Meyersdale is a quaint little town on the GAP trail. Our group of four stayed here for two nights while we explored the area and rode the GAP trail. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, checked in with our friendly hostess and stored our bikes in the garage room. The hotel is conveniently located a few blocks from the trailhead....

This must be a hard place to maintain, because it is huge and old and probably hard to clean and heat. They do a great job. Beds are comfortable with tight sheets and really nice pillows. Food and drink are good and reasonably priced. And, as everyone says, all the staff are great. When the hotel is full, there can...

Loretta and team treated our family group very special, bedrooms were as advertised with more than enough bathrooms. Though restaurant was closed arrangements were made by Loretta to have dinner prepared at a great price and bar open for beverages. Hotel reminds one of past with long wood staircases, .50 cent pool and air hockey games. We had a great...

Our cycling group had a wonderful stay at the Morguen Toole Company hotel. Owner, Ms. Andi Hoover, greeted our group when we arrived in the mid-afternoon. My husband and I stayed in the Hoover suite which had a kitchenette, dining table, living room, two bedrooms and large en suite bathroom. We were traveling with 8 other friends/family and the Hoover...

After riding from Cumberland, we were tired and hungry and this hotel was perfect. The entrance from a side door recalled old hotels in Tuscany, complete with the huge garage for our bikes. We were met in small lobby by a very enthusiastic receptionist who cheerfully explained that coffee was available 24/7 in Kuerigs located there and on the floor...

This hotel is an old building that has been reconfigured into guest rooms and a bar and restaurant. Although a bit of a maze, the room I stayed in, Helen's Room, was a welcome respite from a day's biking on the Great Allegheny Passage. The hostess, Andi, met me at the door, showed me where to park my bike, and...

We stayed in Shatterbox and were worried about all the steps, but it was not an issue. I had great fun exploring all the stairways, the halls and the building! My husband LOVED the repurposed items used for decor. The food was incredible and there was live music on Saturday night. Make sure to ask someone about all the history...

My husband and teenage daughter and I stopped here on our way from Homestead, PA to Cumberland. We stayed at the Hoover Suite - huge, gorgeous, clean, and comfortable! Communication with the staff was easy. We had dinner at Joe Green's Fresh Eatery up the hill (since we were there on a Monday). Our 3 day trip was amazing, and...

The other reviews did not prepare me for how cool the hotel is. Old brick building with two sets of wooden stairs. They check you in, give you the door code and keys, and leave. I had a room with shared bath, which was fine. Window air conditioner worked well. Good bath products and big, clean towels. A really fun...

I have stayed twice and it is just a really cool, unique place. My 6 year old son and I rode the GAP trail from, Ohiopyle to Cumberland and stayed at MTC in between days and arrived muddy messes. Brooke greeted us and was very welcoming and praised my son for being a pretty tough kid, you made his day...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel at Morguen Toole provides guests with a unique experience that isn't found anywhere else. The huge brick building was built in the late 1800's as a morgue and tool shop. The current owners bought the sadly neglected building in 2011 and have restored the beauty and history. The lodging is primarily on the 3rd floor and include everything from hostel style bunks to elegant 4 room suites. ... more   less
