The owners have really made an effort with this place. The loft area has been converted to make 3 bedrooms all with ensuite facilities. There are 2 flights of stairs which means there is no noise from the bar downstairs. There are handrails although tall people need to take care as height is restricted in places. We stayed as a... We recently visited this pub while staying on a Narrowboat in Gilwern. Just a very short walk from the canal this traditional inn offered a simple but tasty menu with big portions at a sensible price. An added bonus was being serenaded by a local folk group who had called in for the evening to practice! The staff were very... More

My wife and I visited the Beaufort Arms for Sunday Lunch, this weekend. We have been before on several occasions, and are always bowled over by the warm and friendly greeting and excellent food. This visit was no different. Perfect "old fashioned" Sunday Lunch of roast beef, eaten whilst listening to the banter of the locals in the bar. Keith... More

We ended up stranded for a couple of days in GIlwern due to a car rental disaster - there are worse places to end up! We were incredibly lucky to find a room at the Beaufort Arms where we were immediately made to feel at home, something most welcome after spending hours waiting for roadside assistance. Keith and Andrea went... More

We had three wonderful nights at the Beaufort Arms during the Abergavenny Cycling Festival (2015). It was genuine hospitality and at its finest! Hosts Andrea and Keith could not have been more welcoming and their home cooking was excellent both morning and evening. The atmosphere in the pub of an evening has to be experienced to be believed . .... More

This is a GREAT pub with a fabulous atmosphere. The home made food is brilliant. When I arrived here on a Friday night the place was buzzing with LOTS of life. People having the lovely food, I can recommend the Steak and Kidney pie followed by banana split, and a local darts match being played. The Landlord and landlady had... More

A traditional pub with a warm welcome and good beer that serves great value pub food. The menu is limited but all the food is home cooked and tasty with big portions, the pies are a speciality. Only 5 mins walk from the canal, highly recommended .

I stayed at this b&b for a week on my visit to Wales all the way from Wichita Kansas in the USA. The owners of it were wonderful people and couldn't have made me feel more welcome. The room was very comfortable and each morning I woke up and sat drinking my coffee looking out of the window at an... More

I visited Wales in September (2014) and stayed at the Beaufort Arms in Gilwern for several days. What a wonderful experience. The room was immaculate and had modern amenities, although the inn is a centuries-old building, The hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Rose were so warm and gracious, and had lots of information about what to do and see in the... Because of the Abergavenny food festival this was our 9th or 10th choice. No complaints though. Rooms were done out for the 2010 Ryder Cup that took place nearby. Very clean. Good value for money. The locals love to have a good chat in the bar downstairs and Keith and his wife are very friendly and welcoming. Keith gave us... More
