We arrived a few minutes late to our wine tasting to find a crowd of people waiting at the door. The 3:00pm sitting had not been let in yet. It was extremely busy, letting one sitting in as the other left and it seemed there wasn't a space to spare. We sat at a table in a lower section among the barrels. A pleasant authentic setting even if quite dark. Kind of a shame the views outside were not being taken advantage of as the restaurant that has tables overlooking the actual winery was closed. We were a party of 7. Tasting was $10 each for about 6 wines. Because of our party size we were required to purchase 2 cheese platters for $60. $30 each. They came with a packet of aldis crackers, two types of cheese and a jar of local olives. It was a pleasant afternoon. The attendant was attentive as he could be but was extremely busy as he was attending multiple tables. It was a nice way to celebrate our anniversary. If you want to treat yourself to a nice afternoon of a 'glass of wine' and cheese I would recommend but a bit expensive when you are use to the free tastings of the hunter region. We were there for 1 hr but it went so fast. It did feel a little rushed because they were so busy.…
What a great cellar door hidden in the Berry hills shire. The staff are very friendly. Fully recommend to drop in to this cellar. I like their Riesling. While the restaurant is closed due to covid (only open for functions) the cheese and spreads are yummy.
Everything about this place was great! The views, the alpacas out front, the funny COVID puppets on the table on the way in, the friendly staff, the owners cute little dog, and obviously the delicious wines! We had a busy day and had been to many wineries, and as a big group of loud women we were usually given wine and left alone, but this was the only place that explained the wines to us, how they were processed, the grapes used. Rowan are server was funny and kind and very knowledgable! He made us feel welcome and we ended up buying wine from here because we liked the place and the people! It pays to be nice ❤️ Also the fact they donate most profits to charity is amazing and makes it all the more worthwhile to visit!
Grounds are beautiful and appealing. Some great photo opportunities. Arrived to be seated at a very dirty table. Made us wonder about COVID hygiene, but even in the best of times bird feces all over a table (dried and wet) is not acceptable. Asked if the table could be cleaned and as met with rude resistance. Someone ended up coming out with a dry tea towel and dusting the bigger chunks of poo off the table. Our tasting platter was already sitting on this dirty table. Cheese still wrapped in the plastic wrapper, crackers on the table in the box. No spoon to get the olives out of the jar, guess all of us are meant to use our fingers. Nothing to put pips in. Cheeses and olives were very nice. Wine guide was lovely, friendly, knowledgeable. Advised if we didn't like any of the wines to spit them in the garden. Tree branch hanging so low over the table it kept hitting people in the head in the breeze. Wines were ok. Other staff couldn't raise a smile. Compared to the service at other wineries, this was really disappointing. I would not recommend Silos to my friends or family.…
We had an excellent day trip to Silos Estate for a wine tasting and we loved every second of it. The owner, Raj is a kind and funny guy who told us all about his amazing life experiences and made us feel so welcome. The wines are delicious and the atmosphere divine. Can’t wait to go back.
