Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff all around, but left the hotel feeling like I had been taken advantage of, which in speaking to my driver on the way home seems to be a normal occurrence with guests. Only 2 restaurants- Octagon is barely a 3 star resort but with higher prices and small portion sizes and we come from Manhattan where a sandwich is $18 now so for us to feel this way is hard. Riverhouse was BEAUTIFUL and the service was very good, but again prices way too high for the portion sizes. The bar they market called hush is closed Sunday-Tuesday. Pool Service- totally lacking at both pool decks. Understaffed and overcrowded on weekends especially. This is a 3 star pool experience at best. Concierge- totally lacking any knowledge and almost felt like they were arguing with me. Luckily I ended up meeting a nice person from the 3rd party "Outside Palmetto" company who was helpful. Don't waste your time with the concierge. Cadillac Service- this did not exist. Upon arrival they claimed all their cars were broken (4 of them). Who knows what is true but all I know was I was trapped in their campus and they didn't offer me complimentary car service to Old Bluffton because their car service was down. The new GM has banned Ubers from coming down into the complex to pick people up so don't try to call one or schedule one for a return trip. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! They are running a scam on their billing. I have a very good sense of numbers and remember the prices of things I order. A $17 drink was marked up to $24 with add ons not listed on the menu. The management team at the front desk played dumb didn't know what to do and the manager then told it was under investigation. Only for it to happen on EVERY bill I had on the trip. Resulted in the management crediting me $500 probably to keep me quiet with the other guests who were probably being robbed. They are also charging 13% Sales tax on liquor drinks. Not sure that is even legal and seems like tax fraud in the state of SC. Overall though the campus is BEAUTIFUL. There are scenic bike tours and things to explore around the area and fantastic fishing if you get the right guide, but be prepared to pay 5 star prices but get small portions and 4 star service. I would not return to this facility not because of quality of the grounds or the rooms, but because it is just way over priced and their integrity and competency is clearly lacking here. No wonder they are being sued by the homeowners!

Hotel's Favourite
We loved it so much we came back two summers in a row! First, I should say that we live in coastal southern California, so we are lucky to have natural beauty on a daily basis, but there is something about the tranquility in this locale that draws us in. Montage is unbeatable. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have every possible thoughtful detail and convenience, and we especially love the larger bathroom size. All dining options are outstanding, and housekeeping is impeccable (and I am very hard to please on that one.) The pool area is beautiful and has a great vibe, and our favorite on-property is electric bikes for miles and miles of safe and beautiful trails in and out of the residential area and golf course. I always think it's weird when people comment on employees at a hotel because it seems pretentious, but I would be remiss not to mention Richard (valet), Zulfira (front desk), and Firoze (rooms) who are all three so devoted and passionate about the property, it's contagious! They do not miss an opportunity to make guests feel welcome and spoiled. MPB is so close to Savannah Airport, and a super easy drive up to Charleston for a day or two on either end of your trip. If you are on the fence about trying this property, DO IT - you will not be disappointed.

This place wins on location. The entire compound feels like Pleasantville or a movie set. It is truly magical. It gave me such a calm and peaceful feeling. I spent most of my time biking around the premises and admiring the beauty. If you don’t like biking, they offer every kind of activity you can think of. It is like a high-end camp for adults. Side note- be careful if you bike at night. I rode my bike to dinner, over the bridge by River Club and there was a gator (baby luckily) sitting right at the edge of the grass. I got so scared! Another aspect that I appreciated is that they have an upscale market on-site. The market offers everything you can think of, which was super convenient. A few issues- the rooms need some TLC especially the bathrooms. A piece of the faucet handle fell off when I was using it. Additionally, there was a roach by the elevator on my floor. Most of the bikes need to be upgraded with new chains or just completely replaced. The hotel staff were very visible, which is not what I was expecting. Some employees could have been a bit more mindful of the conversations they were having in front of myself and other guests. Personal chatter and staff meetings, even if 1:1, should always be behind closed doors, in my opinion. Lastly, the restaurants here were beautiful but the menu items could have been a bit more innovative. All of the restaurants had the exact same cuisine…

I have returned to Palmetto Bluff two summers in a row with my family, and the experience was wonderful both times. Upon arriving to the Inn, you are met with perfect accomodations and amazing customer service. The Rooms Divison definitely knows what they are doing! The pools are lovely as well and the sprawling acreage has plenty of activities for kids and adults alike. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I am constantly impressed by this establishment. I can't wait for our next trip out there!

I went as a guest of an employee to this fabulous city within a city! The grounds were gorgeous and all of the staff were so friendly. We had dinner at Octagon. The food and cocktails were delicious! I wish I could've stayed in one of the cottages - they looked so warm and inviting! I can only base my review on dinner and grounds, as we did not stay over night.

Day 1, arrival day - Three dead cockroaches found. Yes, thank goodness they were dead but finding three on the floor after our room was “cleaned” was rather disturbing. We also had our 11 month old granddaughter with us. I was very concerned that she might find another one and put it in her mouth. Later in the day I walked into the bathroom to find a LARGE house centipede running across the floor. Day 2 - two dead cockroaches found first thing in the morning. They definitely weren’t there the day before so I guess they come out of hiding to die. It was a lovely thing to wake up to…not. Also found the dried up remains of a frog along the wall of the sunroom. To top it off, my husband was showering when he noticed a live cockroach sitting on the bench IN the shower with him. IN THE SHOWER with him. Day 3 - two more dead cockroaches discovered when we woke up. Later in the day we found a very much alive one on the countertop in the kitchen. Super happy to see it running around where we eat. Even happier to discover that there is no disinfectant spray left in the room to clean the countertops with. Day 4 - final full day of our stay - one dead cockroach found on the floor and a live one found in the bathroom sink. Day 5 - I can’t even begin to describe to you how glad I was to leave. The place is beautiful, the staff was great, the food was good. None of that matters when we have to deal with filthy cockroaches on a daily basis. To be clear, I’m very aware that cockroaches are a thing in the south and knew I would see them. I did not think we would have to deal with them in our room every single day. It was a completely unacceptable situation.

Have been to the Montage Palmetto Bluff several times and prior visits were fair to good, but we come back because of the location. There are major changes occurring due to an ownership change of Palmetto Bluff. Some facilities are no longer open to guests which is unfortunate. Some new changes have been a plus such as Buzz coffee and River House restaurant. It continue to be the staff at the Montage that makes coming there worthwhile. George in Buzz coffee shop was our first contact on the day of arrival. He was so positive and helpful showing us around River House that day. It is possible to tell when someone is proud to be a member of the work force and he certainly was. Had a poor experience on our second visit to River House Restaurant but spoke with Damien the manager and he did an excellent job at service redemption. Our third visit to the restaurant was superb. It is always the people that makes an experience rememberable. Some things will never be quite the same due to changes, but I hope that the Montage try to add breakfast options for the families in homes in Wilson Village. Having booked through American Express we had breakfast credits but options were limited to the Octagon Restaurant, which has slow service, in room dining, which was excellent or going to Buzz for coffee and a roll. Thought should be given to breakfast location at River House.

As soon as we arrived at the Octagon. Ngaa the manager, was rude, had a tone in her voice and was very unprofessional. She should not be greeting customers. The Bartenders Victor, Michael & Lisa were great. They are friendly and provided great service.

For a luxury property, spa service not great. I’ve had other stone massages, several at other luxury resorts in California, Arizona and Hawaii, as well as locally. This service was disappointing and not well done. Shouldn’t offer a service if staff is not trained to do it the best! We love PB, but spa service questionable. Therapist did nothing wrong—just wasn’t trained to do a stone therapy.

I have had this property on my list for quite some time and we got to take the trip for Spring Break this year. I have so many good things to say -I don't even know where to begin. All of the staff here is just incredible. They are hospitable, friendly and helpful. From the minute you arrive, and the valet greets you with southern charm you feel like you are on a wonderful retreat from life back home. Our check in experience was seamless and then we were whisked off by a bellman in a golf cart to our Lagoon Guest House room. Our room was spacious, well-appointed and so beautiful. There were four of us and normally we do a suite, but we never felt cramped in the double room. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was a thing of beauty decked out in marble. The kids loved the tree swing that was just outside our door and spent hours swinging (when they weren't riding the bikes). The restaurants were all lovely and the food was delicious. The pool area was perfect and the service at the pool was amazing! But the star of the show here is the property. Checking out bicycles is a MUST do. We rode everywhere -miles of trails led to fun treehouses, cafes and by gorgeous homes and chapels along moss-filled, treelined streets and trails. We spotted alligators every day-which was a hit with the kids. Collecting the pins seems corny at most resorts, but both my tween and teen actually really loved experience. We also signed up for the private boating tour and this was an amazing way to see the local waterways and wildlife with a guide rich with history and fun facts. We got to spend time on a couple of islands (including walking on a lower tide area made up of oyster shells) and did some fishing. We kept saying we felt like we were at a glam summer camp and really didnt want it to end. We cannot wait to return!
