I've been coming to Fripp Island every year since 1975 when my dad found a small ad in a golf magazine (only way to find things then!). Now come with extended family and children. Fripp is quiet and laid back. That's why we like it....More
Been through 6 East Coast Hurricanes. Never seen so many untouched houses and so many downed trees and debris lining every street. Sawgrass boardwalk (Foot/Bike path) gone. Sawgrass Crab Dock gone. Hunting Island fishing pier. Partially gone but closed until 2017. Been going to Fripp...More

You truly feel like you stepped into another world when crossing the bridge onto Fripp Island. Wildlife is so abundant.
Mosquitos are quite abundant toward dusk.
Have drivers license ready when approaching gate house.

My dad retired from the Marines and I grew up in the area for some years but I always go back every summer to Fripp Island and Beaufort both places are layed back and beautiful. However it is a little drive to Parris Island around 30 min. If you were staying several days then it would be worth it staying at Fripp because the hotels fill up fast. I don't know when his graduation is but you may want to check Bed and Breakfast or hotels in Port Royal if there is any available.
