Happened across this quaint little pub. View across the valley is lush, worth the visit alone. Inside not bad, just as you'd expect an independent pub/hotel. Clean presentable and welcoming, only gripe is a little cold but couldn't expect them to turn on the fire for just us so just grinned and bared it. Only problem, understandable one, was the...

One of my favourite pubs this one. The first time I visited was with a new age traveller looking chap called Bob,hunting down the legendary Kingsdown tunnel quarry. The landlord Pete said he wasn't open yet,but we could park at the pub and the mine was directly opposite. When we returned, covered in mud,the first thing Bob did,was walk to the...

This pub is in a great location but is ruined by the appalling landlord who is rude unwelcoming and just hopeless. Everything is too much trouble and you wonder why he bothers to be there at all. I have spoken to several people who have been there and the experience is all the same. Could be a wonderful place but...

This was our third visit to The Swan Inn and once again, the landlord made us feel unwelcome. It was Father's Day and we'd been for a family walk. We popped in for a drink and from the outset the landlord was brusque and surly. Just as other reviewers have described. He was like this with us the first couple...

Judging by how others enjoyed their visit to The Swan, I can only assume those writing negative posts haven't grasped the landlord's sense of humour. Very dry wit which made me and my partner feel comfortable. It's a normal country pub with fantastic food and a charming couple running it. It doesn't pretend to be anything else and that's why...

The pub was nice enough but the landlord was surly from the start. We tried to make the best of it and enjoy our evening but we should have left then! When my burger arrived the burger bun was actually two slices of bread with the crusts cut off but again we didn't say anything. The finally straw was being...

I had a lovely steak cooked just the way I like it with real chips. Pete was very welcoming and lit the fire for us to warm ourselves up. The next morning he even came out and showed us where to wait for the bus as you wait on the opposite side of the road to flag the bus down....

Firstly please do not be put off by other reviews, my experience of this place could not have been better! The location is great being close to central Bath but in a beautiful rural location with fabulous views! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and even though the kitchen was closed I was offered a selection of hot meals to...

My husband and I visited the Swan Inn during our stay at a local B&B Cleeves Wood about a 10 minute walk from the Inn, during our honeymoon. Upon entering we were greeted by a burley man named Pete. He was the owner/landlord and upon entering he made us feel very welcome. Our accommodation had called ahead and Pete happily...

Well, I had already reviewed this place but my review had mysteriously disappeared! I feel so strongly about the way I was treated, I'm writing it again. Lets see if it disappears this time. I visited (or tried to visit) this pub in October with my girlfriend and her visiting parents. We planned to have some lunch and then go...
