I used to stay here regularly - in the 1980's - and it was quaint and quiet. It is still quaint and quiet (Feb 6, 2015), but is more out-of-date and worn, like a comfortable old shoe. I was alone and did not have to please anyone but myself. The room was clean, but showed its age. Some aspects (e.g....

Stayed for 4 days, nice play except for the couple running the office, cussing and driving radically through the parking lot WHILE CHILDREN WERE PLAYING IN THE AREA. To the point I had to called the children in our room. Cussing, hollering & fighting in front of ALL OF GUEST.... WILL NOT I REPEAT , will not vacation here until...

Responding to the other reviews, when we stayed here in the summer we met and talked quite a bit to the new caretakers. They know the place has was let to slide downhill and have started on a long term renovation, so hopefully the Brookwood will be looking nicer when you next stay there. You can also get a good...

We have stayed at the Brookwood over the years and it has steadily gone downhill. It seems that a seedy crowd has discovered the place. The room was unclean and had been variously patched over the years. The new managers seem seedy and the rates have gone up significantly. We were quoted $50 a night but actually charged $75! Then...

The Brookwood Inn "was" very nice when we first when to stay, that was 5 years ago. Over the years we have stay in 8 different rooms or areas of the motel, but it keeps going down hill. The people who run it are nice. The pool is very nice. Now the rooms are very dirty. Carpet and bathroom very...

I had visions of a quaint family owned motel for my vacation. Driving by it seemed like just what I was looking for so I turned around and paid for a room. I had plans to stay a week but couldn't make it past the second night. And the only reason I made it through the first night was because...

I made my reservations two months in advance. I gave them my card. Everything was set. Because of Hurricane Arthur, I called the day we were leaving to confirm the reservation. I told him we would be in late. He said he would put the key and directions to the room in the key box. When we arrived at 2:30...

We stayed 3 nights at the Brookwood. Beautiful clean pool, nice people and best of all, they have a horseshoe pit! Joe and Jimmy are both very friendly, down to earth folks, and do their best to make your stay pleasant. The motel is rather old, but they are trying to upgrade.. Give them a chance, and don't back your...

We had thought about staying here for years. Finally just did so. I gave serious thought to just handing the key back to the office and leaving once we saw the room. It was after 10 pm and we were too tired to look else where. The carpet is torn, burned, and filthy dirty. The walls are beat and need...

Think the "old South", a mom-and-pop motel surrounded by live oak trees dripping with spanish moss. Palmetto trees surrounding the pool and hammocks. Even a red lizard in a nearby tree. I LOVED IT. We stayed in the former garage, newly remodeled and it was just wonderful. Room 43. I can't wait to return. The employees were very nice to...

“I stayed in a room that was obviously in a previous home. The guests in the front of the house were enjoying their beer while they watched me and tried to engage me in conversation. I didn't feel at all safe and was very glad I had my pit bull with me. I think they may have been employees or long term tenants. All I can say is WHERE IS THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT IN MURRELLS INLET???”
