The White Bear is a beautiful, old timbered building run by a lovely couple who were incredibly helpful, friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well spaced and stocked. Situated in the town center, the White Bear is close to all amenities and parking. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and served nice and hot, I would summarize my...

We stayed at this old boozer on night two of our walking holiday. The large shower was great after a long day on the Wessex Ridgeway. We had a room (with a rather slanting floor) which was comfortable and quiet. Being a Sunday and arriving lateish we were too late for dinner but if it's as excellent as the breakfast...

Welcoming hosts, they couldn't do enough for us, very hospitable, stayed in the Drunken Room which was an experience, if you want plush, and everything new they don't stay there, it's a 450yr old pub, expect to find that it's quirky and floors are sloping. Could not better the breakfast. Traffic was a little noisy but we expected that staying...

Jeff and Fiona are very caring and loving hosts. Room was very comfortable and the breakfast was very filling. Would recommend this place to stay. It was a pleasure to stay here and will stay here again if need to.

My hubby and I stayed at this old and lovely place for my Birthday Weekend Away. We stayed in the 'Drunken' room, the floor does slant slightly giving you the feeling it's drunk, or you are! lol It's a nice cosy comfy quiet room, with a decent size bathroom and shower (2 people can fit in it, plus more space!!!!😂)....

Fabulous reception off the owners Fiona and Jeff. Lovely traditional room. We stayed on a Saturday night and found the room lovely and quiet. Great breakfast too. Brilliant location right in the heart of devizes town centre. Would and will stay again

My girlfriend and I stayed for one evening. We have stayed at other hotels in Devizes. The white bear has never before been an option when searching for a room in Devizes. So happy it showed up on my search. very cozy bed. No noise from the road or church bells. Pleasent traditional bar. Good English breakfast, tho other choices...

Superb home-cooked typically English rib-sticking fare (like steak and kidney pudding with veggies). Limited menu but we adored what we chose. The ginger pudding with custard to follow left us very well fed! Prices reasonable, unlike in the trendy places right in the town centre. and the draught beer is well kept. Friendly Francophile landlord and you eat in the...

Visited for Saturday dinner and received a warm, friendly welcome. We both went for burger and chips which was an excellent choice. The beer was also good and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Very welcoming owners who obviously care and take pride in what they do, nice rooms with comfy beds kept clean and fresh without loosing that classic English pub look, breakfast was good. All in all I would be happy to stay again

“The pub overlooks a very busy main road (unlike some roads though, it carries very little traffic at night). I don't know if they have any rooms which don't overlook the road, but it might be worth asking. They also have good double glazing, which helps. Note: this is a very old building with steep narrow stairs. It might not be the place for someone with mobility issues.”
