Normally I would say that Planter's Inn is a Lovely Boutique Hotel and first rate property having stayed her in the past. This visit was a bit of a disappointment in that we found the upholstery in our Governor's Suite, which one would expect to be premium, to be worn and downright filthy. We were moved to a new suite,...

Planters inn was once one of very few luxury hotels in Charleston. They have not kept up with the times in amenities or service. Very clean but the rooms need to be updated. The service is nothing special. Little things - I asked to see one of the new suites. Desk clerk said ok but later in the day would...

We were in Charleston on a leisure trip. We have stayed in many Relais & Chateaux properties and have never been disappointed - until now. We had a penthouse room with a balcony which overlooked the market. It was great to enjoy morning coffee or a bottle of wine on the balcony. The hotel is in a prime location, close...

Excellent value in a superb location in downtown Charleston. Peninsula Grill is a first rate dining destination. Welcoming staff that represents the best of Southern hospitality. Would not consider staying any place else on our next visit.

The Planters Inn is very well situated for easy access to the sights and experiences of historic Charlestown. The rooms are well kept and the four poster beds very comfortable. A charming patio made for delightful breakfasts to start the day.

Our second visit to Charleston and staying 5 nights at the Planter's Inn was as lovely an experience as our first last year. Attentive service from the bellmen to the housekeepers and the wait staff at the terrific Peninsula Grill. Two delicious dinner's ended with their signature coconut cake. Just scrumptious! Museums, restaurants and the wonderful house and garden tour...

The best place to stay in Charleston. We have spent a night or two there every spring the last 5 years. I wish I could live there. There rooms are great. Location could not be better. Up to Relais & Chateaux standards.

This is a smaller boutique hotel with a good restaurant and excellent staff. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The down side of this hotel is minimal amenities. Overall it was a good choice, walking distance from many local attractions and restaurants.

Planters Inn is in a perfect location right across from City Market and walking distance to many great restaurants. In addition the accommodation is amazing. An elegant colonial style building with a large room and bathroom and very comfortable bed and sitting area. the staff are are very friendly and helpful. Valet parking, while expensive, was efficient and convenient. The...

Our first visit to Charleston landed us at this "less than desirable" hotel. Although the place is located in a central area of town, it is very "tired" and the lack of maintenance is evident! Our entire visit of three nights was a continuing comedy of errors! When you pay over $500/night--below average is not expected!!! Upon check-in there was...

Dear Tom D, First and foremost, I am sorry. Our sole mission is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable experience to each and every guest. Holding court in the very heart of Charleston's famed Historic District, the 64-room Planters Inn Relais & Châteaux is the city's iconic grande dame hotel. Uniformed doormen welcome every arrival, ushering guests inside the gloriously restored circa 1844 building to a sanctuary of elegant style and genteel service. Soaring ten-foot ceilings, dozens of working fireplaces, and a stunning collection of antiques and Baker Historic Charleston décor, including a sumptuous four poster bed in every guest room, create a luxurious ambiance described by Travel + Leisure as "akin to an overnight with well-to-do friends in their old Charleston mansion." Hushed tones of buttercream, Lowcountry greens, and pale powder blue paint the walls, while raw silk fabrics frame the windows. There's also more to Planters Inn than meets the eye: A hidden courtyard illuminated by flickering carriage lanterns provides a beguiling entry to Peninsula Grill, the city's foremost dining experience.
