Dunes Village Resort boasts a prime beachfront location and a plethora of family-friendly amenities, such as indoor water parks and pools, which guests frequently commend. However, opinions on value are divided, with praise for the service but criticism of the expenses and aggressive sales tactics. While the resort's atmosphere is generally celebrated for being family-oriented, calls for room updates and better maintenance are recurrent.
Service is recognized as friendly, yet experiences can vary. Cleanliness receives mixed reviews, and noise levels have been a concern, with reports of loud sounds impacting the tranquility for some visitors.

Detailed Reviews
Overall, our family really enjoyed our stay at this resort. There are many activities to keep kids engaged and having fun. Most of the staff is very friendly and pleasant. The location is excellent as we much preferred this part of Myrtle Beach over our previous stays closer to the boardwalk. The pool bartender, Mike, is an asset to the resort.
Check in was much more complicated than necessary. We arrived early in the day to preregister. Despite this, our room was not ready until almost 5 (check in is at 4) which made dinner planning for our large group a bit more complicated. Staff said the room was ready but awaiting housekeeping inspection which did not start until around 4 and created a major backup in the lobby with people trying to check in. Though clean, the rooms are dated and could probably use a refresh, but lack of room updates is probably what allows the resort to offer so many amenities at such a value.
Overall, though the checkin was a very rough first impression, this was a very good experience and we will stay again.

Hotel's Favourite
Toni (the shift manager) is nothing short of AWESOME! She was a delight to work with. Being a business owner, it's not easy finding a leader like Toni who sets a great example for others to follow!!
The rest of the staff was also great, very courteous and polite!
Rooms were very clean and service was spot on. We had everything we needed in our room to make our family feel like home while on vacation.
Beach is super clean, pools and water park were as well.
Tons of stuff for the kids to do. They had a blast doing all the Easter programs.
We will be coming back next year for sure!
Toni save my room!!

Spent a long weekend at Dunes Village. Overall a good experience, thankfully we picked the place since we have kids, would have been extremely miserable if going as just a couple. If you don't have kids, avoid, not worth it, very family oriented.
One note of warning, avoid anything on the 1st and possibly 2nd floors, unless you want everyone outside looking right into your rooms. Especially if you're paying extra $$$$ for better rooms or views. I don't care of the glass is reflective, you will be on display, with a crappy view of beach. If you have rooms on the side, not directly facing beach, you will have people in parking lots or other places enjoying a peep show into your room.
The water parks are a great distraction for older kids who can be on their own. The regular pools/hot tubs get packed quickly. The staff are very friendly, willing to bet underpaid yet still smile and answer questions while being extremely helpful, while management and owners are wayyyy overpaid. The rooms could use a huge face lift. Dated furniture, zero kitchen amenities, barely have forks/spoons/plates do not expect anything extra. Dated faucets/bathroom fixtures that if you're lucky turn all the way off, expect drip, drip, drip.
Prime location, close to beach, easy in and out, parking is a minor pain, but not the end of the world since it's free.
Will not be back but will recommend for families with kids.

This place was soooooo nasty and dirty. I wouldn’t stay here if it was free. It was to the point that I went and bought towels and wash cloths bc every single one in our room had something on it. The water park was the saving grace but it only has two slides. At the other water park the slides were for smaller kids. The outside lazy river was a joke. There were kids running around and swimming in the river with no floats at one point I felt something underneath me it was a kid swimming under my float. I just got out bc it wasn’t enjoyable. The staff was amazing though. We had issues at check in where my moms reservation couldn’t be found bc a front desk person had accidentally checked her in before we even got there afterwards Whenever we came to the front desk requesting anything she already knew our names and room numbers. The breakfast was pretty good and reasonably priced. All of the staff there was super friendly and helpful. Also the walk to the beach was crazy you had to walk through the water park and past the pools to get to beach access. It should’ve been a little easier to get there for it to be an oceanfront. My dad had mobility issues and it was a pain for him to get out to the beach. If they could clean better and maybe have someone at the lazy river to ensure it’s being used for its purpose it could be more enjoyable. But as it stands I wouldn’t recommend Anyone staying here.

Reservations went above and beyond, as we were initially supposed to be here during the weekend of the hurricane and were able to easily rebook for the following weekend. The outside of the resort was good. The parking is across the street and in a gated parking garage. View from the oceanfront room is beautiful and beach is a close and easy walk from property over a foot bridge. Pool and water park area was clean and had lots of stuff for kids to enjoy. Staff was friendly. However, the positives stop there. The room has a lot to be desired. Although fairly clean upon arrival, except for dirty pillows, there are a lot of maintenance issues. Pedestal sink in bathroom is loose and about to come out of wall, large gaps in floor coverings in hallway and elevator. Tub surround is cracked in multiple areas with mold growing, coverings on all the chairs are very worn with leatherette covering peeling off in most area. The Air conditioning shut off frequently and didn't seem to be able to keep up and began leaking water on the floor. Frequently did not have hot water or good pressure in shower. Never received midweek housekeeping or even daily towels or trash removal as advertised, having to track down housekeeping to get them, because we never got them when calling and requesting from front desk. Phone in room doesn't work so I don't know why they don't just take them out. Wi-Fi is intermittent, therefore TV keeps cutting out. They have a heater light/vent in the bathroom, however, it did not work.
Overall, had a great time in Myrtle Beach. However, the resort needs to improve on maintenance and housekeeping.

As much as I wish I could give a glowing review of Dunes Village Resort, my recent stay left much to be desired. While the location boasts scenic views and potential for a relaxing getaway, the reality fell short of expectations.
Firstly, accessibility was a major issue. The distance from our accommodations to the parking lot felt like a marathon, not a vacation stroll. This inconvenience made it challenging to transport luggage and enjoy spontaneous outings without extensive planning.
Furthermore, the lack of functional amenities was disappointing. A stove that doesn't work is more than an inconvenience; it's a hindrance to any plans of cooking meals or enjoying home-cooked comfort during a stay. Such oversights in maintenance reflect poorly on the resort's attention to guest comfort and satisfaction.
To compound matters, the rushed and indifferent attitude of the staff left a sour taste. Instead of feeling welcomed and valued, we were hurried through check-out, amplifying the feeling of being unwelcome guests rather than valued patrons.
Adding insult to injury, the high cost of our stay felt unjustified given the subpar experience. Paying a premium for accommodations should guarantee a certain level of quality and service, neither of which were adequately met during our visit.
In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Dunes Village Resort for your vacation destination. The combination of logistical challenges, malfunctioning amenities, indifferent staff, and unjustified expenses detract significantly from the potential for an enjoyable stay. Save yourself from disappointment and explore other options for a memorable getaway.

We stayed here last week for a family birthday trip. The room was run down and disgusting. There were roaches, one toilet didn't have a lid, the dryer handle was missing, and it looked like there was mold on the ceilings and in the bathrooms. Housekeeping didn't come despite being told they come mid-week for a light cleaning and bedding change. There were clumps of hair in the pools. It was incredibly loud at night, despite being on the 12th floor; you could still hear pool noise since it's open until 11. This hotel came highly recommended but we will not be staying there again, despite their offer for a free room upgrade.

We are returning visitors. The hotel is one of our favorites as far as convenience and what it offers. The restaurants are good, the beach is close. If you want beach chairs, you have to rent them from the onsite beach service and it is $50 day. It would be nice if the hotel had some beach chairs for guest to check out and return or provide a coupon for beach chair services on the beach.
The Concierge hospitality desk asks for your drivers license before they talk to you, then to get any discounts on attractions you have to attend a sales pitch to buy one of the $295-400k condos. I recommend that you pass on by this desk.
I was disappointed in the daily kids activities, it does not seem to ever change and THey really need to change their daily activities. Most of the daily activities are not very thrilling ie tattoos. The things we would like to have done was early saturday morning when most people are checking in or out.
We rented a condo directly from Dunes Village, and they need to put a broom and dustpan in every room. The rooms are SPARSELY furnished but comfortable. Bring your own paper towels for the kitchen.
There is plenty of chairs and towels at the pools for everyone. Ice Cream Trucks is in the parking lots all day which is handy if you have kids. you can order pool side food. The cabana bar at the pool area has the strongest drinks I have ever had. some would appreciate that but NOT ME. We only bought drinks one time as they were too strong and over priced.

It was my family's first time in SC as well as our first stay at The Dunes Village Resort. We agreed to stay here after the recommendation from the family we went with who stayed with the Dunes Village Resort on another occasion and the location exceeded our expectations. The beach was just a short walk away which was perfect with a one year old daughter who fell asleep on two separate occasions in the ocean, in my arms of course. The resort having it's own parking garage is a plus in regards to the safety and security of your car and being a short distance away which makes short day trip preparations simple.
During our stay, the towel and trash rotation was unclear. We had to call the front desk ourselves as what the procedure was when we needed new towels or where to discard our trash. They had posted small hotel activities on a given day within the elevator, but on a given day, it's difficult to read the entire list on a short elevator ride. You're better off providing the list to guests upon check-in along with the WiFi card that is already provided.
All in all, I would definitely return to Dunes Village Resort when we decide to visit SC again or even when we pass through.

We have been visiting this resort for years and very disappointed in this trip. We stayed through hurricane Ian and lost power, no fault of the resort of course. We didn’t have power for 24 hours ( thankful for quick work from the linemen) we also didn’t have water for a period of time. The resort still charged us resort fees when the pools were closed for 2 days and offered no discount for no power or water. I was most disappointed that the resort did not communicate with its guests in any form regarding hurricane prep or anything. I felt like at the very least they could have checked on each room or offer bottled water until power could be restored. When I asked about water or even a place to shower they said they had no resources and were not offering any room discounts. I understand we chose to stay and we were prepared but others may not have been. It appears this resort doesn’t care much about its guest, and we’re allowing people to check in without telling them there was no water in some rooms. We probably won’t be returning. Also, the pools were not kept clean in the days before the hurricane, another guest took the pool net and was cleaning the pools so her family could get in the water without trash and debris. They have really went downhill and I hate it because we loved this resort so much!

Dear valued guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I truly apologize for all issues encountered during your recent visit and assure you that this was not a typical reflection of our resort or its operation. All facilities on the resort were kept open as long as possible despite the impending storm. However, closures were forced due to a power outage caused by damaged power lines in our area. Providing the best experience possible is our top priority, even in the midst of a natural disaster, and I sincerely apologize for the negative impacts inflicted on your vacation. We truly value your business and regret missing our opportunity to exceed your expectations. Our guests are extremely important to us and we hope for the chance to correct this experience for you in the future. Kindest regards, Alima Mootoo Front Office Manager

I actually don't remember seeing Mini Putt. However, that doesn't mean it's not there. Sorry. Wish I could be more helpful
I'm not sure if the Palms Tower has a laundry facility or not. My family stayed in the Palmetto Tower in an Angle Oceanfront 2 bedroom and the washer and dryer was in the room. The only parking garage is the one across the street.
