This is an easy-to-find hotel with a large car park. It has an attractive, historic entrance and the receptionist was friendly and efficient. The room price was very good value and the room itself, in the modern wing, was scrupulously clean, modern and came with free Wi-Fi (although I couldn't connect on the second day). However, the bed was rather...

Bedrooms are small and not insulated..all night, you can ear doors banging and people talking , shouting... This hotel had also a function on that night.. So you can ear people going to bed late and or outside leaving the premises. Awful night! Not recommended !

I stayed for one night on business and was pleased with my stay. Cost: I paid £69 for one night inc. breakfast. This seemed like good value compared to the Premier Inn, which I've stayed at before numerous times. Location: I am a fast walker and took approximately 15 minutes to get there from the town centre. It's very easy...

We have dined at the Alma Lodge for many years on Mother’s Day as the food and service was always perfect, until this year! The food and service was dreadful, we ate later than normal about 5.30, unsure if this was an issue and they wanted to get home, we were given a 4 course meal in an hour of...

We hosted our wedding at the Alma Lodge Hotel just over a week ago and I cannot speak highly enough about it! Zoe and Clair were the perfect wedding co-ordinators and all the staff at the hotel made sure our day was just perfect from start to finish. The ceremony was held there too and the whole set up was...

Single bed was definately single but comfortable. Didnt particulary like the room layout , bathroom was big but some of the space could have been used to make the room less of a "skinny room" - Wifi is not the best considering most hotels now have it for free, not good when trying to do work emails etc. Restaurant was...

Helpful staff, good size rooms, restaurant staff great, food is very good with efficient service. Only small criticisms..was unable to connect to wifi for one of the days (so back to the real world). Secondly breakfast layout could do with a change- either moving the toasting machine to avoid the bottleneck caused by impatient guests from queuing at breakfast for...

One night stay on a business trip. Facilities have been modernised although the shell is still an older property. Plenty of parking is available. Staff were all pleasant from check in, in the restaurant and check out.

Visiting family in the area, we stayed here for 2 nights. Though there was a busy main road outside, there was almost no noise from it in the bedroom. The room itself was average; enough facilities, large bed; nice bed-linen etc. The breakfast (average) was in a large dining-room but the entrance hall and public rooms are really great; this...
