I spent three weeks at the Mariposa in October 2013. I loved it.
I found this school on the internet and decided to visit based on the strength of the reviews. I felt well informed on what the experience would be like and had realistic...More
I have studied Spanish in Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Spain, but these teachers were the best ever. Having one on one instruction in such a beautiful setting is fantastic. I had two hours of instruction in conversation with Veronia and two hours of grammar...More

Of the 3 different spanish schools I've attended in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, La Mariposa is my favourite. I stayed in the hotel this time (I have done homestays at my previous schools) and really enjoyed the personal space and tranquility (and hot showers).

This is Paulette, the director of La Mariposa. It is important to be clear what we are talking about! Chagas does not exist here nor has there been a case of malaria for 15 years. La Concha, population over 50,000 has had 6 confirmed cases of Zika, they are all now fully recovered. Rabies has not been seen here in many years (I have lived here 12 years and never heard of a case) and there is a government program to vaccinate all dogs free of charge. Dengue is more of an issue, there are occasional cases here so important to protect from mosquitoes. I hope some of the many families who have stayed here and loved it reply to you as well!!
