We normally do a Cape Cod trip for the summer, but this year we decided to book a weekend in Narragansett at The Shore House. WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DID! Narragansett is a total gem and our stay at this hotel was fantastic! We were in one of the double balcony rooms as they call Oceanside building, which was nicely updated and appointed - the room have mini fridge, Keurig, all toiletries that we needed, nice linens and bath towels. You can’t beat the location of this hotel - easy walk to beach, restaurants and shops. The Hotel offers to their guests Priority Bicycles, we spent an afternoon exploring the area and went all the way to the bike path, they have a special map for the bike path, what was a very special touch. I can't say enough about the staff, they were all friendly and helpful. Everyone smiling and ready to assist us. This hotel has become our new destination when in Rhode Island for sure. We would highly recommend The Shore House. Thank you for making our little vacation incredible.

PROS: Excellent location across from ocean. Easy drive to many places. Block Island Ferry Terminal located in Galilee an easy short drive away. There a a couple of good restaurants in Galilee. The Coast Guard Restaurant which features a great menu and is located on the ocean is just a short walk from the hotel. Great outside seating, tables on lawn to relax and enjoy ocean views.
CONS: Room we stayed in was small, not many electric outlets, could hear noise from above and next door, no desk and chair, heard leaf blower outside door at 7:14 a.m.
Summary: In spite of the cons it was a great place to stay and the staff was excellent.

The Shore House has been our very favorite place to stay at in Narragansett.

First off, the service is paramount. In the current times, warm gestures and genuine attention to detail means the world. Luciana, the GM, offers world class service while making people feel like family. While there may be other choices in the area, The Shore House is the only one for us because it feels like home away from home.

Secondly, the main house balcony room offers an unmatched view. Beautiful outdoor furniture completes the experience so that meals can be enjoyed literally on the ocean.

Special thanks again to Luciana, who makes our time at The Shore House incredibly special each and every time!

Luciana is an excellent manager, hospitable and helpful. But the physical condition and amenities at the hotel are very disappointing. We splurged on rooms 2 and 3, “king balcony” rooms which have an ocean view and cost $500/night. Beware especially of room 2, which has a tiny windowless bathroom accessed by two steep, uneven stairs. The closet door in Room 2 is impossible to close, so you are always staring at your coat hangers. Room 3 is the blue room on the website photo, which does not show the holes in the screen door and the bent screen frame, the rusty chairs on the deck (which needs to be cleaned of algae), the tired, scuffed chair, or the tangle of cables hanging from the TV (which can't be adjusted to be easily viewed from the bed). Pillows were lumpy. The website promises Frette kimono and slippers, which did not exist. Other non-existent items I’d expect in a room at this price at minimum include a deadbolt or privacy lock on the door, a safe, an extra blanket, good light at the bathroom mirror and a light in the closet. (I would not expect to find the missing lower pneumatic cylinder from the screen door thrown onto the back of the closet shelf.) The lobby was staged for the photos with much classier furniture than the tired stuff that’s actually there. The waitstaff from the restaurant run through the lobby on the way to the kitchen, so lobby furniture is awkwardly pushed up against the fireplace.

No one was expecting the Ritz, but our room, #10, was a cottage aspiring to provide the bare necessities. There was no closet or armoire. The heating/cooling unit blew directly into the face of the occupant of the bed nearest it. A hint for future occupants — we used an open umbrella as a diffuser. It did the trick. The bathroom was small, the shower adequate. The vanity was not in the bathroom, but rather in the bedroom itself, necessitating improvised changes to our morning routine. The staff was friendly. We stayed two nights and, if I recall correctly, we used no maid service. The restaurant was not open either of the two days we stayed, so our experience didn’t go beyond having a place to sleep during a family visit. The Shore House was up to the task, if lacking in bells and whistles.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We appreciate your honesty and understanding that the Shore House offers a more basic accommodation experience in our adjacent buildings. We hope that if you join us again it can be in our main inn where we believe you will be pleasantly surprised with the elegant and colorful design. We're happy to hear the friendly staff made a positive impression! While we are constantly making improvements to the rooms, it is great to know our staff is consistently a positive aspect of the stay.

I went for a short 4 days trip and had an amazing and relaxing experience. As soon as I arrived I had the chance to meet the manager, Luciana, and she was very kind and helpful. She gave me great tips on where to go and what to do, always smiling, a great person. Also, they have a delicious restaurant called Sea Craft, a great place to have a drink or eat.
The room was amazing, so comfortable and cozy and I love the setup. They also have some bicycles available for guests to ride along the water. I ended my trip fully recharged and ready to go back to "real life".

We pulled up and were pleasantly surprised that the waterfront photos were not an exaggeration. Although the room didn’t have a water view it was visible within a few steps out of the door. We traveled with an infant and a toddler. Right after checking in the manager(I think) offered an upgrade because she probably knew we were bringing a pack and play and baby items. The staff were kind and instantly helped with all of my requests. I asked to have something in the room modified and by the time I came back from getting coffee it was done. The room itself was newly renovated, simple, modern style which was nice. The ice machine was great for beach coolers and the mini fridge was awesome to have with kids. I’d definitely recommend this place and will go back!

The website shows large rooms and a beautiful old building, but most availability is in an annex structure that was obviously built to jam in as many people as possible. It’s cute, and they really tried to make these small spaces as unique and quirky as possible, but for what they charge, it’s not worth it. Looking for rooms that don’t match the website? Interested in paper-thin floors so you hear every single bit of movement above you? How about a restaurant that doesn’t serve breakfast? Sinks so small and awkward placed under a shelf that you might as well just cup water in your hands and dump it on yourself. Would you like to hear the people in adjacent rooms go to the bathroom? If any of these things sound like a good use of your $, then this is the place for you!!! Beach is close, so that’s how they get you, but there are much better spots up and down the coast that cost the same.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your honesty and we're sorry to hear that your stay with us fell short of expectations. We understand your disappointment regarding the room size in the annex building and lack of breakfast service at the restaurant. We strive to clearly communicate the variety of accommodations we offer on our website, but we'll take your feedback into consideration to see if there are ways to improve this. We're glad you enjoyed the proximity to the beach, but we recognize that might not be enough for everyone. Your suggestion to explore other options along the coast is valuable, and we hope you find the perfect fit for your future travels.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at The Shore House. The location is perfect, right across the street from the ocean. We took long walks along the beach every day of our visit, which was great. We thought we would put on weight during the trip due to the clam cakes and chowder, but we stayed the same weight, probably due to the great daily walks. The staff at the hotel is wonderful. They are very accommodating and easy to talk with. The location is very convenient to walk to restaurants, stores, etc. We had a couple of things in our room that could be improved, but nothing significant. WE would happily stay there again, especially if the staff, including Luciana and Courtney are still there.

My sister & I just spent 4 beautiful days @ the Shore House in gorgeous Narragansett this past week. The accommodations of the newly renovated Shore House were perfect!
The staff was so friendly & considerate to all our needs. The general manager, Luciana Arbogast was always smiling & asking what she could do to make our stay a better experience. There was nothing they could change to make our stay more pleasant . It was PERFECT! I highly recommend the Shore House with Luciana Arbogast in charge!

Is Ocean Rose Inn similar to a Motel 6
Erica A asked a question Aug 2014

where is the closest public beach?
Answer from Doug Brady
South Kingstown, Rhode Island
Narragansett beach is. 3 tenths of a mile away. You can see it from the Inn. Directly across the street is the water and board walk. Narragansett beach is a town beach which means you have to pay to park your car and pay per person to physically access the beach. Scarborough Beach is a State run beach which is about a mile away. At this beach you only pay to park your car, there is no per person charger to access the beach. I hope this info was helpful Thank you
