Nestled on a beachfront location that many guests find enchanting, the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes is frequently commended for its inviting atmosphere and attentive service, with staff members often going the extra mile. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests suggest that the decor could use an update.
The hotel's amenities, including pristine pools, a spa, and dining options, receive positive remarks, although their costs have led to some concerns about value. Despite this, the resort's overall cleanliness and strategic balance of seclusion with accessibility keep guests returning.

The hotel resort is set in beautiful gardens and are well cared for, parking is limited undercover, especially if you have luggage, you’ll have to park in the sun, but it’s bearable. The hotel is outdated and would need to be updated especially for the rate you pay. Our room was 2 queen bed with balcony and sea view, the view was awesome and although we questioned if it was worth to pay for the balcony and view I would say definitely, the other rooms would be ok but the resort view, you could be looking over the car park, the beds were comfortable and although very clean, it’s a very small room, especially for one family, the bathroom is very small and our fan wasn’t working, so would get very hot in there, there was some staining on the carpet and rather decor was dated, but still for what you need a room for it was ok. Whilst we were there it was stepped up time for COVID, so no housekeeping but that was ok, anything you needed they would respond in five minutes for daily clean towels and even came in the room if no one was in there and cleaned the bathroom and made the beds etc, we asked for the beds to be changed and again they happily obliged. All the staff had masks and gloves on and all public areas, we had a letter yesterday that stated that it had been passed that all people had to wear masks in public areas, that was fine with us as we had bed now wearing them, the elevators are one person or one family only in the elevator at one time, as you can imagine there are still people cheeky enough that will try and get in your elevator and sometimes with no mask, we just said firmly no, as I’m immunochallenged and they weren’t happy about it but tough, hopefully from today everyone will be masked. The pool area could do with some update, there was bits coming off the bottom of the pool and there always seemed to be a lot of sand and debris, the pool staff seem to come in the am and set up chairs etc but aren’t seen all day to follow, there would be areas of the pool that would get scummy. The wait staff though were awesome, in the heat, with masks on all day, they were awesome and the food was good, the drinks are good and strong but are hotel prices, the beach is set up nicely but as at the pool there are the cabana chairs and on the beach that have to be paid for but there’s enough seating to sit and plenty of umbrellas. There was always plenty of towels.

Stayed here for a couple of days while on our way to Charleston. Booked an oceanfront room with a balcony. Our room was just that but also a corner room so we had a beautiful view. This property does an excellent job with their response to COVID-19. Plexiglass at the front desk, hand sanitizer & signage all around the hotel and disinfecting wipes provided in the room. We chose the complimentary parking vs valet and there was plenty of parking available. Had breakfast outside at Oceans in 82nd. Richie was an excellent server with an awesome personality!

My husband and I decided to drive for a 5 night getaway to SC from PA. PA has been closed since March and we arrived in SC on June 7th. It was nice to feel normal again. All hotel employees had mask which felt great and very safe. Hotel guest were not required to wear mask. There was hand sanitizer stations near the elevators, front lobby, by the pool, outside of restaurants, etc. They had signs on the elevators for 1 family per elevator to stop the spread of COVID. We only had a problem one night when a drunk lady hopped on our elevator late at night. I did mention it to the front desk, they said I have the option of taking the stairs. That wasn’t my point, I thought maybe they could remind people coming out of the nearby restaurant of new policy. It wasn’t a huge deal but it was the only time it happened in 6 days/5nights. Most people were very respectful of this new policy. The staff was very kind from check in, housekeeping, pool staff, bar, etc. Every employee wanted to make sure guest were happy. Plenty of chairs at the pool area. We enjoyed the beach everyday. It’s private in this area to Marriott guest. It was not crowded and the lifeguard is there from 8-5. They do have chairs and umbrellas for rent. We had brought our own chairs because we preferred having our own equipment with the virus. We were ocean front on the 9th floor. So we did see the chairs go up everyday and taken down. They did not wipe them down from day to day, so you are using someone else’s chair from the previous day. We also didn’t like how close they set up the chairs, I will show in a picture. Each location is 2 chairs and 1 umbrella, about 2 feet apart. SC felt normal and that is what we were looking for on a mini vacation. We took nice walks everyday in the nearby neighborhood, walked to some great restaurants in the area, Starbucks every morning. It was the perfect getaway. Thank you Marriott!

This past week my husband and I traveled from NY to explore both South Carolina and North Carolina. We choose Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort and Spa at Grand Dunes from the website and with confidence in put past experiences with the Marriott chain. We Planned on staying at least two nights, and if we liked we would have extended our stay.
With in an hour we weren't sure we would stay one night, but decided to give it a chance, As someone in the medical field I was especially sensitive to the cleanliness of everywhere we went.
The property overall had a unclean appearance. I asked another guest and she used the word sticky: "Everything appeared sticky" High tough surfaces like walls, doors and elevators appeared to not have been wiped in a long time. In one elevator there was a paper wipe shoved in under the elevator buttons that was there from our first elevator ride to our last the next morning. I would not be surprised if it was still there.
Understanding the lobby is a high traffic are, it should be taken care of on a strict schedule. The rugs as you enter the property were in desperate need of a vacuuming. All of the hallways on the way to our room needed attention.
The room itself; the door at entry was loaded with finger / hand prints. After cleaning that off with wipes I traveled with the next thing I cleaned up was green tooth paste off the bathroom floor. The furniture in the room was also tattered, scraped and obviously ignored in maintenance.
A good majority of the chairs around the pool were worn, tattered and some ripped. They were also extremely uncomfortable as they were so stretched out you sat on a support bar across the bottom.
The pool itself was filthy. We understand sand at the bottom and leaves floating on top but there was actually mucky foam in the corners of the pool with debris entangled in it. There was also a dead lizard at the bottom. The foam, debris and lizard were still in the same place the next morning.
There was a lovely female server at the pool who was friendly and served well.
We went to the bar for dinner. The server there was very nice but seemed to have to attended to all the table simultaneously so we waited at least 5 min to get our first order of drinks in then waited at least 10 min to receive. A salad and tacos took 40 minutes to come out to the table. We had to hunt the waitress for seconds on drinks and the bill at the end as she was still servicing the entire area.
The handicap door press at the exit by the parking garage was not functioning either.
The cost of the room plus a resort fee was $380, that is not a small amount for one night. We never mind spending money if we have a good experience and we expected the best from Marriott and did not receive it.

We were celebrating our 25th anniversary, so we decided to go with the Oceanfront room, SO glad we did. What a beautiful view. First of all, this hotel is very close to the surf so I left the door open on the patio every night so I could hear the surf and slept like a baby. It.Was.Awesome. The rooms are very plain, typical Marriott, but very nice and come with a coffee maker and small fridge.
They gave us a room with two "queen" beds, but they were actually double beds. If you are a big dude, you will know exactly what I mean as these are definitely not queen size beds. I was laying on my back facing the ceiling and I could grab both sides of the mattress with my arms outstretched. If you have the chance, definitely go with the King. That's one mark against. Staff here is amazing, super helpful all the way around but they definitely have their hands full. With things opening up now, this place is bonkers, tons of kids everywhere, lots of people milling about, and just a lot of action. Again, typical Marriott resort. What they need to do is lower the music at the pool. At 10:00 in the morning on the 10th floor, I can hear Hootie and the Blowfish clear as day blasting through my room. As a musician, that is ridiculous. That's on management and they need to lower it as people don't want to hear that loud music, especially in the morning. My wife actually could hear the music in the bathroom. In today's age of iPods and streaming music on phones, I would actually prefer NO music and be able to listen to my iPod or, preferably, hear that crashing ocean surf. Give people a choice as most people bring their own music.
The grounds here are beautiful and the beach is one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to in my life, anywhere in the world. I had never been to SC, so this was a very pleasant surprise. All in all, this is a nice hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again, but that music situation needs to get taken care of stat. The restaurants here are decent, typical bar/grill food, but there are definitely several places to eat nearby that are very good, Hook & Barrel would be my first recommendation as you can just walk over there from the hotel.
Since we're in the COVID crisis, the hotel does a very good job of having sanitizer stations at the entrances to the hotel and at the elevators. The staff are all masked up, unfortunately not all of the guests are, which of course can be expected since there are lots of people out there that think they look better without a mask on. They would be wrong. Mask up, guys, and the sooner this will all be over.

We could not have been happier with this hotel/resort. It’s literally steps from the beach and is quiet and beautiful, and the beach is clean, the sand is soft, and the area is wonderful! There are multiple pools and plenty of lounge chairs around the pools. Our room was beautiful and well appointed. The towels are large and fluffy (not necessarily soft)... we spent several nights in Carolina Beach before we came here to Myrtle Beach, and this is by far a nicer location with much more to do. We got a platinum upgrade, so not sure why anyone says they don’t give them. Maybe next door at the time share section they don’t give upgrades, but we got one. Due to COVID, we weren’t offered complimentary breakfast, housekeeping doesn’t come to the room daily, and you do need to wear masks, but none of those things would prevent us from returning again in the future. Wish we could stay here forever!

The resort is beautiful. The landscaping, the pools, hot tub, children's pool are wonderful. It would have been better if they had balconies for the partial ocean view rooms. The 3 restaurants get very old fast because there 's 1 kitchen and they all have the same menu. So we planned on either a taxi or Uber to upscale restaurants for dinner. Not so easy...It may not be the hotels' fault but there should be a taxi stand out near the lobby filled with cabs. Each night it took us 30-40 minutes to get a ride.
We flew in from Newark, but most guests drive to this destination from their homes Getting a ride to restaurants was very difficult.
I believe it would be in Marriott's best interests to have entertainment. A daily plaque near the pool of Aerobics, bingo, salsa dancing, comedy night times. Just sitting around the pool without music is boring. No swim up bar to meet people.
Rooms are comfortable (could be cleaner-like dust the a/c vents)) All hotels now have the Covid excuse as to why they cut back on housekeeping. It's not working. People need clean towels, garbage taken out, refills on shampoo. If you don't want to include housekeeping- cut your rates.

From beginning to end the staff at this hotel were 100% perfect in every way. Having traveled extensively, odds are usually an experience, a dinner, something or someone disappoints, not here! The staff made our stay completely perfect. During a stressful time of downsizing staff and the unpredictability of everything that comes along with Covid, this team of professionals who hadn’t had a day off in days and days, made our stay there absolutely wonderful. Katelyn at the front desk bent over backwards to ensure our happiness and she did it with a smile and made us feel at home in every way possible. The bartender at the pool bar ran around and jumped through hoops for everyone he came into contact with. You would never know they were completely understaffed. He was an absolute pleasure and so accommodating. The bartender Toni in the inside restaurant was so sweet and went above and beyond. The food and beverage manager should get nothing less than a raise and accolades from the top management for pulling off what he was so happy to do. At breakfast, he was working like a dog, lunch, jumping in wherever needed, at dinner or happy hour, running food for the waiters and racing around to ensure everyone was happy. The guy never stopped and never made us feel he was too busy for whatever it was that we needed at that moment. The bellhop even chased us out the door when we checked out with ice cold bottled waters for our long drive. The hospitality was ENDLESS. Thank you Marriot Staff for giving us a beautiful week!!!

We were looking for a week getaway to celebrate my husband's retirement. We are Marriott loyal and chose Marriott Grand Dunes after reading many reviews...and they did not disappoint. We were upgraded to the top floor Oceanfront corner room due to our Titanium Elite status. Two beautiful balconies provided Oceanfront morning sunrises and the other balcony a view down the beach and the resort pools.
The weather was perfect except for one cloudy day. The resort and everywhere we went were minimal people, which I am assuming was the beginning of off season. We had not been to MB in over 20 years so it was fun to explore the boardwalk, Barefoot Landings, many restaurants and bars. Uber and Lyft were easily available for taking us to our daily explorations. We were having so much fun we extended another night. The front desk agent told me our room was currently booked but would text me direct if it became available. That evening we check with the front desk and that agent was able to extend our additional nite request!! The Marriott was experiencing short staff as everywhere across the states is but there are 3 employees that stood out and made our stay special. 1st is Mo, in Oceans restaurant where we enjoyed a late breakfast daily. Mo always greeted you with a smile, selected the best available table with a view and remembered you order. We will miss him. 2nd was Kimberlee. She was our server the 1st evening we arrived and we would continue to see her throughout our stay at the bar, poolside or The Cove restaurant. We enjoyed getting to know her. The 3rd person is Lecian from housekeeping. She filled my requests daily, always had a big smile and could be heard singing as she cleaned rooms. Unfortunately on her 2 days off, housekeeping never showed up even after requesting. I was so happy when she returned.
A big thank you to the Marriott Grande Dunes for making my husband's retirement getaway one to remember.

While the hotel was beautiful, there were a few things that were annoying, given that I am a Bonvoy member and the high price of this property. We stayed in a King ocean front room on the 14th floor. First of all, i had to double check and call the hotel ahead of time as it wasn't clear i was getting a higher floor. This was straightened out after a couple of phone calls.
The rate did not include breakfast, however, if I had "downgraded" to a partial ocean view, breakfast would have been included.
robes were supposed to be in my room. They were not. i didn't bother to follow up, as it gets annoying that you have to ask for so many things, such as getting fresh towels, as cleaning is only done on request. The coffee makers in the room come with very little supplies, so you have to ask daily. the coffee is not very good either, and when you don't have breakfast included, you need to make your own coffee.
the water temperature in the shower was impossible to keep consistent. it would go very hot, and then very cold. this happened every day.
we had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant, and Ishmeet was an amazing server. so friendly and courteous. i followed up with a personal email to his manager, but never got a response. Not even a "thank you".
also, i noted that the corner rooms beside us which are also ocean front, same rate, were not occupied during my stay. it would have been nice to have been offered one of those rooms upon check in, as they have views on two sides.
so it all sounds very negative, but the room was clean, and large. htoel in a good location.
The rate did not include breakfast, however, if I had "downgraded" to a partial ocean view, breakfast would have been included.

Yes, however, you can only reserve a cabana, which is two pool chairs with a cover, after you have checked in the resort.
There are different locations that you have rent Golf Cart in the Myrtle Beach area. A-JAX Golf Cart Rentals is one that will deliver to your location. Their phone number is 843-897-5846.
The Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort and Spa is oceanfront. You can request a room with ocean view. The pool area leads directly out to the beach. It is quite beautiful!
The Marriott Vacation Club at Grand Dunes is right next door and I believe they are more like condos with kitchens etc. We don’t have children but that pool area was filled with kids having a blast. It also leads directly out to the beach.
You will have to drive to activities although everything is within a 10 minute drive.
I hope this helps!
