A beautiful mountain setting in the tropical forest; a place to relax with like minded eco-travelers and / or to study spanish language one on one with a trained Nicaraguan teacher. Comfortable , spotless, basic hotel accommodations with showers and fans, or more rustic cabanas...More
The food was good. Ruth, who helps run it, is terrific. The rest of the managing was done by interns with varying levels of maturity.
The grounds were relaxing and authentic, and the location is beautiful. The value of what you get is a 10...More

This is a somewhat strange review. Firstly, it is completely clear on the website that we offer a package - the safe one obviously is to stay in the hotel and do the classes and activities with us. The other, which if I recall correctly...More
I spent a week at La Mariposa from 6/28-7/4. I travelled alone and had a fabulous time. The place is very tranquil, the surroundings interesting, and the people patient and friendly. I wish I would have had more time there. I had so much fun...More

This is Paulette, the director of La Mariposa. It is important to be clear what we are talking about! Chagas does not exist here nor has there been a case of malaria for 15 years. La Concha, population over 50,000 has had 6 confirmed cases of Zika, they are all now fully recovered. Rabies has not been seen here in many years (I have lived here 12 years and never heard of a case) and there is a government program to vaccinate all dogs free of charge. Dengue is more of an issue, there are occasional cases here so important to protect from mosquitoes. I hope some of the many families who have stayed here and loved it reply to you as well!!
