Perfectly located for any walking trips, beautifully restored historic hotel where every room is elegant and special. Staff is friendly and on point. From the second I arrived staff was there to help, check in quickly and set up.

After our disaster hotel in New Orleans on our last sister's trip, I had to redeem myself with the hotel in Charleston. I did! Not only is The Francis Marion centrally located and close to the bus/vistor's center, the staff all the way around was amazing, clean, and wonderful! Pretty sure our room was the one that's in most of...

We just returned from a 2 day trip to Charleston, staying at the Francis Marion Hotel. Although the Lobby itself is beautiful, the room was not worth the high price. We originally had a reservation for last fall at a really good price of $169 and when the hurricane hit the Carolinas, we changed our date to the spring. Even...

We are focused on offering a hospitable and comfortable place to stay when our guests visit Charleston. Our staff is normally known for their friendliness and kind disposition, and it is concerning to hear that someone might have offered you anything less. I sincerely apologize for the poor experience we provided, but appreciate the feedback. Sincerely, Stephen Parker, Hotel Manager

Lovely historic hotel with elegant lobby area, clean and nicely decorated rooms, very friendly staff and comfortable pillows and mattress. Love the deluxe room with two bathrooms! Convenient location - walking distance to visitor's center and great restaurants.

This hotel is very clean, historic and had great views! It has charm and class. All employees were top notch and extremely helpful. Room was clean, and historic feel made it feel quaint and unique! Would highly recommend this hotel for Charleston travelers! It's location is spot on for all Charleston has to offer: close to bus station, shopping, restaurants,...

This is a centrally located hotel, within walking distance of many dining and shopping options. Pharmacy across the street was convenient for last-minute needs. Hotel borders the University of Charleston campus, so be ready for lots of college kids and families going on campus tours. Parking is self-parking with garage that connects via sidewalk, not direct access into building. Valet...

I found the hotel to be clean and with a very friendly staff. But the hotel is as advertised, a very old hotel. They were sweeping the stair carpets with a broom to not to damage them with a vacuum due to the age. The bathrooms were the real deal breaker. The are like a cruise ship bathroom. They are...

We do have a very historic building that we host our guests in, Jimmy. The facilities in some rooms are the size they are due to the constraints of the original building design. We are always making improvements to our space while maintaining the integrity. I hope we have another chance to make a better impression the next time you're...

A grand 1920s hotel that, according to their literature, had major renovation in the 1990s. Very stylish lobby, good service, well-maintained, clean. Our room on the 4th floor was very quiet but did not have much of a view; there are probably good views from the higher floors. The room we had was quite comfortable; it had a king and...

This hotel is "vintage". Our room was very quiet and comfortable. The lobby is spacious and includes many seating areas, so can accommodate lots of people who need to take a break. The Swamp Fox restaurant has a cozy bar for a night cap before retiring. Get your morning joe in the adjacent Starbucks or walk a half block to...

The location is perfect except...very noisy on Saturday night. I'm not sure any rules or decorum is enforced. *Our room had a great view but was actually crowded. Small was not the end of the world. * rooms are clean but dated; room lighting is harsh. a smaller night light would have been nice--or maybe something dimmable. The biggest issue??...

While we're pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, for the most part, D. F., it's unfortunate to hear that you felt our booking system wasn't as transparent as you would have preferred. You should always know what your cost of stay is before you checkout, and I'll have to see why some of the taxes and fees weren't...
