We were recommended to visit here via a local Lake District Facebook page, it was my mum's 70th and we were staying nearby. We booked her for Sunday dinner, and we arrived in good time so we were shown to the lovely bar area for a drink first whilst our table was prepared. When we went to our table the...

From the minute we walked through the door we felt really welcome. Staff were great. Room was lovely with beautiful view. Food was brilliant. Couldn't have asked for more. Will definitely go again but probably when weather is warmer although hotel was not cold far from it. Would definitely recommend a visit to friends. Lovely to see so many different...

I don't usually write two reviews for the same place, but this is such a super, comfortable hotel. The staff are so helpful, attentive, polite and well trained in their roles. The room we had was a superior one, it was very spacious, comfortable and had marvellous views. The food is excellent and breakfast is a real treat watching the...

We stopped here for a pick-me-up as it was the only place for refreshments on the walk from Borrowdale YHA towards Keswick. It turned out to be a great decision. Understated on the outside, the hotel is both beautiful and welcoming. Tea and coffee were served elegantly with delicious homemade biscuits, and were fantastic value at £6 for two. Looking...

This is a well maintained hotel (with evidence of ongoing investment) in a beautiful setting with good, well trained staff and good food. I have not stayed anywhere else in the area but would certainly return here.

We stayed 5 nights at this lovely Hotel. The Staff are so friendly especially Chris, who helped my Husband. This was our 3rd year we have stayed for Christmas. The food was as usual superb. And the Beautiful sounds of the Harp, that was played in the Dining Room etc. Unfortunatly this will be our last Christmas stay. We had...

We had a lovely short break here for the summer solstice. Beautiful view from the room, the restaurant and the bar/outside garden. Seems to cater more for a old crowd. We (thirty something) seemed a lot younger than the rest of the residents. Nonetheless, a good hotel. Lovely restaurant, if rather expensive and formal. We had some fantastic walks straight...

We booked a few nights here to explore the Borrowdale valley as opposed to our usual spot in Langdale or Grasmere. The Borrowdale Gates is a good hotel in a lovely setting. It has great views towards Derwent Water in one direction and to Castle Crag in the other. Check in was quick and easy. The staff were all very...

This hotel has a wonderful setting, peaceful and beautiful. The staff are exceptional and seem to know many of the guests who are frequent returners. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, as were all the public areas we used. I particularly liked the local walks and trips on the lake, which you can access without needing to...
