerly!

We recently stayed in the Glenview hotel and were very disappointed with our stay. We had booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. On arrival we were given our keys only to find there were only 3 beds in the room. On return to Reception, they offered to put in an extra bed but as the room was quite small and both teenagers are over 6ft this wasn't going to be an option. We did get allocated an extra room further down the corridor, but this meant that we had to split up, with the inconvenience this brings. The 2nd room, while clean and well maintained was very dark, looking out onto a bank of trees. I would definitely recommend requesting a room at the front of the hotel if you plan to stay here in the future.
The main restaurant was the only option available to us for food (due to Covid) and we could only get a booking for 9.15. The menu was very limited, the food was very average and quite expensive e.g. €17.95 for roast of the day - which was 2 very small slices of roast beef served on a little bed of mashed potatoes. We got two small portions of veg and potatoes for 4 of us. Deserts cost €7.95 each and again were very small. The frangipane tart was served with no more than a small eggcup of ice cream . Breakfast was ok - the offerings on the hot buffet were average. Other options were limited (perhaps again due to covid).
When we booked, we enquired about the swimming pool - one of our main reasons for booking Glenview, and were told we could only book it when we checked in. On doing so there were no options available at all on the day we requested. A member of the Leisureclub staff that we should have received an email telling us to book in advance but we hadn't.
There were other small things (such as the bar area being very dreary and just needing some TLC, there wasn't a mask in sight except for 1 person serving breakfast, being sold out of a well known beer, gin served in wine glasses, tables not being cleaned, etc.) that when added to our experience, makes the hotel definitely more a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. The overall stay for two nights for two adults and two teenagers was overpriced for what we felt was a very average stay. Sadly we couldn't recommend it for a family stay and won't be going back

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting the review. I am sorry about the mix up with the booking. We had hoped that offering an extra room at no cost for the two teenagers would have been well received. The Covid 19 restrictions on operating the restaurant and the leisure facilities are onerous and inconvenient for our guests . Some of our team do wear masks in critical areas but there is no directive for the hospitality sector to do so. In relation to the restaurant I don't agree that a main course of Sirloin of Beef in a full service restaurant with freshly cooked vegetables and potatoes included is expensive at €17.95 nor a homemade desert at €7.95. Overall I regret that you did not leave the hotel with a good impression. Some of the detail you wrote is very helpful to us as a team as we are always trying to improve. Kind Regards Paul O' Meara General Manager.

I use this hotel whenever I’m working in the area and usually have no problem at all.
On the last occasion I experienced enough to put me off staying again.
One of the issues was the water quality coming through the taps in my room, wasn’t just coloured it was filthy. Couldn’t enjoy a bath or even wash or brush my teeth the next morning. While I understand that this may be outside of the hotels control and happens sometimes, it was the way the receptionist handled my informing her that disappointed me. No apology, just grunted at me that she would go up to the room and check this, almost felt like she didn’t believe me.
The other issue I had during this stay was the breakfast. I can honestly say that it was the worst breakfast I’ve ever had the misfortune of being offered. I say offered because there was no way I could to eat what was on offer from the hot buffet. Everything was burnt and dried out, and I mean burn. Wish I had taken some photos but I was in too much of a hurry to mess around. Service was also poor, was met with a grunt while requesting room number, no smile, no welcome, no manners.

I stay in hotels all over the country for business and for a 4 star this hotel lacks some of the basic quality that separates the great hotels from the rest. Just because it may look great doesn’t guarantee a great experience.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your very valuable feedback following your recent stay with us. I am very disappointed to read we did not entirely meet your expectations on this occasion and would like to sincerely apologise for the fall down in service received. You mentioned that the water in your room was filthy. There is a yellow hew off the water which is due to the lighting in the bathroom. To demonstrate this we have poured water from the bath tap into a glass and when we put the glass up to the light it showed that the water was clear in colour. I am sorry this was not explained to you when you brought this matter to our attention. I have passed your comments regarding your breakfast experience to our Head Chef and to the Restaurant Manager for their attention and follow up. Please be assured these matters will be addressed and dealt with accordingly. I deeply regret your poor experience on this occasion and would ask that you give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves. Please contact me prior to your next visit when it will be my pleasure to personally oversee your stay and show you that our complete hospitality offering is of the superb quality. In the meantime, please contact me at the hotel if you wish to discuss your experience further. Kind regards, Paul O'Meara General Manager 01 2740000

Just arrived home after a lovely weekend away in this hotel. Arrived on Saturday early afternoon for a wedding to be greated at reception by a very friendly (and very funny) guy who instantly made us feel welcome. Myself and my partner were able to get an early check in which was fab. The wedding itself was small and intimate. Beautiful day for a beautiful ceremony.

The food we had all weekend was delicious. From the meal at the wedding to the soup and sambos for lunch and the gorgeous buffet breakfast, we were always left satisfied.

Every staff member we came across was extremely welcoming, friendly and above all, very helpful.

In regards to the current covid-19 pandemic, every part of this hotel was cleaned and sterilised regularly. Social distancing protocol was very much in place, so we always felt comfortable.

We already can't wait to come back 🙌

Oh and the pool and outdoor hot tub is to die for 🙌❤

Stayed during Covid-19. Front of house & reception staff fantastic ( Johnathon, Anouk & Sabine)
The cleaning standards of bedrooms were disgusting, toilets not cleaned on several days, dirty surfaces and sinks. Despite management being made aware of this (some were very helpful). We are in the middle of a pandemic and general manager Paul ignored our complaint, and physically went out of his way to avoid addressing the issue with us on the 5th complaint we made ( he saw us and walked the other way) he landed the issues he should have dealt with personally on the management and staff beneath him . There is no point in swanning around (Paul) at breakfast lifting a few plates when there are more serious issues at hand. This hotel is running the risk of making many individuals very unwell. Management ,is the issue here.
Please don’t waste your well earned money and risk your health. The hotel is set in a beautiful area, but as an independent hotel it therefore doesn’t have to meet the standards that a chain of hotels would. The hotel needs a good deep clean, freshening up , and an in-depth training of cleaning needs, especially during this pandemic. Thanks to those I mentioned in the opening sentence. Any one of you would really make a fantastic general manager. Stay safe

The hotel put us in a very old room extremely different from the photos of the room on the website, the bathroom was for disabled guests which is fine of course however all the supports were dirty and rusty. We are extremely worried about the Covid 19 cleaning policy after noticing that the bed was dirty, full of hair and there were hairpins and hair extensions on the floor. It disturbingly appears that the sheets weren’t changed. called and asked someone from the hotel Reception to check the room and 15 minutes later he arrived and saw the whole situation. The hotel put us in a much better room next to the dirty one. We then scheduled a time at the pool and when we got back, the bathroom was wet, and we saw that there was a leak coming over the toilet. After all the stress and disappointment we decided to just relax when we were annoyed to discover that the television didn't work.
After all that the next day, we had breakfast and paid beforehand €50 for 2 breakfasts.

When we checked out, the hotel manager charged us for breakfast again and made a comment like “everybody has to pay for their breakfast” and even with the receipt he wanted to confirm with another employee that they paid and said that everything was fine and that they didn’t  need the receipt. No apology or anything of course. The manager then asked if the accommodation was ok and my we said no and that they had several problems, but as there were people in the queue, the manager did not ask what the problems were and thanked us and walked away from us. Is this really normal in a 4 star hotel? As international guests having travelled all over the world we received better service in some backpacker hostels. we felt absolutely terrible with a lack of respect, we felt that it was due to prejudice and xenophobia?? We’ve informed the HSE about the dirt and asked Bord Failte about the 4 stars and how these are awarded.

Point Blank, we were treated like dirt and it seemed as if they hotel was doing us a favour by “hosting” us.

Went for a three day family break and really enjoyed our stay. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and professional, COVID-19 precautions were excellent, the kids enjoyed the swimming pool, the food was delicious, it's in a great location for local attractions and the manager who always seemed to be around and helping out, is a credit to the hotel. Will definitely return.
Our very minor suggestion is to signpost the woodland walk loop so you are sure how to get back to the hotel!

Stayed here with my partner for NYE. Upon check in we were greeted by a lovely girl I think called Sandra. We got to our room nice and quick. The room was clean and basic with a nice touch of a coffee machine. We were given the option to eat in the restaurant for €80 pp four course meal or the bar. We opted for the bar and both got chicken korma. It was lovely yet the portion was extremely small for €18 and found ourselves hungry after it. I mentioned this to a waiter and our desserts were on the house which was a nice gesture and we appreciated this. Previously in the night I had explained to reception that there was a noise in our bathroom like pipes rattling off one another randomly loud for 10 seconds now and then. As it was difficult to explain we did not go further with it and but it did wake us in the night. We decided to eat breakfast in the hotel although not included in our package for €15 pp. I have to say it was probably the worst breakfast we have eaten. Unfortunately, the sausages were like they were from a packet in a supermarket and were burnt, the eggs tasted like they had been fried at 7am that morning, were extremely rubbery and rock solid. The rashers were extremely full of fat and grease also. My partner ended up not eating much of the fry and just opted for a bowel of cereal. The staff were accommodating and gave myself poached eggs, yet for €15 euro it just wasn’t good enough. It reminded me of a deli breakfast that had been cooked hours before unfortunately. All in all, lovely hotel with nice facilities and staff but could improve food.
