The overall experience could not have been better! We were greeted by Michael the owner, he showed us the Ladies lounge and the Gentlemans lounge, the wine/Library and dining areas which were lovely. Helped us with our luggage. We stayed in the Hunter Room with a view of the grounds, beautiful 12' glass doors allowed for the sunlight to show...

We had planned to stay one night and ended up staying two due to car problems. We were thrilled to have car problems! One night was not enough for us...the historic decor and delicious meals are best enjoyed luxuriously slow. The owners, a delightful couple, went out of their way to help us get our car issues resolved while making...

We were traveling home from Florida and Abingdon Manor was recommended to us by friends who regularly stay at The Manor as a great spot to stop half way on the trip north. What a treat! The Inn is charming and the hosts, Patty and Michael, are very gracious and accomadating. Dinner was delicious as was the breakfast the following morning....

We were travelling to the Masters and picked out the Abingdon Manor Inn and Restaurant because it was close and convenient to I95. It sounded like a great place from the online reviews. Everything we experienced was equal to, or exceeded, the great reviews we had read. We had Dinner the evening of our arrival and it was fantastic. We...

My daughter and I stayed in the Yellow Room. The beds were luxurious. The dinner was one of the best meals we had ever eaten. The breakfast were outstanding. The owners were gracious hosts. I hope to return with my husband.

We had a nephew getting married at a nearby venue and we did not want to stay at any of the nearby hotels nor did we want to stay an hour away at a beach location. We just wanted something peaceful and relaxing. What we found was far beyond our expectations! Abingdon Manor was beautiful; in fact it was absolutely...

Our third visit and gets better each time. Incredibly quiet with old South charm, you'll not find a more special place to stay. Don't worry if there is nothing else nearby as this is a destination if you enjoy hospitality and fine cuisine. On each of our visits we have enjoyed wonderful dinners with like minded guests with whom we...

We stayed at the Abingdon Manor Inn and it was simply fabulous - without exaggeration. We had picked the hotel because it sounded just like a Manor in rural England, and it turned out that it was better than most places that are to be found in rural England. We were greeted at the door by Michael who is a...

The Inn is lovely. We stayed in the Hunter Room, but I saw several other rooms as well, and they all were well-appointed and elegant. Patty and Michael are gracious innkeepers, and will attempt to accommodate any need you may have. Fabulous food! Can't say enough about the dinner we had: 6 courses, including lobster thermidor. The menu for each...

This little gem is just a few minutes off I-95, which makes it an ideal stop for travellers using this route. The town of Latta isn't anything special, but the owners of this property have a good thing going at this old manor. Lots of wonderful woodwork, art, and books in this place, and the rooms are nicely appointed. If...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Abingdon Manor provides the only luxury accommodations in the Carolinas or Georgia close to interstate 95. The Inn is listed by AAA as a “Classic Country Inn” and had received the prestigious Four Diamond rating for fifteen consecutive years. The property, on the National Register of Historic Places, was built at the beginning of the 20th century as an opulent private home and, while now an Inn, retains the feel of an opulent private residence. A member of Select Registry, Distinguished Inns of North American, Abingdon Manor is ranked among the best Inns in the country. Located in a residential section of the historic district in the charming village of Latta it is just 25 miles north of Florence. The Inn is halfway between New York City and Palm Beach as well as Washington DC and Jacksonville, Florida and it is just 5 miles east of 95. Purchased by Michael and Patty Griffey from Miami, Florida in 1995 to operate as a luxury Inn, extensive renovations, decorating and landscaping have turned this magnificent building into a refined, elegant setting for travelers. The seven guest rooms in the 10,000 square foot building insures privacy, peace and tranquility. The award winning restaurant, The Dining Room at Abingdon Manor, also rated Four Diamonds by AAA, provides fine dining nightly, with full liquor and wine listing. At a fraction of the cost of comparable properties, the Inn offers the discriminating traveler looking for upscale accommodations a particular value. ... more   less
