I recently stayed at the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel and was pleased with my experience. The property is currently under renovation, so there are some modest inconveniences. For example, the hotel restaurant and bar, and the hotel fitness center were not open when I was there. However, there is a well equipped fitness facility directly across the street from...

I'll start with the strong... the valet and front desk are wonderfully staffed. Excellent service from both! That's where the good ends. The rooms are ill appointed, they are very noisy, old and poorly outfitted. We rented a movie {$18} and couldn't watch it because it was so grainy and the sound was delayed. Room service didn't offer great food,...

I'm platinum for life with Marriott and checked in yesterday. When I got to the room it smelled strongly like epoxy/glue presumably from the renovation. Windows wouldn't open. I called the front desk and the young woman went to check the only other available room. She called to tell me it "also had an odor by I could come see...

Stayed 1 night on a business trip; a nice hotel, slightly fancy, more modern than historic. Room was as expected. Property is undergoing renovation Jan/Feb 2017, so some parts closed....main lobby, gym. Nice bar/cafe area. Parking is across the street after you drop off luggage.

My wife and I decided to steal away for a weekend to celebrate a professional accomplishment of hers. I notified the staff in advance of arriving, and they courteously upgraded our room, and even had a special treat waiting for us in the room. The hotel is perfectly located, and the room was brand new and contemporary. The staff smiled...

Located in the heart of the Charleston Historic District, the Renaissance was the perfect place to spend our anniversary as we explored this charming jewel of the South. Almost everything we wanted to do and see was within walking distance. Our room was well kept and comfortable. The staff was ever so helpful and friendly. Unlike most higher end Marriott...

My husband and I just stayed at the Renaissance in Charleston over the weekend. My husband surprised me with this quick weekend getaway. We have a three year old at home and were looking for some nice relaxing time away just the two of us. Unfortunately we were not aware that the hotel was under construction when we booked it....

The web site said they had some remodeling being done. What they did not tell you is that it was constant machines tearing up the concrete and being hauled away to containers. It was 8-5 every day. The pounding of the machines was loud. They even worked on Sunday. Once they finish the remodeling you will find the location very...

We stayed at this hotel this past weekend as we went to Charleston to participate in the Charleston Marathon. The staff and the location were great. When I arrived and checked into my room I was not happy with the view as I was looking at a pile of sheet rock outside my window. I talked to the front desk...

Like everyone else has said, the renovations kind of negated all of the other lovely things about this hotel. Great location, very friendly staff, rooms weren't anything opulent but nice enough. Unfortunately the sounds of carpet bring ripped up at 6pm on a Friday evening and drilling at 8am on a Sunday morning made it a little tough for us...
