We stayed here for a night with our daughter who stayed 5 nights while doing work placement. It is an old motel that looks out over a lovely rural setting. It is close to Berry. The rooms were vey clean and at a reasonable cost. The bed was very comfortable and I would happily stay here again.
The Bangalee Motel in Berry is a small motel on the old highway on the north edge of town within walking distance of the town centre. That is the good news. The not so good news is that it is unkept, and uncared for and is worth avoiding if at all possible. The amenities are basic, circa 1970. Quite small and reasonably clean. It is definitely not value for the cost on this particular weekend. Not a fan!
Stayed here at the end of April, just for 1 night... a rare find in the area, seems most of the motels try to squeeze you for a min. two nights on the weekend. Bangalee quotes a 4* rating on their board out the front and would respectfully suggest it’s short of that, but perfectly adequate. Could definitely use a bit of love and attention but honestly my wife and I found it a very comfortable little place to stay the night. Location is about 10-12 min walk into main area of Berry (or 2 min drive) so not ideally situated but being out of the way provides a very quiet location free from traffic noise. I’ll stay here again when we next go to Berry for a little get away.
tidy small motel, beds very good, decor acceptable, trip back to the sixties for the bathroom. Bathroom is basic, functional and had hot water. The shower head is at midget height and the water saving head leaves you a little disappointed. But its an easy 10 min walk to the centre of Berry and has little traffic noise. Great option for overnight or two
We stayed at the Bangalee Motel Berry NSW for 3 nights after making our booking I read adverse reports re this Motel and was worried our accommodation would be poor We were very pleasantly surprised Although not modern our room 9 was exceptionally clean with huge windows with lovely views The room was very spacious with plenty of furniture but not crowded The bed was extremely comfortable and all the linen was crisp and very clean. Our room was maintained daily bins emptied tea and coffee replaced The man at reception was very nice and keen to answer our questions about Berry and surrounds We have done a lot of travelling and stayed at many Motels in this price range and would recommend Bangalee Motel if you are wanting very good clean basic accommodation and very convenient to the town and Berry Bowling Club(has a very good Chinese Menu) which are both in close walking distance…
We were tired, Berry was our destination and everything else was sold out. The owner did offer us a discount for not using the 2nd bed in the room ($10 off the ridiculous price of $150). The sheets were clean and the bed comfortable, like others have said. The "pool" is a neglected slime pit and no one has grilled on the rusted heap that sits beside the pool.
This motel passed its use-by date in the late 80's. Run by a disinterested Asian couple, this place is in desperate need of a renovation. The capets are disgusting, the show minuscule and the pool is a neglected green swamp. Check out is 10am, but the owner cares so little about customer service that when I eent to drop the keys off at 9.50 am, the office was locked and no one answered the door when I rang, so I left the keys on the doorstep. It's the direction Australia is unfortunately heading towards; Asians coming in doing things half as good as an Australia. I would avoid this place at all costs.
The sheets on the bed and the towels provided were lovely and clean, everything else was covered in a fairly thick layer of filth. The advertised pool is not only disgustingly dirty, full of green water and falling apart, but the decking surrounding it is rotten and dangerous. I suspect the rotten wood stretches further than the pool, and seriously worry about the supporting structural foundations at the back of the premises. Won't be long before the whole thing tumbles down the hill. The advertised BBQ area has one large BBQ with no middle...no gas pipes, no hot plates etc, just a big hole where they should be; and one small BBQ, which is rusty, dirty and falling apart. A notice up in the room said I could get an iron and ironing board from the office, but the office was closed at 5pm, so I called the number posted on the office window. When I explained what I wanted the woman who answered just kept saying "I sorry, we closed". On checking the notice in the room it says "Reception is open between 8am & 7pm", but I was refused service when I called at 5pm! I couldn't get access to Foxtel, turns out its there, but there's a trick to fiddling with the TV to get it, which no one explained to me until I complained. I pointed out there was no instruction in the room, so unless someone explains what to do you're stuck. Same applied to internet...there's just no instructions for anything in the filthy room. The thing that riles me most about this place is the blatant deceit used in their own promotions; the pictures on their own website show a lovely clean pool full of blue water. The picture they have supplied to this website of the premises is NOT a picture of the Bangalee Hotel. They charged me $220 up front, but when you get there you see the lies; this is obviously not a 4 star hotel, its doesn't have a useable pool, it doesn't have a useable BBQ area, it is generally filthy and probably dangerous. I don't mind camping, I gear up for it, I expect some dirt and I get on with it; enjoy it, because its what you expect, and its cheap! When you book a 4 start hotel, you expect a 4 star hotel...not the equivalent of camping. Don't stay here until its been knocked down and rebuilt.…
I read the reviews prior to booking this motel. We were originally staying at the Bangalee Motel for one night and considering we were attending a wedding decided we would be back late and going early. So being fully aware what to expect the experience was not as bad as we expected. In the end we had to take an extra night. Yes the carpet is not great and in our bathroom everything was clean but there were some areas of rust and broken shower screens. This motel is obviously in need of repair - pool green (to cold to swim anyway - BBQ's non existent). But there was tea and coffee making and a bonus toaster. Although it is right on the highway the noise did not bother either of us. The bed was very comfy and had clean linen. There was no one on site on check out to take our key - "just leave it hanging in the door" we were told which concerned me a little. Having said all that it is a very short walk to Berry and the back wall of the motel room was all glass window which allowed us to have unrestricted view of fields with cows and sheep and mountains. The man that greeted me on arrival was pleasant and offered me real milk as opposed to the long life rubbish most motels give you now. If you are on a budget staying for only a very short stay it would be ok - not great mind you, but ok. We have stayed in some really nice motels in our time but we have also stayed in worse than this one and paid more for it - it was $150 a night - which I agree with other trip advisor reviewers was expensive for the condition of this motel.…
The rooms are old fashioned, seemed dirty....shower recess was moldy and dirty & smelly. The sheets seemed clean (thank goodness) but wouldn't even walk on the carpet barefooted....everything was suspect ....just dirty & very neglected. For $160 a night one expects cleanliness at the very least.
