perfect location, excellent breakfast, very friendly and competent staff. The rooms were very comfortable, great bed. Open air atrium made a great place for a cocktail. Also had outdoor seating area which was also great for drinks. Parking right next to hotel and right down town in old district.

I have stayed at Fulton Inn before -this Inns sister property and liked it better. Kings Courtyard is right on King- great location but rooms are old, bathrooms small- but nice continental breakfast. Hated paying $14 to park car after spending over $300 per night for a room, however.

We stayed here for four nights while doing work at the University. This hotel is located in a great spot, right on King Street and in walking distance of wonderful bars, restaurants and the old city. However, that is where the good things end. The hotel room was musty and had my partner sneezing within minutes of entering the room....

The hotel is pet friendly and they have a section exclusively dedicated to pets. We stayed for 2 nights and really liked it. We brought our 2 little dogs but the hotel does not have a pet weight limit. The hotel is in a great location and we were able to walk to everything. There is a dog park about...

We arrived here hoping for a better experience than we had had in Savannah. We were not disappointed. Our room was spacious and big enough bathroom area, compared to a tiny spot in our last hotel. Our tv did not work and was replaced immediately, which impressed us. Location of the Inn could not have been more central for our...

We stayed here on a recent visit to Charleston. The location is good. The inn is centrally located on King's Street, with walkable access to the Battery and the core of Charleston. However, there are problems. The inn is in need of a good refurb and new paint. Decor and furnishings are tired and dated; fabrics look to be from...

The location is excellent. It ends there. We start out with a hotel that offers no help with luggage and a manager who is unfriendly and could care less. The room is not clean - we had to ask for new towels, to have the sink cleaned and have the garbage can emptied. We also almost ran out of a...

We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. It is our policy to make sure our guests are given a warm welcome and have help with their luggage if needed. We are very sorry for this oversight; this certainly does not reflect the high value we place on customer service and Southern Hospitality. Thank you for your...

I stayed here 4 nights in March 2017. The room averaged about $255 per might which was good value for such an in-city location. What I liked best was that the layout of the hotel and its rooms were not cookie-cutter and predictable. All was rather charming. The location was superb for walking around the top sights of Charleston. We...

We took our mother on a bucket list trip to Charleston and we count have been more pleased with the city or with the hotel! She is in a wheel chair so we were a bit uneasy going to an old world hotel, but everything was quite manageable and the location right on King St in the heart of the...

I just spent 3 days in Charleston staying at the Kings Courtyard Inn. This was my second stay at this property because of the location. It is easy to walk to any of the downtown attractions, restaurants, and there is plenty of shopping on King Street. The staff is very pleasant. We enjoyed the wine & cheese hour (5-6) before...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1853, Kings Courtyard Inn is one of downtown Charleston, South Carolina's most historic inns. Architect Francis D. Lee designed the three-story antebellum structure in the Greek revival style with unusual Egyptian detail. The building is one of King Street's largest and oldest structures, and has had many uses during its 150 year existence. The building has housed high quality shops, private residences and at one time, the upper floors served as hotel rooms for plantation owners, shipping interests and merchant guests. Kings Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn maintains the residential atmosphere of lower King Street, and extreme care has been taken to ensure the necessary architectural and historic accuracy for which Charleston is famous. Each of the rooms has an individual distinction. All rooms feature oversized beds- some have canopied beds and fireplaces. Many rooms boast excellent views of the inn's interior courtyards. All hotel guests receive complimentary sherry on arrival and a morning newspaper delivered to the room. They also receive a continental breakfast served each morning in their room, the courtyards, or in the breakfast room. Kings Courtyard Inn is within easy walking distance of Charleston's historic homes, gardens, churches and only a block away from the City Market. Here, one may explore interesting shops or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many delightful restaurants. ... more   less
