We had a fabulous stay. When we woke up the next day we wanted to extend the stay by another night, the rooms were sold out. Rooms are superbly refreshed, large and clean. The room we booked had two large double beds and they were super comfy. The interior of the room comes with peaceful ocean feel. The enquire bathroom is large, modern and very clean, comes with a shower. The bathroom amenities were great. Parking at the hotel is very easy and free. The hotel has a lovely pool with a charming deck. Ideal place to sit and relax. The pool itself is very nice and clean. The reception at the hotel is very nice, they have COVID restriction of 2 guests at a time, however, the check-in process was so efficient took less than 5 mins. The hotel is located in the right location with 2 mins walk to the Marina. You could see the Marina from the balcony of the room. There are plenty of dining options around the hotel. Thai, Indian, modern western fusion etc. some trendy pubs around too. The Marina has plenty of dining options. We did the Whaley watching tour, it was super easy to stay at this hotel and walk to our boat which departed at 10am. We are already planning to go back to Hotel Nelson.

After arriving to our booking at Nelson Towers just down the road only to have the manager run out the door screaming that they were booked out and to piss off we spotted this little gem up the road and gave them a call.

Thankfully Hotel Nelson had a spare room room and saved my birthday night. The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help us out and the room was the best I’ve stayed in for a long time. Very comfy bed, seperate bathroom was very modern, everything in the room felt brand new. Even the carpet was noticeably comfortable under foot, and a great sized deck to enjoy a coffee from down stairs whilst watching the sun come up over the Marina and all for around 30% cheaper than the abusive accomodation we originally had booked. This is my new Go-to accomodation in Nelson Bay and will be back.

We booked a two night stay in a Superior King Spa Room. When we booked we asked specifically for a room with water views and was provided with a beautiful room looking out to the marina.
We arrived early to check in and was going to have lunch at the Little Nel until we realised it was closed on Mondays for lunch. Debbie who was in reception at the time said she would call us when our room was ready. 10 minutes later we got the call to say it was ready.

The hotel is very accomodating. I have been wearing a cam boot for the last 9 weeks and I was able to use the lift to get to our room instead of tackling the stairs. Fortunately the lift opened out onto the landing right in front of our room. Access to the pool is via the footbridge on level 2 or through the carpark. Access is easy for everyone of all abilities. The pool is heated so is perfect to use all year round.

The room itself was super comfortable and had all the things we needed for a ‘home away from home’ stay. These rooms have all recently been refurbished and this ultimately adds to the appeal of this hotel.

Everything is close by, Woolies is a short stroll away. The marina and the town centre are close by. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants offering lots of different cuisines.

When we went to check out we didn’t want to hand the key back. We reluctantly handed it over and said we’d be back to stay again.

I’d like to give a big thanks to ALL of the team at Hotel Nelson who have created a beautiful place to stay and relax. Your efforts individually should be recognised so please accept my thanks for making our stay wonderful.

The hotel was super clean and the staff were super friendly. Cherie/Sherie helped me with the check in and she was so helpful, nice and friendly. It was soo nice to come home to the hotel after having a long day. The bathroom and room had such a beautiful ambience and dim lights (you can adjust it but I liked the dim lights).

The hotel also had a heated indoor swimming pool and a gym :) The location was perfectly convenient too. Woolworths, Dominoes and some restaurants were only a few minutes away. It is also a 10 minute drive to the Tomaree Summit Walk and the Shark and Stingray encounters!

The Little Nel cafe was next to the hotel and it was super delicious which I highly recommend. I never write reviews but I was so happy with my experience and would highly recommend this hotel.

Overall I am soo happy I stayed at Hotel Nelson as it definitely made my trip to Port Stephens memorable. It made a big difference to my trip staying at such a beautiful apartment like Hotel Nelson.

Stayed here for 5 nights with my family in deluxe family room.

The best part is probably the heated pool which my kids used everyday and was not overcrowded. Pool towel was provided from reception.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in walking distance to Woolworths and is in the heart of Nelson Bay. A few decent restaurants closeby suitable for families. Little Nel cafe is part of the hotel and is very popular though we find their breakfast prices a bit expensive.

5-10 mins drive to Shoal Bay for beach and water activities, Salamander Bay shops and 15 mins drive away from the sand dunes.

Room is overall spacious with 2 queen beds and a couch bed. I would stay here again.

We booked a top floor room with jacuzzi for our stay. On Government Road there will always be some traffic noise but it is not intrusive. The views across to the marina are shielded by large trees but the sea is still clearly visible. An excellent central location to walk easily into the town.
Parking is available on site with a few spaces covered.
Breakfast can be taken downstairs in Little Nel cafe which serves a good mix of cooked choices and muesli/fruit.
Bikes can be hired for exploring the area.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Nelson for two nights this week, and I can only highly recommend this gem in the heart of Nelson Bay. My room was spotlessly clean, with high quality toiletries; comfortable queen size bed; and a nice little balcony where I could sit and eat breakfast. The Samsung television had free Foxtel; and I signed in to my own Netflix account and watched that as well. Situated across the road from the Marina, you don't need to move your car from the very ample free parking available at the Hotel Nelson. The staff are friendly, helpful and go above & beyond the call of duty to be of assistance. The pool area is beautifully laid out; with ample sun lounges, etc. I will definitely stay at Hotel Nelson again.

We arrived after bit of traffic to a warm greeting at the desk and a lovely room with surprise included. The room was well appointed with lots of items available such as microwave, crockery, cutlery etc and very very clean their cleanliness is A Plus! The stay was fabulous and the breakfast from the adjoining cafe lovely. Nothing was a problem here and I am so glad I stayed here instead of a bigger resort. We will be back. Well down to Alicia for the clean room and Sarah for the treats. Great location too

The pool at Nelson hotel is heated and great fun for the children they also have bbq for guests to use. They also provide pool tools.
Lots of parking for residents and so close to the centre you can walk everywhere.lovely friendly reception staff.

The location has is very good, close to shops, restaurants and mariner.
The rooms are very basic but provide all that is needed.
Unfortunately, we were given room 42 which a ground level room, next to the laundry. All night we heard cars driving past the bedroom (bedroom is the front room - very strange layout), people parking, slaming car doors, people talking and then in the morning we were woken up with more car noise as well as the laundry trolleys being wheeled apst our windows. Would recommned if you are staying here do not accept room #42 if you want any peace, quiet and/or a full nights sleep. The back of the room opended up to the rear of the pub next door so hard to even have the back open due to the noise from teh pub next door. Would stay here again but under no circumstance would accept a sub standard room location again.

The restaurant is at the edge of the retail/restaurant precinct and across the road from the waterfront marina. There are lovely beaches in the area, just not sure if they are right near the hotel. No lift at present but the manager told us they were getting one installed soon. However, he carried our bags up the stairs for us.
