We've been staying at Seaside Inn at Isle of Palms since 2012. We return each year for our anniversary. The staff is wonderful. Last year we were enroute and had to cancel due to heavy flooding & road conditions. The hotel representative was so kind when we called. Altho we were past the 48 hour cancellation window, she completely understood and we were not charged. We're booked to return next week and are so looking forward to a respite from the Covid-19 stress.
We've always been able to get the Oceanfront room and it's worth every penny, especially on 2nd or 3rd floors. In the past we've had issues with others taking our balcony chairs on the first floor as there was no clear designation that the chairs were for the occupants of the Oceanfront rooms. We're so hoping this has been resolved and received a kind acknowledgement from the manager.
We're beyond excited to return to the Seaside Inn and it's become our most anticipated vacation every year. We love that towels are provided, breakfast is a good variety, and the location is the best on the Island. It feels like "going home"!

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend. I made reservations in advance and requested an ocean front room, but none were available and they put us on the 'wait' list in case one opened up. When we arrived, we were elated to find out an ocean front room was available. Honestly, sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee in the morning was a great part of the trip. Parking was hassle free, with a few spots available underneath the hotel, on the street, and in the lot across the street. Breakfast was more than adequate with a decent selection. The ladies at the desk, Tonya and Tara were great and very helpful. Not a new and modern place, but clean, comfortable, and a super great location . We will be back to stay here again!

We've stayed at the Seaside Inn for the past 5 or 6 years and had a very enjoyable stay. The front desk employees are always available and very courteous as is the housekeeping service. The beach is readily available especially if you stay in an ocean view room. Ocean view rooms cost more but are well worth the higher rate. Chunky's beach umbrella and chairs have a contract with the Seaside and are only a phone call away from providing you with the umbrella and chairs and a spot on the beach. Lots of things to do and eat in the area.

I don’t mind shabby and run down. But this place was dirty and cheap considering the price per night. There was a tissue stuffed in the bathroom door handle I guess to make the door close properly or provide privacy. How much can it cost to repair the door handle? There was little hot water in the shower, the WiFi went in and out (it’s 2020, you can’t provide decent WiFi?), and when I asked the front desk for more towels at 9 am, they were not in the room by 5 pm when we returned home from the beach. I give it two stars because the the beach is right there and so are shops and restaurants. This place is scuzzy.

So my son, sister in law and her daughter stayed in 1 room. The first room the ac went out so they switched us to a different room. It hasn't been dusted or cleaned in awhile. I used clorox wipes to wipe the lamp bar off with a lot of dust. They also since this covid. And they arent cleaning the rooms at least put a broom and dustpan in each room so guest can clean their floors instead of walking in sand constantly. The continental breakfast was ok with large cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt and pancakes. It could have been a little better but overall it was cute.

After reading some of the reviews here, we were a little concerned about what we might experience staying here. We were in room 109, Single King Bed.  Overall, it was a pleasant stay.  No problems.  There were some annoyances, but nothing extreme.  One of the towel bars was broken, appeared that a repair was in process. The vent fan in the bathroom sounded like it was powered by an internal combustion engine.  There wasn't a soap dish in the shower. Parking was unavailable under the building at most times, and in the remote lot many times, despite management having unauthorized cars towed, but most of the time I was able to park right in front of the building (free 5pm-8am).  TV remote changed channels but wouldn't turn TV off or on.  Some metal fixtures had some rust on them (imagine that in salty ocean air).  The good far outweighed all of that.  Room was nicely decorated and equipped, clean, bed comfortable, lots of towels. Plenty of electrical outlets. Louvered blinds blocked the light well and maintained privacy. Door is a key code. The AC worked great.  Had a refrigerator, microwave, and a nice Keurig coffee maker and plenty of K-cups and condiments, more available from lobby. Breakfast was a nice assortment of pre-packaged foods, such as muffins, granola bars, cereal, etc.  Coffee, Juice, water and milk.  No, it's not a huge breakfast buffet.  If not sufficient for you there's a nice looking restaurant near the remote parking lot that serves breakfast.  The dip pool on the second level was perfect temperature, and gets a little shade in the afternoon if looking to cool off during the middle of the day.  The location of the Inn is perfect.  ON THE BEACH.  Just a short walk out and there you are.  On the street side, it's just a short walk to many restaurants, bars, shops, and activity rentals.

The location is great. Right on the beach, but good luck getting an ocean view room. They’re sparse. The pool closes at 9, which seems pretty early. It’s in walking distance of a few restaurants (next door, two doors down), making it easy to come in from the beach, clean up and go. One elevator and it’s not air conditioned so it’s very stuffy. Rooms are small, but pretty clean. Bed is comfortable. Parking under the hotel is at a minimum and it’s unlikely you get to park there if they’re busy. There is overflow parking, but it’s a bit away. We didn’t know until we got there that we would also be charged $10 a day parking. If you are disabled though, you can park in city parking closer. If not, you’re likely to have to carry your luggage a bit. Simple breakfast includes things like yogurt, a variety of pastries, oatmeal. Things you can get in the lobby and carry back to your room. No maid service while you’re there, which is desperately needed, since you are likely to track sand back to your room, no matter how much you try not to, and then get to walk on it your entire stay. You can also go get yourself some clean towels from a bin by the office and some extra toiletries if you need them from a shelf in the office. The walkways to the rooms are well lit at night, which is great if you’re walking them, not so much if you’re trying to sleep. Blinds are the only window covering and they don’t filter out all of the light. It’s also fairly loud if there is someone talking in the walkway. There’s little to know sound filter, insulation or whatever that muffles sound so you will hear everything being said outside. Not a big deal in the daytime, but it’s hard to sleep sometimes. There is no key card. You get a code to put in to open your door and that is remarkably convenient. It’s great not to have to keep up with a card if you’re going to the beach. The shower is a large walk in but there in no place to sit your shampoo/etc, so you have to sit them on a shelf by the shower. The location is the main draw here.

Even with military discount we ended up paying almost $300 for one night
( Monday) in this sub standard "motel". The whole premises have dingy smell to them. Rooms are terrible, we looked at two and chose "the lesser smelling one", with "partial ocean view". If you lean far enough in your room's window you will be able to see a glimpse of the beach.
Elevators and the front service desk representatives were passive aggressive, seemed that they did not care that the swimming pool was dirty and cloudy, the sink in the room hardly drained, and the window air conditioning made weird noise all the time. To top things off, the morning breakfast, if you can call it that was choice of pocket of oatmeal, sugar loaded cheap granola bar and water bottle. There was no coffee available or hot water for tea, and when asked, the front desk guy said "we're working on getting some tomorrow!
Be warned, stay elsewhere, unless the owners do sizable upgrades to staff and facilities.
By the way, at check in they did not mentioned that there will be a parking fee in addition to the room charges of $12 way across and down the street.

Reserved an Oceanfront Deluxe room. From the pictures and description it looked like you have your own private balcony. Well you don't. You share the balcony with the room next door. There is also no gate keeping other people from sitting out there also and we repeatedly had to ask people to not sit in our chairs. Came for our honeymoon and was expecting to have a private ocean view and to be able to keep our curtains open to enjoy it.. They also do not have have very good parking accommodations. There might be 8-10 spaces underneath the building. They do also offer an overflow lot but good luck getting a spot in there. It's just a sand lot and we had to park our SUV in a very tight spot. Their website stated they offer parking passes for city parking but when we asked about it she said there was just their overflow lot and that we would have to pay at one of the kiosks if we wanted a space out front on the street. They say there is no daily housekeeping but we passed several housekeepers on our way to breakfast. They keep linens, toiletries, etc out in the lobby to get as you need it. Breakfast is 7-10 and consists of cereal, muffins, fruit and maybe yogurt. The room we had was pretty small...about the size of our bedroom at home. Fridge did not work the greatest. Bathroom was very small. Shower was good size but only has one tiny shelf that is only big enough for a bar of soap. The pool is also extremely small...maybe about the size of two hot tubs

The area and the beach are very nice and not commercialized like larger beaches. Several places to eat within walking distance. Our favorite was Coconut Joe's. There are also 3 or 4 souvenir/rental shops across the street also.

The Inn all in all isn't the worst place I stayed. It is older but looks like they are making improvements. It also has excellent beach access. I don't think paying extra for oceanfront was worth it though. If we were to stay here again and that woukd be a big if I definitely would not get an Oceanfront room.

We recently stayed at the Seaside Inn for the second time, and it was just as amazing as the first time, 8 years ago. The oceanfront room had plenty of space and a beautiful view; the staff were very helpful and attentive, even with the safety measures in place due to the pandemic. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back next year.

The room we had was very clean and updated. You can tell it’s an older building but that kind of adds to its charm. We really loved it because of the location and retro style.
