The family and I had a great time at crown reef. Water park is great for the kiddos and the pools and hot tubs everywhere is also a nice feature. Price i got and the amenities i would definitely go back. Needs minimal updating and little better house keeping and I would of gave a 5 out of 5

Definitely not what we expected. Hotel room was very cramped and we had a suite. Extremely outdated. We found a roach to the first night on the balcony and the manager sent a pest control up. Don’t think that your whirl pool is going to be exotic. We couldn’t even use it. The drain was ridiculous and within 10 seconds started back up. We asked for them to fix that and they couldn’t. There was literally glass behind the bed where my son was sleeping. I asked him to come and sweep the whole entire room but they just came and picked up the one piece of glass. A family that we were staying with had an even worse experience. The only thing I can say, is that the water slides and beach access were great.

We have stayed at the Crown Reef multiple times, usually enjoying our stays. They offer beautiful views of the ocean. It has convenient access to the beach. Also, close access to banana boat rides; jet skis, parasailing, beach chairs and umbrellas (all for additional fees). During the summer months the hotel has DJ’s; mini Luau’s, a steel drum show, a lady doing hair braids/wraps and theTiki bar is open. However, with all that comes a HUGE price increase as well. This year we stayed in tower 2 on the 2nd floor. Never again! Housekeeping gathered every morning close to our room and were super loud. No sleeping in on vacation! Housekeeping dose NOT come in to clean! You are on your own there and have to call for clean towels if you want any, etc. Our room didn’t have half of the utensils or plate ware that it should have. I had to call and have some brought up. We also had to have maintenance called in right as we were heading down to enjoy a night swim. The air conditioner had leaked water all over the balcony and as a result multiple nasty “palmetto bugs” were crawling around. Even on the side of the building! I realize those bugs are part of being around water but they are still disgusting! I was afraid to open the balcony door the rest of our stay during the evenings. Even though the air conditioning issue was a quick fix it ruined our night swim as the pool closed by the time they were done. All in all, our family enjoyed our time together and we met some really nice people during our stay. We will probably seek other accommodations for a future stay in Myrtle Beach!

We had stayed at Crown Royal years ago before the remodel. They have taken all the carpet out of the rooms, which leaves you walking on sand in your room all the time. They have plenty of pools and the things for kids/adults to do. The cafe is ok, they need to make changes to how it is run. Thought the price was a little high, and having to pay for parking was a bit ridiculous. I already paid for the room why do I have to pay for parking??? It is away from all the hustle and bustle which is nice. Damon's restaurant is next door but wait time was an hour but this was dinner time. I would stay again.

We were not sure what location to stay, particularly traveling with the entire family which included three children, aged 2,4 and 8 and my parents. We could not have ask for a better location. The amenities were superb for the kiddos, and my parents. The food was amazing and check in was of ease! As we drove up and down the strip, there are other accommodations, but none that would have accommodated our needs as OceanReef did with the water park, lazy river and water ride access (banana boat rides, etc! And very close to the boardwalk! We will certainly return to this resort!

First things first, DO NOT STAY HERE! This place was absolutely disgusting. First impression, when you check-in (across the street) you think you may have a fine experience, that building is decent. However, when you drive across the street you need to be extremely careful as the parking lot seems to be built for only small sedans. All of the parking spots were extremely tight. The parking garage smelled of urine and we were told it was due to the renovations and the port-o-potties on the bottom floor. When we got to our room, the keys would not work. The mechanism would flash Green as if it opened but we couldn't open the door. Until we realized you needed the strength of a bear to push the handle down. We stood outside for 20 minutes before we were able to get in. As soon as you open the door, you get a foul smell, not one of just old hotel room, but of dirt and foulness. As we inspected the room we noticed stains, rust, dirt and all other fun stuff they do not show you in their pictures on the website. The only pleasant site was the view of the beach and ocean. A few nights in we found the service to be horrible. The arcade attendant had no personality. She was very rude to my kids when they went for their prizes; "what do you want?" was a response she said to my youngest. One of the bartenders down at the pool bar decided to use her hand/sleeve to wipe her nose and mouth instead of a tissue. On one of the days, I had to run back up to our room. Instead of waiting for the great elevators, I took the stairs, well at least tried; the door was locked/jammed. I ended up having to take the elevator up and on the way down I was able to access the stairway. Coming down, on the third floor I witnessed a used woman's feminine product. When I had the 1st floor, (the same door I tried to access earlier) it was still jammed. I had to run back to the floor above to the elevator to come down. God forbid there were ever a fire, people would have been stuck. When I contacted the hotel they said maintenance would fix it; they sure did, the just took the locking mechanism out of the door. We had "welcoming guests" that showed up a few nights in; giant cockroaches. My wife woke to at least two of them at 2am when she got up to use the restroom. Needless to say, we then decided to pack up at that time and find a new place. I can deal with cosmetic issues, but when I start to see bugs, I'm out. We were only refunded for two nights of our 6 night stay. The manager told us, "you are not our targeted audience." I'm afraid to see who their target audience is. DO NOT STAY HERE, unless you like all of these awesome things The Crown Reef has to offer. I have attached pictures for your viewing pleasure.

The website makes it seem like you are getting a “resort”. It’s OK. Seems clean enough but not even close to what the pictures show. Rooms are Tiny, very dated and staff is basically non-existent. Biggest plus was they put us and our friends in rooms next to each other. Completed a “check in” survey. Was never contacted about our problems. We will make the best of it. But wouldn’t return or recommend to a friend.
