Great drive for woodland sightseeing. The museum, theater, and store are not big, but are worth the trip to see in that they are free. Great overlook of the river from a porch-like viewing platform, complete with historically informative signs. Movie is interesting and comfortable seats are provided. Ample parking. While you are there, consider looking at the Methodist Lakeshore...

Spring break trip for us. A wonderful place to explore from the rocky beach with all of the shells, volleyball, big open fielded area for kicking a ball or flying a kite or playing frisbee golf, many places to picnic as there are tables and/or pavilions in multiple locations and even a small museum with interesting items to check out....

A bird's eye view of the river battle scenes, a museum filled with interesting items of a bygone era, a theater with period movies, and memorabilia of the Civil War. It is an overall rewarding experience but it takes too only about half an hour or so to see it all. So, it might not be the main draw on...

We tent camped on the edge of the lake at the rustic campsites. The sites were far enough apart that it actually felt like camping and had picnic tables and a fire ring. Having the lake so close was beautiful. The bathrooms were easily accessible and as clean as you expect a campground. We didn't do much hiking because we...

This cabin was very comfortable. We spent 4 nights here. We had a group of 6, but it could have accommodated 8. Nice deck on the back overlooked the lake. AC was a nice touch. Kitchen was excellent. Used the grill provided for cooking meat. Beds were clean and comfortable. Two bathrooms were in excellent condition. Dining table was large...

Forty ladies had our first ever Ladies Church Retreat at the Group Lodge on 9-10 September, 2016. The set up is great - the mattresses are nice & new! Privacy with just four people in a 'pod.' Each 'pod' has electrical outlets - what a nice surprise! Thirty beds share several showers, toilets and sinks. The bathrooms were very clean...

The cabins are the best in the Tn park system....and the people are wonderful. They will help you and tell you all about the history and area including the critters. A peaceful and economic weekend in Tennessee . Don't forget to visit the Tn pearl museum in Camden .

My wife, son, and I stayed at the Rustic Cabin this past weekend. It was a great experience! The cabin was built in the 1930s and opened up for visitors in 2003. It does have window AC/heat unit but we chose to use the wood burning fireplace on the cool nights. The wood is provided for you. There is over...

PROS: The River Folk life Museum was by far the highlight of the park, but don’t miss the Civil War Memorial and artifacts in the visitor’s center, the Native American and natural history specimens in the visitor’s center. If you have time, hike one of the beautiful trails or visit the lake. They have both campgrounds and modern cottages here....

This was the BEST state park I have visited in quite a long time. The staff was very courteous and respectful. The ranger even allowed us to use the kayaks to explore the lake and it was fantastic. If you are in the military or a veteran all of Tennessee State parks gives you a 25% military discount. That was...
