Had to do a late check in because the hotel down the street messed up our reservation. So glad we came here!! The lady was so nice, rooms were clean and we had to get up super early for a hike. The beds slept well, overall an amazing experience!! Would definitely come back and stay while traveling through here.

What can I say, I just loved it here , stayed for a week to visit a lot of places in SD , Glenda was awesome, she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed . Loved watching the deer roam the town , and go in fenced area to eat . We felt so comfortable here , you can’t ask for anything better . Cudo’s to Glenda she went above and beyond, not only did we enjoy our stay we made friends can’t ask for more .She is a keeper

They’re really aren’t many places like this left in America. We were on a family vacation in Utah and our return flight was cancelled. We elected to drive the 2,000 miles back home. With everything super busy in South Dakota because of the Sturgis Bike Rally there weren’t a whole lot of places left on Expedia. We booked a night at The Cowboy Inn. The owner was leaving to get a cheeseburger when we got there so I checked myself in. As she was pulling out of the lot she rolled down her window and said, “you can just pay me in the morning”. Our room was dated, it clean. I would have given it a 5 star review, but our door lock was a little sketchy and our sink drain didn’t work (it was just shut). The owner gave us juice boxes for the kids when we checked out in the morning. Thanks for the hospitality.

This is an independently owned, low-cost motel. Don't except luxury here. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the hot water pressure was great. Safe area. Laundromat and a car wash less than a block away. There is a large fenced-in area for pets. The owner even gave me some colorful towels for my dog if I need to bathe her. The white towels for humans are thick, not like thin motel towels. If you get up early, you can see deer and turkeys hanging out in the fenced-in area that the owner keeps open during the night, so they can get a drink of water. Great hospitality.

We really enjoyed staying here - it was clean, friendly and we had all we needed for spending a couple nights. And it wasn’t expensive while on a family vacation. To those looking at reviews and seeing negativity: This a motel in a small western South Dakota town - if you are wanting hotel amenities then get a hotel with them. We’ve spend plenty of night in hotels and they’ve been meh. This place was a good place to crash after a long day in Hot Springs. We will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed here multiple times over many years. I always receive high level of customer service from Glenda the Manager. I was welcomed with a smile and bottled water. Motel-style property with available parking immediately outside of the room. Super-clean…property is always being upgraded. Rooms include coffee pot, refrigerator, microwave. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning works well. Shower water pressure and temperature were perfect. Neighbors were quiet. There is a swimming pool within walking distance. A couple of gas stations / convenience stores provide basics, if needed.

Perfect hotel if you're going to ride the Mickelson Trail. The trail head is just around the corner from the hotel. When booking, you should already know you're not going to be staying at the 4 Seasons or even Four Points by Sheraton. So as long as you manage your expectations, you'll be more than pleased with the Cowboy Inn. The service at the front desk was prompt and friendly, the room/bed/towels were clean and the air conditioning work well. I wasn't planning to leave my car at the hotel, but during the check-in process I was encouraged to leave my car on site. And even though it's a small town and there's probably zero crime, the idea of leaving my car at the Cowboy Inn felt better than leaving my car parked next to the city park / trail head.

Rooms are large; front desk was friendly; air conditioning worked well; has a microwave and pretty big refrigerator. However, this is an old and run-down motel. Old dated dark paneling and shag carpeting. This should be your last option behind going on to Custer or Hot Springs or, even camping somewhere. A scary old motel.

Rooms are clean, but are very musty smelling. Loud partiers when we were there. It's okay if desperate, but 20 minutes further and you're in Hot Springs -- better selection. Go to HIlls Hotel, very nice.

The lady at the desk was very friendly. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We weren't looking for a "free" hot breakfast or gorgeous contemporary appointments. We'll definitely stay at the Cowboy Inn if we pass this way again. Thank you!
