Great location for a visit to Charleston, right in between the main shopping district, the key restaurant area (East Bay Street) and the area with the antebellum houses. Great location to experience southern antebellum life as it must have been : great and nicely decorated rooms with a zillion paintings, fine furniture and delicately chosen decorations. Do not forget taking...

Absolute PERFECTION! From the moment Terrance warmly greeted us on the side porch of The Governor's House Inn and invited us to take a breath, relax and give ourselves permission to enjoy ourselves, to the good-bye hugs we received from Terrance and Ben in the beautiful courtyard, our stay at GHI could not have been any more wonderful. Upon our...

We came in on Sunday evening. We were greeted by the nicest gentleman and immediately felt like we were home away from home. The rooms ( we actually stayed in three of them as we decided to extend out stay in Charleston and had to jump around which was fine, Terrance had our luggage moved) . Breakfast was different each...

This is second time we stayed at this property. Although the first stay was nice, the second time was outstanding. Several specific points: -the staff is friendly and attentive. Starts with Terrance. Though he has an easy manner about him, he is all about the little details that make the B&B experience special. -the breakfasts were spectacular. Shrimp and grits,...

I stayed here with one of my girlfriends and our moms last summer. The entire experience was truly top notch. The staff was friendly, the check-in/check-out process was so accommodating, and when they say bed and breakfast, they mean it. We had 5 star meals every morning! Extremely reasonably priced and close to everything in the heart of Charleston. The...

The location alone--within walking distance to almost everything you'd want to do in Charleston--is enough to recommend The Governor's House Inn, but it offers so much more. (Check out the guest photos of the house and its rooms and suites; not enough room here to describe them adequately.) Nor is there enough room to describe the remarkable hospitality provided by...

The Governor's House was a great choice. It is historic and within easy walking distance of attractions in Charleston. We were made to feel quite welcome by both Brian and Terrance. Our room was on the third floor - one of two rooms in the attic. Surprisingly, it was a good size, had 2 wing chairs and a beautiful night...

Our check-in process was flawless. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Darleen kept our room in top notch condition. Bryan W. made our stay stress free and relaxing. His services were outstanding. Great restaurants recommendations. Bryant Stewart and Terrence R. cooked us the most delicious breakfast, true southern delights. Ben served us a delicious breakfast out in the porch...

This is a very nice inn and in a great location which was central but quiet. What made our stay special is the hospitality of the staff. Terrence especially made our stay enjoyable. We stayed in the Kitchen House: the patio for our room was our favorite hangout but the Inn has a large and lovely common porch.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Governor's House Inn offers the rare pleasures, aristocratic comforts and romantic grandeur of a pre-revolutionary National Landmark. We are the only inn in America where you can sleep where a signer of the Declaration of Independence once lived. With magnificent drawing rooms, boudoir staterooms, and expansive veranda porches, it is no wonder that the former Governor's mansion was proclaimed the most glamorous of Charleston inns by Travel Holiday. ... more   less
