Just spent a weekend at Skytop. The lodge is a beautiful old stone building. I stayed in the lowest cost room (deluxe king) which was not cheap ($400 a night). I was little nervous about the bathroom ahead of time based on some of the reviews. However, the room was actually pretty nice. Updated, clean carpet and good heat. There were plenty of bottles of water, which were free and replenished daily. The bathroom was fine - there was a (small) bathtub and shower combo. The breakfast buffet was very good. The library bar and the food at the Lakeview Restaurant were excellent. Service was outstanding all over the resort. There were plenty of activities included (skiing, tubing, hiking, bikes etc) that actually justify the price if you plan ahead. Overall a really good experience.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and wonderful! Clean, old world charm, great food, fun activities, reat staff ...it's not cheap, you need to make reservations in advance for some activities and the resturaunts We stayed over Presidents weekend and loved it, the snow tubing and skiing are perfect for younger kids and families, if you want major ski slopes and tubing this is not the place We enjoyed the indoor pool and some of the other activities! The shows are fun ! We hope to return again but next time in the summer

Big Mistake! Could have stayed at camelback and enjoyed everything with my four boys. Single mom trying to treat her son to a weekend with friends and I should have just stayed at camelback. Their tubing site is lame: it's not even as big as my back yard. Literally good for toddlers only!!! My ten and 11 year olds cried when they saw the tubing hill (not tears of happiness.) Had to spend $500 taking four kids tubing at camelback as a plan B. When I informed them that I could not go on our planned treetop adventure course the next day (one because of the tubing expense,) and two because my one other adult could not come up for the day because he got called in to work, they refused to allow me to cancel. The concierges talked to me very rudely that I found devastating. They were just mean and told me that was my problem and said they were charging me anyway. Their pool was ok but completely blinded my kids with the insane amount of chlorine. It's hard to eat at the hotel if you are in a chalet. You need reservations to get food which makes it extremely difficult. All I can say is NEVER AGAIN and I'm the type of person who doesn't even send food back at a restaurant. I do indeed understand they are running a business but to charge me $330 for an activity that we cant do is shameful on them. Their website makes the place look so magical and wonderful: I've been all over this globe and all I can say is cudos to their marketing firm.

We were so lucky to have found Skytop for a family getaway. You could not ask for a warmer, friendlier staff, better food, or a more thoughtfully appointed luxury resort. The quality of the experience is unparalleled.

Great place! Beautiful old world charm. Friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommend as a fun getaway. One thing to note is that on Saturday nights, there is a band that plays int he lobby. Our room was originally one floor above the lobby. We realized during the mid-afternoon when there was a live piano player that we could hear every note of the piano inside our room. So we asked to switch rooms and they gave us a bigger room in the Cottage (steps away from the main lodge building). This worked out much better and we were fortunate they had the room available there. But keep this in mind - if you plan on trying to sleep before ~10pm and you are in the main lodge close to the lobby, it will be very loud in your room. Otherwise, the place was great and we had a very nice time!

Still a paradise! Fun and enrichment for all ages. Maintains its historic elegance, charm and peace; while offering up to date services, amenities and adventures. I have visited about 40 times over almost 60 years, and it never loses its magic. The staff are uniformly efficient and friendly. There’s a sense of community that you don’t get at your average hotel. The grounds are magnificent, with breathtaking views. The multiple hiking trails take you deep into nature, with streams, grottoes, waterfalls, lakes…They’re actually indescribable. Make sure you do Levitt Falls and Indian Ladder Falls. Climbing Skytop Mountain is arduous, but the view is so worth it! Some rooms in the Lodge may be little small, but are well appointed with very comfortable beds. The Lodge rooms facing the back have amazing views. There are a variety of room sizes to choose from. For larger rooms, the suites, the cottages and the Inn are wonderful options.

We went to the Windsor room for a dinner with friends for a Birthday. The service wad just plain poor and was nothing attributable to “fine dining “- and the food was not better. All of our meals came out with issues - 2 blood red steaks that were ordered as “medium” a sea bass the overcooked tough asparagus and a “vegetarian” dinner of 3 sides that were all warm at best - with the mashed potatoes being hard and dry. Our server was a disappearing act . When I asked the hostess for help from a manger nobody came. We eventually just hoped for the check to end the ordeal. It was a very expensive dinner only because the value did not meet the expectations.

Room Tip: I would pass on this restaurant as the food and service was more like a banquet kitchen than fine...
