Fall get away… Our first trip away since Covid. We always look for an Embassy whenever possible when we go away, so it was easy to know where to stay in Myrtle Beach. We booked a 5 night stay, non refundable (never even hesitated as we are loyal Hilton members, Diamond level year after year) in a 2 room Deluxe Suite - King Bed Oceanfront. We got notified our room was ready during our trip down (traveling from PA); great! We can skip any line and go right up to our room, thanks to their electronic key. And that’s just what we did. We pulled up to their valet lane, off loaded, handed the keys off to a very friendly gentleman (wish I got his name) and inside we went. So here goes my review… Got off the elevator on the 12th floor and approached our room (1216). We were a bit surprised not to see the “seal” across the door, that we’ve come to expect with all the Covid protocols, signifying the thorough cleaning of the room. Must be this practice is no longer? First thing I do when I go in a room is check my linens. Bed checked out ok, but then the body towels were another story. Two of the four were stained. One just had a few stains, but the other was beyond belief that it got folded and put into circulation. It looked like it was used to remove makeup and never washed (see photo). I gathered up both towels and took them down to the front desk. When I showed them to the gentleman at the front desk, his shocked response was “where did those come from?” (really dude? I brought them from home and need you to wash them!) “My room I JUST checked into!” In an unbelievable manner, he turned and went into the back room, returning with a box, and 2 towels. The box he extended towards me to place the 2 stained towels in (I guess he was so repulsed by them that he couldn’t touch them) and then handed me the other two towels (not in a bag or anything- just handed them over). So this is how our stay started. Back up to the room. Our room was a King Oceanfront suite. Huge balcony with 2 chairs (one well loved, one newer). The balcony needs some attention. Paint is peeling everywhere. Just really makes it look unkept, which, it is! And I question why only 2 chairs. This room is marketed to sleep 4 due to the sleeper sofa. I guess you just take turns in that case. The room to just glance at it looks pretty nice. Too bad it wasn’t so. Where do I start… The living room: the sofa is just a joke. If you sit on it for more than 5 minutes, you’d find yourself preferring the chairs around the table! And the two living room chairs? Well, they aren’t much better, but we made them work. We pulled them up in front of the couch so that we were a little closer to the TV (not to be petty, but the TVs really need upgraded. Not sure of the size, but in today’s world, they are small!). We ended up using the cushions from the back of the sofa to use as supplementary seat cushions for the chairs. The bed… oh my! I’ve never had an issue with a Hilton bed, but this “bed”, it was ridiculous! You could feel the springs, like a cheap mattress. Every night was nothing but tossing and turning to try to get comfortable, only to get up in the morning aching! Every corner of this room was dusty and dirty. Yes, I mean the corners. A deep cleaning is so needed! You can see the years of neglect in this category. Quick turnovers to get the next guests in these rooms has resulted in dusty/dirty mop boards, corners, mold/mildew build up on the shower grout, calcium buildup behind the sink faucets, dust/dirt in dresser drawers and on closet shelves (and they are wire shelves, so that really takes some neglect to have filthy wire shelves!). And not to give too much TMI, but while sitting in the water closet, I could see three different hairs on the floor, along with build up on the mop boards. And the peeling wallpaper just adds to the unkept condition of the room. We paid over $300 a night for this “deluxe accommodation”. I expect more from a Hilton. One of our favorite Embassy Suites is on Oahu, where they deal with many more rooms and people, and they would never pass off a room like this! Sorry, long rant, and I’m not done yet. Resort fee… well, we knew the pool was going to be under construction, and the pool deck. We did not know that EVERYTHING outside would be gone. No hot tub. No outside bar, no anything! This place had no resort feel to it at all! And if there was anything else being offered in its place, nothing was being shared with guests. We thought we were coming to a resort. A RESORT! We are charged a resort FEE after all! And don’t say Wi-Fi and such, as we get that being diamond members. So, I do NOT know what we were paying for! Again, NO information is provided to you at check in. NOTHING! We had to call down to find out when the manager's reception was. And for breakfast times, we just guessed that they'd be open when we went down. I guess this property just expects you to know everything about it, and go on accordingly. Way to market! Let’s talk breakfast. Their breakfast was no better than a Hampton Inn - which isn’t bad, if I was staying at one! Where was the egg/omelets station? The “eggs” on the buffet line were terrible! I think they were those powder ones. Their idea of variety was one morning they’d have sausage patties and French toast, and then the next morning would be bacon and mini (blonde) pancakes - rinse and repeat. But one POSITIVE I can say about breakfast was their coffee, that was good. You certainly weren’t going to get one in your room! Needless to say, we went out for breakfast a few mornings, just so we could get a “real” one. Evening reception was a positive. We took advantage of that a couple of the nights we were there. Every bartender we had was very cordial and professional. Even on our last night there, when there were so many people down there (I’m thinking some sort of conference was being held there), the bartenders remained professional and in control (politely keeping patrons in lines, versus just cutting in). We ate at the restaurant twice. Their pizza is very good - we had the white pizza. And then another night we had the salmon and Mac-n-cheese; both dishes were good. Service was good also. I’ll close with this. You’re aware that there is no maid service unless requested. Ok, I “guess” I get it, although I thought with longer stays you at least got one maid service. But, what I don’t get is, you know I’m staying for 5 nights. WHY then do you not have the appropriate towels, soaps, shampoos, coffee and garbage bags already in my room? Why do I have to keep calling for such things? And when I do, you only give me another days worth? This is absurd! Another thought, why can’t you do something better in your “deluxe rooms” than the coffee maker that is in there? Anyone who drinks coffee will tell you that THAT is not a cup of coffee!! When we stay in HI we get a Keurig in our room! And another thing, why is it that the roadside rest that we just stopped at has softer toilet tissue than that in your “deluxe room”? Their “Angel Soft” commercial brand for toilet and facial tissue is anything BUT soft! Come on now!!! We LOVE Embassy Suites. We have probably stayed at a dozen different ones over the years, and several other Hilton properties. THIS Embassy Suites should be ashamed to be called one!! Come on Hilton - cut the cord from this establishment!

WOW! Another wonderful visit with our "family" at the Embassy Suites. Been going for years and due to our conference cancelling in response to Covid, didn't make it last year but so thrilled to be back again for a very enjoyable return visit!! From phone interactions with sweet Kristi and helpful Front Office Manager Drew, to check-in with lovely Jasmine, to our amazing housekeeper Annette, we had a super family work/vacation time! We loved our view on our balcony, very comfy bed, breakfast, evening reception (best Bartenders ever!) and of course our beloved Splash Pad. My kiddos have grown up going here and we all love the lazy river. The beautiful beach is the main attraction, and early sunrise runs, and evening sunset walks were the best! Thank you Embassy for maintaining an extremely well-trained and thoughtful caring staff. I know this past year has been difficult on everyone, but your smiles and customer service shined through!! Can't wait to come back!

The plantation has a full fitness center down the street where the hotel van can take you. The gym with full weights an indoor pool, The place is spotlessly clean the covid protocols are in place. I met the manager Daniel very nice and very professional, and his staff is excellent, the smile and greet you when you walk in, and wish you a good day when leaving, I have been there several times and it is always top notch. The one negative is the last two times there the towels were like hand towels that you wash your car with, but overall excellent

Came with a group for a golf outing. Everyone had a great experience. Our suite was very nice and clean. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They have a good number of amenities; inside and outside pools, great bar and restaurant, gift shops, coffee shop, free breakfast, although the cook-to-order omelet line was closed due to COVID-19. Will definitely come back.

The hotel staff was extremely kind, hospitable and accommodating. The construction noise wasn’t terribly loud. Even though the pool is under construction, there was a shuttle to a neighboring pool. The shuttle buses were timely and made sure we knew where to go. Would absolutely stay here again.
