The Jamaica inn is a lovely building set in some amazing scenery, I popped in for lunch and found the place charming, the food was reasonable and what would be expected for the reasonable price paid. The staff were pleasant although not the most attentive. Over all it was a nice comfortable place to eat and cheap considering it has...

Although I've lived in the area for many many years and visited the inn many times, riding one of my horses over the moor to treat myself to a soft drink before riding back home, I'd never stayed overnight. Horses now gone and disabilities rife, my sister and I (and the dog) finally got round to booking a nights stay....

We live in Cornwall but ventured further North today where we hoped to find a bed for the night after a day exploring. It was all booked up though with ghost hunters so we contented ourselves with a hearty Irish stew in the warm relaxing bar. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I recently stayed here again, having stayed quite a few years ago. The room was very clean and tidy and the housekeeping staff were very polite and friendly, although looking very rushed and tired. As myself and my friend headed down for breakfast we witnessed a man (who we later found out was the owner) shouting and berating a staff...

The Jamaica inn has everything you need on the premises. All you have to do is turn up! We stayed in two of the "haunted rooms" but the only spirits we saw were behind the bar. Both rooms were clean and well equipped. The bar offered the usual variety of drinks. And the food, well Breakfast is first class you can...

Best value for money I've had in the UK. Brilliant room, food, facilities. Couldn't ask for more except for the moors to have been less foggy so i could get out and have a bit of a walk, but no worries, the Inn provided me with plenty to do to pass the time. Guess information was amazing. Included walks and...

The Jamaica Inn is a special find. The staff are friendly, the food is very good at a fair price and the history of the place wraps it all up in to a stop that you will be glad you did on your journey. The new farm shop is a nice touch with loads of local products. So needless to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Food Served: 7.30Am - 9.30Pm every day (9pm winter) Still standing proud over four centuries, Jamaica Inn is so legendary that Daphne du Maurier chose to immortalise it in her novel and last year the BBC featured it in a 3-part adaptation of her work. Cornwall's most famous smuggling inn, Jamaica Inn is shrouded in history and has one of the finest collections of smuggling artefacts in the country. A visit to the Inn's museum includes the Daphne du Maurier Room, with the actual desk she wrote her novels on, plus an educational and historical theatre show about smuggling in Cornwall and the part Jamaica Inn played. The odd ghost or two is said to occupy the Inn which is regularly visited by ghost hunters on popular Ghost Hunt Weekends! Wholesome tasty meals are served all day using the freshest and finest local ingredients starting at 7.30Am with hearty Cornish breakfasts, followed by delicious lunches, mouth watering cream teas and fine dinners right through to 9.30Pm (9pm winter). Traditional Sunday lunches are served most Sundays. The Inn's friendly staff can advise on real ales and fine wines that can be drunk in front of a crackling fire in winter and in the Inn's gardens overlooking the Moor in summer. The Inn is ideal as a rest stop by the A30 or as a base to explore most of Cornwall and Devon in a day. Many walkers start from the Inn and traverse breathtaking Bodmin Moor. The Inn has 20 bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms, WiFi and Sky Sports and Movie channels - some even have romantic 4-poster beds and 2 rooms are dog friendly. ... more   less
