Arrived late on a Wednesday, March 8th, after long drive and met cheerfully. The B&B was described to us as we were shown to our room (Laurens). The room had a king bed and was very spacious with access to the second story porch. The triple windows operation was explained so we could exit to the porch. Though the inn...

Thank you for your kind words, glad we were part of a good first visit to "the holy city". We try very hard to meet or exceed our guests expectations. Had I know you were an early riser I would have arranged to have a coffee maker in your room. We do try to have coffee and tea out by...

We arrived at 2030hrs just in time to catch the front desk clerk, check in was simple and uncomplicated. Shown to our room on the 3rd floor in this majestic old home. Found it strange there was no coffee making facilities in the room or downstairs after our long drive, but oh well. Bed was comfortable enough. Breakfast next morning...

Beautifully decorated for the historic period, but with a modern bathroom, which was great. Within walking distance to a large amount of the sites you'd want to see. Breakfast was fantastic. Terrance, the chef is so friendly, knowledgable, and fun, he made us feel right at home. After a day of sightseeing, you can come home to wine & cheese...

My wife and I just had our 2nd trip to The Governor's House Inn in Charleston, SC. We were extremely impressed on both stays. The staff are outstanding - helpful, kind and courteous, and responsive to all our needs. They prepared delicious breakfasts each morning and had wonderful wine and hors d'oeuvres every afternoon. we were able to enjoy our...

The Governor's Inn was incredibly charming, well maintained and the food (prepared by the proprietor- Terrence?) was fantastic. Our room was really magnificent, with a giant bathroom and balcony. We would definitely go back

The warm welcome is matched by the warm fall air as we strolled around the most historic and beautiful parts of old Charleston, all just steps from our room at this lovely place. The history is fascinating and the home is well preserved. It is not new - if you are looking for floors that don't creak and fixtures that...

Thank you for your lovely words of praise. It's not often one can stay in the home of one of the signers of The Declaration of Independence. Glad you liked our uniqueness. Hope you will return soon. Bryan

The Governor's House Inn is a terrific B&B. We learned of it through friends who had stayed there previously and highly recommended it. They were "spot-on." I made reservations and we were immediately welcomed on-line. I later realized that we would arrive in the early evening after a long drive and asked that the Inn find us a "casual, walking...

My husband and I spent an absolute incredible weekend in the Governor's House's Christopher Suite in the old kitchen building. We had the ability to engage with the other guests for breakfast and afternoon sweets yet have the intimacy of our private porch. The breakfasts had every guest begging for recipes (which WERE shared!) We can't wait to return soon.

My wife and I frequent bed and breakfasts to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, they are not all equal. The Governor's House Inn is absolutely wonderful. The food is excellent. The staff strives to please. Parking right down on inn property only enhances what makes this a wonderful experience. All of the outstanding restaurants are within walking distance, and the surroundings...

We stayed over a weekend during a short getaway. We got the last room, which happened to be in the basement, an obvious addition to the regular guest rooms. My wife detected a slight damp smell as you might get in a basement but I couldn't pick it up. The room was very large and the bathroom also very large....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Governor's House Inn offers the rare pleasures, aristocratic comforts and romantic grandeur of a pre-revolutionary National Landmark. We are the only inn in America where you can sleep where a signer of the Declaration of Independence once lived. With magnificent drawing rooms, boudoir staterooms, and expansive veranda porches, it is no wonder that the former Governor's mansion was proclaimed the most glamorous of Charleston inns by Travel Holiday. ... more   less
